  1. Somehow, I don't think Lee will be sitting on his butt watching Telemundo all day.
  2. Anything that can lessen the effects of the result of the All Star game is fine with me. I kinda like the idea. There is precedence for a best of 9 series, but it won't be like the Super Bowl.....cause at the end of the Super Bowl a champion is crowned. At the end of this World Series Weekend, or whatever you want to call it, NOTHING will have been decided.
  3. I like to paraphrase Mario Cuomo from Ken Burn's Baseball documentary: In other sports, there is time. You have to play against the clock. There's no clock in baseball. If you can keep that rally going, if you can get on base, if you keep getting hits, you can play 'til.....a week from now. There is no parameter that makes it impossible for you to perform still more excellently.
  4. So I see that Tulowitzki hit a go-ahead homer in the 11th inning and the Rockies go on to lose again..... What's happening with Fuentes?
  5. Sheffield getting 500 as well?
  6. he's 13th in the NL in walks. Cause he's living off of his past accomplishments and teams are still pitching him cautiously.
  7. He wants to play everyday.....that's not gonna happen with the Cubs.
  8. Brilliant knee-jerk reaction. He's been great the last 3 years. He was dominant in his last 12 outings and all of June: 14 IP, 8 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 14 K, .71 WHIP, .64 ERA. He had one bad night pitching on his 3rd consecutive day. He also didn't have very much time between being told to get up and start warming to when he was brought in the game. I seem to remember Sammy having a few multi-HR games against the Rockies (hit 3 at least twice against them, I believe), and I think the last time the Cubs scored a run in every inning was in Coors Field as well. Didnt the Rockies score 1 run in every inning in wrigley once also. one afternoon in 1999 I was super po'd at my at-the-time girlfriend, went for a long walk, ended up in the neighborhood, and wasted $10 to go watch that crapfest from the upperdeck. although that girl made me so miserable, it was actually a nice break and quite refreshing. http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/COL/COL200408040.shtml that was a crazy game...nomar's third game as a cub...at coors i think its just gonna happen with these two teams because of the parks they play in ... wind blowin out at wrigley can be just like coors...its gonna be nuts I watched that game at a bar. I recall the satellite feed at the bar was ahead of the cable feed (and I was the only one watching the satellite feed), and everybody looked at me kinda weird when I shouted "YES!!" before they knew Sosa hit his 3-run homer. Agree...crazy game.
  9. That one still makes me fume.
  10. And this is why you should never look at wins to determine a pitcher's effectiveness.
  11. That's the only explanation I can think of. By the time the CSN team realized it was interference, Hawk and DJ were already so deep in their tirade that they had to choose to not drop the bomb on them.
  12. The one thing lost in all this is how the CSN production team could be so incompetent to have missed the interference call. They just hung up Hawk and DJ out to dry.
  13. That was a double play. No doubt about it. These umps do not know the rules of baseball.
  14. I long for the day we beat Mexico in their stadium. I can't even imagine what the reaction would be down there. It would be truly glorious. I fear for the safety of the US players if they beat them.
  15. Cubs give up Sosa's 600 and will give up Bond's 756th....I just know it.
  16. WTF was Jacque doing....I want that for my sig.
  17. It's not easy for every GM to eat $5.6M. That's how much the Cubs still owe Eyre for the remainder of 2007 and all of 2008. Then Hendry needs to learn the meaning of "sunk cost".
  18. What does the All-Star game have to do with being good? I thought it was a popularity contest. The managers round out the all star teams with their own picks. It's not just about votes.
  19. Must be awkward for Barrett to be traded to a team that the Cubs have a beef with.
  20. What is the International League?
  21. In all your optimism, you're forgetting that the Earth will not be able to support that sort of population if humans average a 107 year lifespan. If nobody dies, the population will continue to grow, and the quality of life for everyone will decrease. We will have more pollution, more waste, and new diseases, and therefore the average lifespan will decrease. I highly doubt that a 107 year average lifespan is possible.
