  1. Not sure about the arm strength, but supposedly Yost was the one who caught the problem with Kendall. I don't know if this was known or not, but I just heard it today.
  2. if it was during a Fox telecast, I'm pretty sure you heard neither of them mention it No, it was mentioned on the FOX broadcast and then a couple of days later it was talked about it on ESPN. I should have been more clear on that. It's pretty weird because McGwire was not a good hitter. He was a slugger. Here's a USA Today article on it. http://www.usatoday.com/sports/baseball/2008-06-30-mcgwire_N.htm

  4. It was a FOX game. McGwire has been helping out a number of players such as Schumacher. He wants to get into coaching, but knows that the time is not now. So, he is going to take the personal instructor approach until/if he is welcomed back. I can't remember it was either Kirkjian or Buster Olney who I heard mention this.
  5. On the Beckett message boards, there is a guy heavily invested in Tyler Colvin. By heavily invested, probably a couple thousand dollars or so. Your story would make him sad. I just want to shook my head when I read his posts about Tyler Colvin.
  6. Zambrano and ? Dempster or Harden.....either way neither is a "huge drop off".
  7. So is it better to sell to brick-and-mortar stores instead? If not, where does the high book value come from? Book value esentially is Beckett. However, Beckett is not really highly regarded by devoted card collectors. So, while you could use beckett to help gage a price, most people will look to Ebay past sales for a more accurate price. Beckett claims to do a market analysis of some sort(with past Ebay sales included in that analysis), but recently they were caught putting cards up on Ebay themselves at listings which far exceeded their own pricings. This outraged many collectors and has further turned off collectors from Beckett. Although, even those colectors who do not like Beckett will sometimes admit to buying the magazine because they want to read the articles. Just like Playboy. I was thinking that as I typed it.

  9. meh Stay classy, San Diego.
  10. Holy Moses!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. TY Padres......you were a big help.
  12. Ankiel = the modern day Roy Hobbs

  14. That may have been the slowest home run trot ever.
  15. JoePa_Is_Old or GeoThermal
  16. Here's Beane's response to the rumor/speculation. http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2008/07/19/SPDN11S5MI.DTL
  17. This team still thinks it's all star break.
  18. Keep this up. I'd be happy to add another notch to my hammer. Do it he doesn't contribute anything useful anyway. Dude can't even announce that his team acquired a player correctly. Not to mention it isn't even a sure thing. Some writer on Jsonline said he heard something about it, that's it. It's speculation at this point. If it happens, it happens. Nice job, Hunter. It seems to me that the writer just needed/wanted something to write. While I believe that the Brewers may get Street, I don't believe that the centerpeice would be Darren Ford.
  19. I think some of the cable providers are offering a free preview through early next week as well. Comcast? I have EI, but Comcast does offer the package free this week. Atleast in the Chicago area.
  20. Harold Reynolds worked the All Star selection show for TBS. My guess is that he will sign on with them.
  21. I have been to a game at Enron/Minute Maid, and I will say, it's one of my favorite new stadiums in the game today. I actually hate the stadium, but it's the closest NL park to me, so I see the Cubs there every year. Every fly ball that Astros hit to left field/left center scares me. Not even just the idea of the fly balls being home runs, but also the ones that go bounding off the cement facade.
