http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/blog/index?entryID=3511674&name=mlb_trade_deadline ESPN (Buster Olney) just reported how they are not happy about him loafing to 1st base. They clocked him at 6 seconds and 5.? (can't remember the exact number) seconds. Since they believe he isn't invested in playing for the Red Sox they would rather unload him.

I don't know. Pudge's contract is up at the end of the season and they most likely wouldn't resign him especially since he is a Boras client. They got a middle reliever in Farnsworth which they can use who has pitched well lately. There probably wasn't much of a market for a catcher especially one getting up in age. So, Dombrowski did what he could.
