  1. Had he even pitched adequately in that game, it makes me wonder how many pitches Dusty would have let him throw.
  2. I know he's a Cardinals' fan, but does he pay attention to other managers in the league.
  3. Hendry took over as Cubs GM midway through 2002. His trades with Oakland: Traded Damian Miller for Michael Barrett A 3 team deal where the Cubs got Freddie Bynum, A's got Juan Dominguez(gave up John Rheinecker as well) Traded Mark Watson to Oakland on a conditional deal Jerome Williams was taken off waivers by Oakland Traded Jerry Blevins and Rob Bowen for Jason Kendall I'm not sure Hendry has "lost" a trade to Beane yet. I guess Blevins could still make that one a loser, and the Cubs being forced to have Freddie Bynum for a season may have qualified as well. Beane's weakness: His friendship with Hendry. BFF
  4. I don't know if this was mentioned. http://oakland.athletics.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20080708&content_id=3092033&vkey=news_oak&fext=.jsp&c_id=oak I'm a bit surprised they're not bringing Murton to the mlb club.
  5. http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=304&f=2062&t=2658135&p=13 You should, because it was a joke. Crap....didn't catch that. I guess reading is fundamental.
  6. I found this post funny. http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=304&f=2062&t=2658135&p=13
  7. he was covered in the magical STL pixie dust that turns anyone, even the sh##@iest players into studs while wearing the Uniform. It's quite remarkable. I need some of that pixie dust. I hate them. I should have punched LaRussa out. LaRussa flipped off my brother back in '92. What'd your brother do? He was 7. He asked for an autograph before a Brewers/A's game in Milwaukee. Tony gave him the finger. In fairness, your 7 year old brother did bother him for an autograph.
  8. Bases clogged for the Reds. Dusty does not like this predicament.
  9. Wow....Votto could have crushed that pitch. Phew.
  10. Was on a "Cubs Cruise" on the lake after a cubs-cards game in '01, Kerry was on the deck in the back of the boat signing autographs. I was in line waiting for Kerry to sign a baseball. Then his fiance I believe, Sarah was standing by his side when a bystander from the top deck leaned over and puked all over her. She was not so hot at that moment. How did Kerry react?
  11. When these sentences are read together, it is very Cindy Sandberg-ish.
  12. I love reding a Oakland A's message board and they are rather calm. I was expecting a bit of outrage at the deal. But, then again they do have faith in Beane as a talent evaluator. Many don't like the trade, but they seem willing to wait it out and see.
  13. If Beane is going to trade Harden, he's going to want Harden's replacement in the deal, ie Sean Gallagher, and then a couple of good upside players, who are close to being MLers themselves, perhaps Pie and Ceda? Not necessarily because he could bring up Gio Gonzalez. Beane would probably want to wait until the very end of the trade deadline to give Gonzalez a few more weeks in AAA. If Beane feels the time is right to trade Harden, Gonzalez is just about ready and as a young pitcher he'll benefit from McAfee Stadium.
  14. If they go into fire sale mode, I'm sure Tex will be shopped. I'm just not sure the Braves are ready to throw in the towel. Buster Olney mentioned (this morning on Mike & Mike) that he believes that if the Braves continue their slide that they will part with Teixiera. He mentioned how the Cubs would be interested. Surprisingly he didn't mention the Red Sox or anyone else for that matter. i didn't hear that at all. i heard that the cubs would be interested in a pitcher (forget who) but he mentioned the red sox as a team who WOULD be interested in tex. there's no reason for the cubs to have any interest in tex; there's nowhere for him to play. I was thrown off by it. Not sure why he thinks the Cubs would be interested. But, he did mention it.

  16. The crowd went nuts on that fly out.
  17. They would be better off with a corpse in relief.
  18. sosa had a lot of power and finally adjusted to how pitchers were pitching him. it wasn't that big of an adjustment. when you have no power or discipline to begin with, you have nowhere to start. plus sosa is one player out of how many? I realize Sosa isn't the rule but the exception but if Colvin has the tools to begin with (which I assume why he was a top pick) then he could or is suppose to develop into an impact hitter, just like Sosa was suppose to do. again, colvin was a reach in the first. he reminded wilken of alex rios. i think wilken mentions the name alex rios to anyone who talks to him, and alex rios is a good player, but nobody to go around bragging about as the crown jewel of your scouting career. IIRC, the Cubs also took him that high out of fear the Kenny Williams & the White Sox were going to take him with their pick.
  19. None. Thanks, Mr. Sabean! Why would they trade him? They have a hell of a 1-2 with Lincecum and Cain, and can rebuild around those two. Why trade that away? SF has an abundance of pitching and nothing position player wise. Cain does have good trade value and could bring in players that can help SF build up. I like Cain, but he has been erratic this year. He pitches an excellent game against the Cubs then goes out yesterday and has a bad outing against the Dodgers. It has been like that for him this year. So this could be an example of selling high. Sabean has a two year deal (I think). So, he may feel the need to acquire some good talent (ie: good young hitters) in hopes that next year they can compete/win the division. Which isn't entirely impossible in that division. Although, it's possible that any move/non-move that Sabean makes will blow up in his face and I say this because he is Brian Sabean.
