  1. Wieters is in AA. Milb is wrong. He is on the Bowie BaySox OPS 1.081 in 42 plate appearances. Limited plate appearances so far. But, thought I'd throw it out there.
  2. He'd be an upgrade in the back end of our rotation and he's a free agent after this season. He wouldn't provide a 1-2 punch with Zambrano in the playoffs, I'll grant that, but he would definitely win the Cubs a few games that they might not win if Marquis/Gallagher/Marshall is pitching instead. He helps the bullpen because he does provide 6 IP consistently. This would be welcomed as the season goes on.
  3. And Joe Morgan continues to prove his ignorance as Gammons gave that report.
  4. They need position players badly in SF. They have good pitching in their minor league system. Cain would be costly and I'm not sure the Cubs could offer anything all that enticing. Heck they haven't produce a position player of much merit since Will Clark. Vitters might interest them, but that I think that gets a bit messy because it would be a PTBNL trade. This being said never underestimate the stupidity that is Brian Sabean.
  5. They just talked about the news in the Milwaukee JS. So its getting around. Buster Olney reported it on Baseball Tonight...it was a breaking news segment. The headline was "CC Sabathia traded to the Brewers".
  6. If the Cubs want a pitcher in return, Jeff Niemann might be available. His prospect status has fallen considerably and the Rays might be willing to part with him if they feel they want Murton's bat off the bench for playoff push.
  7. Since, they wouldn't give up a top pitching propect for Murton make a push for outfielder Desmond Jennings. Although I don't think they would do that either.
  8. Melvin confirms offer made..... LaPorta and a couple of other propsects(not named) Answer from the Indians expected today or tomorrow. according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel http://www.wjfw.com/stories.html?sku=20080706103227
  9. If he continues to have the players that he does behind him in the lineup then his best bet is to hit for power, imo. His power numbers have gone up, so maybe he his learning/adjusting in that area. Personally, I don't like Escobar either. If I'm the Brewers I want LaPorta & Michael Brantley. I also happen to like Caleb Gindl in A+.
  10. Escobar bats second in the Huntsville lineup. He is then followed by.... Gamel Salome LaPorta Gillespie Errecart He would see a lot of strikes with pitchers recognizing who's to follow. That's probably why his slg percentage has gone up. Although he is still only 21 years old. So, the other side of the coin is that he could be learning/adjusting and be coming into his own a bit as he gets more professional experience.
  11. I'm pretty sure I'd rather have him than Izturis, who they wound up with. Both made 4.15M last season. This year: Cardinals are paying Izturis 2.85M White Sox are paying Uribe 4.5M I'll take Izturis.
  12. Maybe you have never heard the tale of So Taguchi and Tony LaRussa. ????
  13. I just turned the game on. Is that Marv Albert's son & Karros?
  14. Fans who don't call their local Fox outlet and raise holy hell ?? It wouldn't matter. They want to show Cincinnatti hometown hero Kevin Youkillis. ;)
  15. Interested in Juan Uribe? Really? Wow. Just wow.
  16. to be fair, steroids do have a known link to angry outbursts. He can't afford any fines due to his anger or it might jeopardize the money earned that is alotted to his wife's equestrian training.
  17. Every team in baseball today is wearing the special 4th of July hats. They're trying to do it at least once in each ballpark, which is why they were worn in SF. Except the White Sox who went with the camouflage today. http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5g_WAoRwxI__bu620gJAPoMJqPToQD91NDI800
