  1. Good thing they didn't trade him for Craig Wilson.
  2. I went with Juan Pierre. I have no idea what he can bring considering he is a free agent at the end of the season, but I would be happy if the Cubs received a financial compensation. I want him gone. I would have less problem with his struggles if he was moved to eighth in the order, but as long as Baker is manager he will be leadoff. So, I think he needs to go. If they can get a minor leaguer or even money from a team in the playoff hunt then the Cubs should take it. At least they will have something to show for the young arms they gave up. Even having to type this is depressing.
  3. ESPN currently has a clock running at the bottom of the screen titled "Countdown To Clemens" and it is currently at 22 minutes: 20 seconds. This is just absurd!
  4. Actually, the Trib says both he and Riske have been suspended. Riske 3 games, Ozzie 1 game... http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/whitesox/cs-060622soxsuspensions,1,2741476.story?coll=chi-sportsnew-hed I think the Tribune report is in regards to the throwing incident with the Cardinals. The Score670 report is in regards to Ozzie's assessment of Jay Mariotti.
  5. I haven't seen this posted in any of the Guillen thread as of yet. Per the Score670..........Guillen will be fined a undisclosed amount of money and ordered to take "some sort of" sensitivity training. Yes they reported it as "some sort of" sensitivity training.
  6. I'd do it, but I'd ask for Josh Fields in return. That is a bad precedent to set. A lot of teams and their fans don't necessarily like the Cubs because of the onslaught of Cub fans to their ballpark. Sure they like revenue it brings, but if they could keep the Cubs talent level down by fleecing or choosing not to deal with them then those clubs would still get the revenue from the devoted Cub fan base while helping in the fact that the Cubs have a untalented team(or at least not talent that they themselves provided to the Cubs). If the Cubs refuse to deal with the Sox or only make deals that seem lopsided, then they only give merit to other teams taking that same type of approach with the Cubs. Trading is one of the business aspects of baseball and this would just be bad business.
  7. Well, there goes the one game win streak.
  8. No mention of this from Len, only that Wood started to feel fatigued after 60 pitches. Just different words. Len said he didn't feel good after 60 pitches. He didn't feel "something". Way for the original poster to spin it negatively. He said he felt fatigued. I guess that's "something", but historically, in the past, "something" constituted an injury or tightness. Let's remember he's 5 starts removed from Shoulder surgery, it might take a little more playing time to get back to normal status and normal recovery status. Then again, we can insinuate his "bad" character and spread BS lies about him breaking boomboxes even though he came on the radio and unequivocally denied doing that and/or talk about how he's a joke and should retire at 28 or 29. Whatever. From reading the previous posts it seem that the original poster wasn't putting spin on it. He put the word "something" in quotation marks, so it seems that that is the way Santo referred to it. At least that is what I'm getting out of it. Well he didn't really feel something, he felt fatigued. Which isn't good btw, but it's better than feeling a twinge or something like that. I guess you have to blame Santo for that report.

He couldn't elaborate becasue it seems Santo didn't elaborate.
  10. Bad habit that he brought from Minnesota. He could get away with it on the carpet in the Metrodome.
  11. I figured that maybe your allegiance to DJaxx would remain, but then maybe and interest you have for the Cubs might wane if the D Jaxx became the minor league team of anothe MLB team.
  12. If you are a fan of a particular minor league team and even more so if you live in the area of that minor league team does that make you automatically a fan of the parent ball club considering that is where their future players are being reared? I'm assuming that is the case and if so what happens when affiliations change? So if let's say the Cub are no longer affliated with West Tennessee and a new team becomes associated with West Tenn. Do you become a fan of the new parent club and slowly move away from the old parent club, the Cubs in this case, as less and less players from your minor league team are part of the old affliation?
  13. By pantsing them as they circle the bases? ???huh??? No dictionary entry for pantsing. What do you mean? You just need the right dictionary. Ah yes, the dictionary that helps illuminate the queen's English.
  14. Maybe he did some things in college that made him look better than he really is. He's been a pro now for 6 seasons though and his numbers have shown, pretty convincingly, that he's no better than a bench player. Comparisons to the Corey Patterson situation hold no water. A 2nd round pick does not have the same value as the 3rd overall pick. And Bynum has never shown anywhere close to the same upside as Patterson. I agree that Bynum should be on the bench. Trust me I'm not fighting for Bynum getting playing time. I'm just trying to figure out what was seen in him. In terms of Patterson, I'm not even sure where that comparison came from. I didn't throw that out there.
  15. This was yesterday's game. I didn't see it posted anywhere. Pinto is currently 5-2 with a 2.64 ERA. http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/app/milb/stats/stats.jsp?t=g_wra&gid=2006_06_19_albaaa_iowaaa_1&did=t451&sid=t451
  16. It's less likely that Bynum will become a GOOD big leaguer. Are you seriously suggesting that Bynum has the same potential as Murton? Because I strongly disagree with that. Bynum was selected in the second round of the draft in 2000 by Oakland. My question is what did they see in Bynum? There had to be something there to be selected that high in the draft. Bynum ability to play all over the diamond with his speed and average power should give him a pretty good shot at becoming a productive player. Look at Patterson. I see what you are saying. But, even so I'm not sure speed and versatility alone gives merit to a second round pick. I wonder if they saw more in him or was it just a bad pick.
  17. You're confusing Cubs fans' attitude with Sox fans. It's Sox fans who care more about seeing the other team fail than seeing their team succeed (or at least that's the stereotype many people on this board have). Cub fans, however, care about one thing: Ending a nearly century old drought and winning a World Series. That means Cub fans would be in favor of any trade that would bring the Cubs closer to the promised land. If that trade also benefits the other team, so be it. Cub fans would NOT be in favor of a trade that's less likely to help them reach the World Series just to stick it to the Sox.You are correct that Sox fans have this anti-Cubs mentality and come off as anti-Cubs first, pro-White Sox 2nd. They still have this attitude after winning the World Series. Therein lies the problem. They win the World Series and are still extremly anti-Cubs. Before they won the World Series, I would be somewhat okay with a deal helping them. Now, I'm not. Your head must be ready to explode with the Cardinal/Sox series starting tonight. Seriously, who are you rooting for in this series?

  19. "Sit Back, Relax, and Strap it Down!" - when the pre-game analysis of the two teams ends What is it that I should be strapping down?
  20. Losing three out of four to the Cubs is worse than getting swept in a three game serie to the White Sox.
  21. No Cuban players. Castro.........I hate that guy!!!
  22. That's alright kids do not read these days.
  23. Cedeno defies all science. He actually picks up speed on his head first slide.
  24. So if the Cubs win tonight their record in Ohio this year will be 5-2 (I think). Maybe the Cubs need to move to Ohio.
