    He loved the trade of Maddux for Izturis. In fact, he was also all for the move of Cedeno to 2nd so that "Izturis and Cedeno can make a gold glove combo up the middle like Izturis and Alex Cora were in LA". That is more of what we could expect with Stoney at the helm.

    They're currently ranked in the upper half of per game attendance in the major leagues. Just thought I'd note that. If you were aware of that before your post, we define the word "pathetic" differently. A team with the market the size of Chicago should be doing better than just "in the upper half." It may not be pathetic, but Ryno is right, if they trade Konerko it will be on the verge of pathetic.

    91-93 mostly. He looks good, i'd love to see him use his curve more often if he is going to continue to pitch in relief. Last night he pitched well, mostly throwing his fastball to hitters while up by 12 runs.

    I'm high on his potential. He has good stuff, coupled with a deceptive delivery and is still young. He needs to learn how to consistently throw strikes if he is ever going to reach any of this potential, however.

    September Callups might be a much bigger added success to this season than in the past.

    I noticed it when it happened, but it coincided with me not caring much about the game. Same here, plus or minus 10 beers also. At that point i could have seen about anything.

    I don't know how big a deal 600 is. Over the next three years about 125 major leaguers will hit their 500th or 600th home run. Anyway, this is Ken Griffey Jr that we're talking about. And these are the Cubs. Anything that can go wrong, does. I'd give him about three innings before completely shredding his hamstring and being done for the year. ummm, what? There are 18 active players that have 325 or more home runs, so if you assume a 50 hr pace in 3 1/2 seasons, that is the line that im drawing. Of those 18, 15 are over the age of 35. of the 15 who are over the age of 35, 7 are not realistically going to get to 500, in 3 years, or ever (retirement). so of the 11 who aren't too old, or to far away the list of active home run leaders: Bonds - 751 Sosa - 602 Griffey Jr. - 586 F. Thomas - 501 A-Rod - 495 J. Thome - 487 M. Ramirez - 481 G. Sheffield - 476 C. Delgado - 421 C. Jones - 372 A. Jones - 357 and since you can take off Bonds, Sosa, and Griffey Jr. (since we're comparing him), and Thomas (since he obviously wont make it to 600), you're left with 7 players. And of those 7, only 4 are a lock to make it to 500 in the next 3 years). Only a few players (thome, a-rod, and manram) are going to get a good shot at 600 in the next 3 years. And when you factor in only 5 people have gotten to 600, the event will still be special. Umm, there was a good amount of sarcasm in his post.

    I have heard literally nothing on Posada and new contract talks, but it would suprise the hell out of me if they A) traded him and B) didn't resign him. But if they didn't have plans for him in the future, i would love to have Posada in our lineup.

    High ankle sprains are always awful news. They'll survive the ankle injury to Hall. Tony Gwynn Jr. is also available.

    Cedeno keeps hitting like this, its only a matter of time before he is called up. Or at least thats what an intelligent organization would do.
