  1. I see Colangelo's record as a mixed bag. For example, he had success in AZ, but basically had to be bailed out of the situation because of financial mismanagement. I wasn't entirely aware of that. I remember hearing that the Dbacks were operating in the red when Colangelo sold them, but what was the major cause of this? Just curious to know all the fact about the situation. He deferred a ton of salary. More so than the current Cubs regime has deffered contracts?
  2. I guess we know what motivates Santana. I just lost a lot of respect for him. That quote there represents alot of things that are wrong with professional sports today. QFT Jim ought to start clearing the decks now to make a run at him. Just kidding, but if he does hit the mkt I would hope Jim would make a serious run at Johan. As would any Cubs fan. In reality, what do we see Santana making on the open market? Is 8 years 140-150 million really out of the question?
  3. Question, where can i pick up a BA handbook? Is the only place on their site?

  5. When you skip the 5th starter, he becomes a long man in the pen. So, it's not like Miller won't get some work in the next few games between his starts. In other words, both will have opportunities to be evaluated as they come out of the pen. Right now, neither of them have looked very good. Since the beginning I have had the mindset that Miller would look better in long relief where batters only see him once. Ill trust the Cubs decision, but I hope if Miller struggles after 2-3 more starts they will not continue to give him a chance to start games. We have a lot of arms that are capable of starting, and if Miller struggles they should get the opportunity to prove they can get the job done.
  6. I'd rather see Colangelo put together a group. He has Illinois ties, and has had previous success in his sports endeavors (much like Cuban as well.)
  7. Went and watched a game two years ago at GABP. Aramis hit 3 home runs, and we got a big victory. It all went downhill shortly after that game... 87-66, then finished the season at 89-73  Anyways, GABP is a great experience and I would definitely go back again. I need to make my next pilgrimage to PNC and see a game.
  8. I agree, although id be happy with Depo, Shapiro, J.P, or even Kevin Towers. J.P would be my top choice. I'd love to have the combination of JP, Wilken, and our payroll working together.
  9. I'm still holding out hope that Colangelo finds a way to purchase the team. One question though, does he still own partial ownernship in the Diamondbacks, and if he does why can he go after another team and Zell can not?
  10. I've always thought that eventually this is what is going to happen.. The Cubs will end up building a new stadium, somewhere in Chicago. They will play around 65-70 or so of their home games at this new stadium (New Wrigley), and have key series/games played at Old Wrigley for a very premium cost. It was just an idea I had, although im pretty sure upkeeping two stadiums is nearly impossible for any major sports franchise to hold within their budget.
  11. No. Z's walks and getting beat down by the Donkey beat us. Harang gave up some hard hit balls. Lucky for him they found defenders instead of going for XBH. Freel and Griffey made some nice plays. Harang had good stuff, but he wasn't dominant. Seems to be the constant story for Harang. He has good stuff, throws strikes consistently, and goes deep into games. That right there is good enough to win you 16 games in the NL.
  12. OMG i haven't laughed that hard in a loooooong time
  13. I believe Cesar is in his final year, with a club option for next year. He makes somewhere around 4 million this season.
  14. I guess they are counting Piazza, Mondesi, etc. as pre-1995 Piazza has been up since 1992 Mondesi in 93 Don't forget about our favorite! Todd Hollandsworth was part of that trio of rookie of the years i believe. Edit: It was 1996 with Nomo being 1995 and Mondesi being 1994
  15. One error does not lose a playoff series. Tell Billy Buckner that, he'd appreciate it. There was still a game seven. That error did not lose the playoff series.
  16. Greeeeat news!!! Now lets go Bulls!
  17. I hope he means that. Well...he has held a spot for him for 3 years when he wasn't ready, so I would imagine he has his spot when he finally is :D At least I hope...
  18. Maybe its just my nature, but i am going to worry until a deal is finalized.
  19. I seem to remember that going into last season, the Rockies had interest in Ronny Cedeno. Thats about as much as I would give up if Hendry is really interested in Barmes.
  20. Going by Dewan's Fielding Bible, Jones is one of the worst outfielders in the game. Isn't it Dewan's that had Juan Pierre very high on their list? I seem to remember hearing about how they projected him as the GG winner in 2006, but i may be thinking of something else.
  21. Sounds, good I'm in!
  22. Carlos sure doesn't seem like a guy who is discontent with his current contract situation... I more than expect a deal to get done in the next couple of weeks, maybe a precursor to a magical year?! (yes, i know how this story ends also... :( )
  23. Can we trade them Pagan, and let them keep Andino....
  24. I know this is going to seem really off-topic, but this summer I am going to be interning with the Augusta GreenJackets (Single-A San Francisco Giants), and I was interested if anyone had knowledge of any prospects to look out for in the South Atlantic League? Have you guys seen any of the prospects in this league? I'm looking forward to seeing a ton of games this summer, and maybe even being able to give some insight towards any players we possibly pick up on the way!
