  1. I'd love him better if he was better at driving in runs with his glove HE SCORES YES
  2. Why should we expect a team to go 7-0 to end the season?
  3. Wasn't it 7 games left? Whichever, its still not much of a lead compared to a 3.5 with 6/7 to go.
  4. Even the staunchly anti-clutch FJM guys say that the MVP should have a little something to do with "clutchness", and for that reason I think supporting Marmol as our meaningless MVP makes sense. Marmol has seemingly been impenetrable in late game scenarios saving our ass time and time again. He's been our Bullpen Ace, and I actually hope he never moves to Closer because closers are so misused in this game.
  5. There is no comparison with 2004. We had a 1.5 game lead with 10 games to play in 2004, so far from a lock I can't even understand where peoples expectations came from. We obviously should have been the favorite but you also have to expect the potential for a letdown. The wildcard, by its nature, is always more competitive than most division races. Look at the wildcard this year, there are still 3 teams very much in it. We have a 3 game lead with 6 to play. (Now its 2 games with 5 to play) If we collapse here it would be the worst collapse of all time. Now if we avoid Steve Trachsel (and Piniella has hinted at so much) then I have hope we can avoid that disaster.
  6. because they've won 3 in a row? they lost 4 in a row right before that At least they haven't given up, like the Cards. It's interesting to see a team that won the World Series last year play with such a lack of pride. more like lack of talent Did Wainwright, Eckstein, Edmonds, Spiezo, Ankiel, Miles and that Pujols guy all of a sudden all become talentless bums? The moment Pujols got hurt, yes. Edmonds has sucked all season now that he's old, Ankiel since everyone got the memo on the hole in his swing. Eckstein is ok, Spiezo and Miles suck. You got me on Wainwright having a horrid game against the Brewers. He tanked it. Come on. Search your heart. You know it to be true. Chick Gandil and Swede Risberg were at 1st and 2nd last night for St. Louis, and Bud Selig was seen drinking bathtub gin with Arnold Rothstein. Did you know Chick Gandil could play first base without a glove? Isn't that amazing?
  7. One problem with that is them showing hits/home runs from the Cubs-Marlins series when the Cubs got swept. Aren't these supposed to be positive memories? One of those clips is definitely from the NSBB day game, which I thought really weird. I saw several losses in there...I guess it was more of a HR reel than anything. Weird seeing those Barrett shots. It needed the Derrek Lee inside-the-park home run. Man, that was an exciting moment. Bizarre highlight reel, about half of the home runs were in losses. I'm only halfway through, but I'm not seeing any pitching or defensive highlights, and that dissapoints me, as that truly is the story of the 2007 Cubs.
  8. Yeah, seriously guys, I can't believe people are actually expecting us to lose this division lead. I'm gonna get into a lot of trouble if I guarantee anything, but look at the numbers quickly. The Brewers basically do have to win out to give themselves a chance, our job realistically is to not get swept twice.
  9. ahahahahhaahha, thats hilarious. Now Illinois has the hardest game so far coming up. I'd really love to see them upset one of Wisconsin, Michigan or Penn State, but history says otherwise.
  10. I don't know about you, but I blame everything on Jim Hendry, solely. BTW, I'd love to have A-rod on the Cubs if he could play SS again.
  11. Doesn't youtube crack down on the copy right infringement on MLB's behalf?
  12. I could see Soto putting up a line like 265/325/375 (700 OPS), which would be just fine for a more defensive-minded catcher who hits eighth every night. Foolish mortal, Soto wouldn't even put up that line with a blindfold on.
  13. Plus, we aren't facing quaility pitching. The whole Marlins series the pitchers have ERA in the 5's. If you can't take 2/3 or sweep these guys you might as well pack it up. This should be over by Friday. We got swept by those fools earlier this year.
  14. That kid really is cute. Its so weird to see Theriot with a child, I always imagine him as a young guy even though he's in his late 20's.
  15. Awesome. Did I miss it? I just tuned into Lou in an interview. Damnit I really want to see this montage. Someone get it on youtube!
  16. This Braves-Milwaukee series has been one of the best I've ever witnessed this year. Gotta give the Braves credit for playing so hard with not very much to play for.
  17. Bears will still win the North. Gotta hope so.
  18. This is not a good year to be a Bears fan. THIS SUCKS
  19. Poor contact, 2 hits. Tough breaks, Zambrano, but just keep it together.
  20. I'm shocked he took that pitch. I'm also shocked it was called a strike because Zambrano didn't get that with 2 strikes.
  21. There goes our bunting foibles again. Anticipating hundreds of posts of how bad our pitchers are at bunting. I still don't care.
  22. Double play in order to get them out of the inning, fully expected to happen.
  23. Damnit. Here comes strike out, double play.
