  1. Incredible, when the Ump does his job we strike out the side Funny how that works
  2. Phillies up 1-0 in the 1st God willing, they'll be able to beat up on Mitchell Boggs, we know he's a world beater.
  3. Are you addressing the Umps or the Cubs?
  4. man screw this ump he really is terribly biased
  5. Don't look now but Lilly's ERA is under 5 This is totally going to jinx him too.
  6. gah, theriot almost gave up another 'hit'
  7. DeRosa sometimes looks pretty bleh at second
  8. Lilly up 0-2 on a hitter, you must watch out for the walk in this situation
  9. Dempster is a hilarious guy, I love him.
  10. Don't you understand? The curveball is never a strike, its too confusing for umps so they always call it a ball. Either it crossed through to zone too high, or it finished too high or something, they'll make anything up
  11. ARGH WHY LILLY I UNDERSTAND THE UMP IS CONFUSING YOU BUT DONT DO THIS
  12. Umpire has absolutely no idea how to call a strike zone, Lilly confused-wants to give up lead.
  13. Outs, plz No more stupid situations that you create for yourself
  14. They're going straight by the statistics, not by the talent level. The Cubs have the best ERA by a starting rotation in the National League. The Phillies have the best ERA in the bullpen. And the Cubs and Phillies have been trading the offensive total back and forth over the last week, so it really depends on which day they took their data from. So they weren't wrong. They were just looking at it straight from the stats, not necessarily looking at who might be better in the future. :? Kruk prefaced his choices by saying "I know the Cubs have more runs than the Phillies but the Phillies have more ways to score!"
  15. Hahahha, Baseball Tonight has got it all reversed. Said the Cubs have the best rotation in the NL, yet the Phillies have the best offense and bullpen. Ridiculous, our bullpen bar none is the best perhaps in the league, and our offense is definitely the best in Major League Baseball. Our rotation is definitely our shakiest area. Now i'm reminded why I don't watch this show much.
  16. They used to have such a superb offense, too, now they struggle to score runs on a consistent basis. Baseball is a fickle thing.
  17. I overreacted in the game thread, its a defensible time use him, but I'm not so sure if I would have done it. What needs to be considered is if Lou will use Marmol in a sane a reasonable fashion from here on out, something I'm not so sure of. Lou seems to panic when someone else in the bullpen falters, and then use Marmol in scenarios where he isn't needed. I'd like to hope that Lou's use of Marmol continues, but I don't know if it will. He very well could be using him like he did in April later in the season, pretty much every other day.
  18. Anyone that has a .400 OBP is impressive, I don't care what else he does. The fact that Fukudome does it with plus defense, plus baserunning and at least average power is a bonus. I'd rather have 2 Fukudomes then 2 Sorianos EDIT: A lineup of 9 Sorianos would score 6.6 Runs a game, a lineup of 9 Fukudomes would score 7.1 runs a game. Also, just for the record, a lineup of 9 Derrek Lees would score 5.3 runs a game. :| There are plenty of other people to go picking on, Fukudome is one of our best hitters in one of the best offenses. Seems like an odd time to start picking on him, he's started jacking home runs now.
  19. Those same Cubs also forced the Brewers into blowing a huge lead in June and won the division. You can't make a statement like that one year removed from blowing a division they probably should have won.
  20. Nor were the Mets concerned with the Phillies in late September. Anyone can make a run, and anyone can have a bit of down spell. Pretty much everyone is still alive, except the Pirates (and probably the Reds) EDIT: Whoa, and probably the Astros too, I hadn't seen how far down teh standings they've fallen.
  21. I'm glad we're talking about Marmol's usage, its a concern for every Cubs fans, but some other nuggets that haven't been talked about: Lee has now reached base in 9 straight games, went 3-4 today and has put together much better at bats. Very encouraging. Edmonds had a good day and is approaching mid .850's OPS, uh oh. :D
  22. I knew the Phillies wasted all their runs last night, c'moooon come back. God I hate the Cardinals with the passion of a thousand burning suns
  23. Sure took Howry a lot of effort just to get through 3 outs
  24. Well I think thats a tad reactionary, Howry definitely isn't going to be a great reliever for us this year. Oh well, you're not going to have a bunch of aces in your pen, its just not going to happen.
