I'm glad we're talking about Marmol's usage, its a concern for every Cubs fans, but some other nuggets that haven't been talked about: Lee has now reached base in 9 straight games, went 3-4 today and has put together much better at bats. Very encouraging. Edmonds had a good day and is approaching mid .850's OPS, uh oh. :scratch: :D

Well I think thats a tad reactionary, Howry definitely isn't going to be a great reliever for us this year. Oh well, you're not going to have a bunch of aces in your pen, its just not going to happen.

Eh, he'd still be available tomorrow and we basically have an off day on Monday so its fine with me. I'd rather not see him after pitching 2 innings on Thursday. This is still Kerry Wood we are talking about. Any use might be overuse. I forgot he went 2 on Thursday.

Don't place your trust in Jason Marquis. Eventually, likely sooner rather than later, he will let you down. Yeah, thats a given. I bet his next start he goes 3 innings 8 earned runs. Nah it wont be that bad but I bet he struggles to go 5 innings

Not in the past week and a half though. Marmol has started being pulled in the middle of innings even while being effective, or only being allowed to face one batter. Lou has clearly decided that he needs to save his arm a little more than he has been. If you look at the situations, there has been a huge change in Marmol's usage patters recently. He's trusting wood and Eyre these days, and he didn't trust anyone but Marmol a month ago. The trust (rightful trust) in Eyre is very encouraging. Hopefully now he has 3 relievers he believes he can use. He'd trust Howry if Howry didn't have the nasty habit of melting down just when you think he's turned a corner.

Its funny reading the thread and seeing "GOD DAMNIT LOU IS WASTING MARMOL AGAIN" and then seeing the "HELL YEAH MARMOL IS LATIN JESUS" right afterwards God I wish he didn't use him in a 6 run game though. I hate you Lou.

RsBI, I don't really care for anyway so I'm fine with it. What are Edmond's numbers as a Cub so far? 20 Games: .288 Avg, .328 OBP .503 SLG Also, against RHP: .327 AVG, .362 OBP, .577 SLG He is 0-7 against LHP with 3 Ks A younger Jim would have a better IsoD, ah well I'll definitely take that
