  1. Wow if I was Sheets I'd be super pissed they threw me that lineup against Peavy Of course they still will score 7 runs, regardless
  2. I don't believe a guy who tore both his ACLs should try pitching at all this year But whatever, if he wants to potentially ruin his career its his perogative
  3. Terrible, horrible and awful. The most painful thing about it is these teams will fight tooth and claw when we see them, we all know when the Nationals come to town they wont pull their "4 runs in a 4 game series" act
  4. It might not be a popular choice, but I would think Theriot needs to be in the top 5. He has been consistently good all year while playing every day, unlike Soriano, Soto, and Edmunds. I could not agree more. When I saw the list of the original 5, my first thought was that Theriot was not there. He does play every day and his defense is good. He's often and unsung hero, not a lot of flash, but I don't think the Cubs are where they are without him. He doesn't play everyday, his defense isn't that good, and he's only marginally productive. He plays a premium defensive position at about an average level (check any advanced metric you like, he's not terrible defensively) and has an OBP darn near .400. I don't care about the rest, thats enough to make him more than 'marginally' productive.
  5. Good lord I hate the Padres. They fought the hell out of us, made every match a game and didn't go away quietly. Of course they will pack it in vs. the Brewers
  6. Whatever, they are basically irrelevant at this point. We all need to just root against the Brewers.
  7. Cubs up 8-0 I HAVE TO USE CARLOS MARMOL MY N AME IS LOU PINIELLA
  8. Scary yet true. Thats Tony Pena Jr.-esque.
  9. This is dumb if he could have gotten through six with less than four runs allowed I would be happy at this point. Seems like an early hook to me. What's dumber is that Cotts is most likely not going to face another batter. With Rich "I'm afraid of the sixth inning" Harden coming up our bullpen might be in trouble tonight, somehow vindicating these annoying announcers
  10. I agree with this only because today we're in a double header
  11. Honestly these Braves announcers don't seem enthused by anything, when they called the Edmonds home run (I just saw the highlight) they pretty much approached it like a foul ball until it went over the wall.
  12. Honestly these Braves announcers don't seem enthused by anything, when they called the Edmonds home run (I just saw the highlight) they pretty much approached it like a foul ball until it went over the wall.
  13. I just turned teh game on, but Marquis wasn't making anyone miss, that at bat with Casey Kotchman and Infante is telling Did he look that way the whole time and get lucky or did he have them under control?
  14. Honestly this is something I've gotten onto right now. I'm of the opinion errors should be abolished completely and any time a hitter puts a ball into play and reaches base safely it is a 'hit' and helps your on base percentage. Errors were a nice idea on paper but now it ruins everything, there are plenty times a ball is an 'error' because the man is hustling down the line and forces someone to make a hurried throw, or an error is a 'hit' because a fielder can't get to it. There are basically no good consistent criteria for the difference between hits and errors. Its stupid, antiquated, terrible, much like many traditional stats. Similarly, why should someone get rewarded for getting a 'base hit' and getting thrown out at second? You are making outs, those are bad.
  15. This is true especially against, and I must stress this again because this is important, a pitcher we haven't seen Don't get excited Cubbie fans, we aren't scoring many runs
  16. I'd love to see his fantastic eye return, he was laying off EVERYTHING away and inside when he came in for the first 2 months, now he's flailing away. It may be fatigue and he's pressing, I really hope it is.
  17. Neither did I I thought they would be way worse
  18. Cubs have never faced Morton which means we're going to get brutalized today.
  19. Good lord the Nationals are complete trash God knows they'll figure out a way to take at least one from us in our next series
  20. I think the seasons from Dempster and Edmonds are way more improbable than the seasons guys like Ludwick and Lohse are having. Ah but the differnece is I hate the Cardinals players and I love our players Also we don't have a single player with a name more horribly annoying than Skip Schumacker.
  21. Cards are done They went with a whimper not a bang, kind of anticlimactic with all the whining we've (I include myself) done
  22. I'm praying to the god of the hebrews, the one that I share with Braun, that it is something that isn't career ending worthy but certainly season ending worthy
  23. are the nats going to score 1 run in this whole series? really? I know that lineup is awful, but I'm asking for 3-4 runs minimum here guys
  24. I'm not freaking out if we lose this one, you guys are making it bigger than it is. I was O.K. with us taking one in the series as long as we didn't get swept. We'll win of course, but again its not one of those do or die things.
