  1. We've done it before, like last year, in Milwaukee. I was at Zambrano v. Sheets and it was amazing.
  2. Here comes the inevitable Pujols walk off
  3. Judging solely on this game alone the Giants look like the worst team in the majors And they are like 8 games above us wootz mostly I mean their offense because its god damn infuriatingly bad it might be worse than ours
  4. Dude I was convinced of that by 2004 or so
  5. The first time I saw him on highlights on ESPN I thought he must have been a catcher with his...girth apparently he plays 3b, and like all typical San Fransisco players he doesn't have good plate discipline and might just be afloat on a good BABIP still probably their best hitter, damn that offense blows
  6. Their problems scoring go WELL beyond Soriano at this point. He is the number one culprit. You have a leadoff hitter who NEVER and I mean NEVER ignites a rally to start a game. I've been saying that for a while now here, and when he does snap out of it for short periods of time, the results are good. Soriano is hardly the "#1 culprit" for this team's offensive woes. He's been awful, but he's not causing the other players to crap the bed with runners on or in scoring position, which IS actually the number one culprit as to why their offense stinks. They also don't hit all that well with the bases empty and have an allergic reaction to extra base hits and homers Those are probably bigger culprits. Soriano just get the most at bats and has been really bad with them. They don't hit well, period.
  7. I refuse to believe any team, even suckers like the Nationals, are worse to watch than the Cubs all I have to do is point to the 8th inning
  8. Jake Fox with a nifty double play turned I almost wish the nutters had their way and he had been starting at a much earlier point this season maybe we didn't have to suffer through the Aaron miles duldrums
  9. Pretty much. Right after that they rocked Vazquez around for a few more hits, and throughout the game they were hitting the ball pretty hard off him. Horribly frustrating game to watch. Gotta hate seeing so many baserunners and getting no runs, and wasting such a good outing out of Dempster too. Lou letting Dempster hit for himself in the 7th was a bad decision. Don't need to overrate how bad it was, but it was a clearly wrong move.
  10. I'm not really sure if putting any replacement level player in for Soriano counts as 'forfeit' lineup. Theriot hasn't been much better. Anyway lets pound him like we pounded him last year
  11. Woulda thought they'd play Johnson against a lefty but lets see what Fukudome can do
  12. Well Dusty Baker did practically kill Chad Fox in 2005 so I don't know if this stacks up. This is upsetting because we have yet another bullpen arm we don't really want to ever put in a game. (Hart) Also, this might encourage Lou to overuse a beleaguered and not particularly effective Marmol even more.
  13. Yo manbearcub I don't think I've ever seen a bigger miss of the point in my life
  14. It might be time to give Randy Wells his first victory Can you do that Cubs?
  15. I strongly disagree. I think minor league coaching is very important when developing prospects. I think I value minor league coaching more than major league coaching. Why would anyone argue your second point?
  16. On what basis could you even make such a statement? How often do you see every single first basemen in the National League? You couldn't possibly be able to make a good judgment on how he compares to everyone else. I'm not trying to finger you out in particular, but statements such as "I would suggest his is still top 5" well... on just anecdotal and observational evidence its very hard to make a strong claim to that. And for the record I do think he is a good defensive first basemen.

  18. Blanco may be a crappy hitter but I enjoy his intensity and energy (I know meaningless buzzwords!) and somehow even though he's pretty much the exact same player as Cesar Izturis I can suffer watching him more than I ever could Cesar. Also he plays good defense. He's 800x the player Aaron Miles is, too bad we gave Aaron Miles a contract.
  19. Strike one to Koyie via gamecast looks very bad
  20. who else did we have? even though he's struggling he's still the only guy available who can blow hitters away in a tight spot. You...don't pull Marshall after one batter? well yeah but lou's all about matchups. he wasn't going to let him face a few righties in a row. I'm just telling you what should have been done, I'm not gonna play some theoretical mindgames about what is possible in Lou's mind

  22. God what a really brutal spot to put Marmol in when he's struggling don't know why you do it Lou
