  1. I really don't think there's anything special about Chicago fans, or Cubs fans. The stadium goes nuts when things go well, its quiet when they don't. They're pretty charged before games as well.
  2. wtf man i thought you didn't even watch the cubs for the past 5 years now you love that miserable freak? I just love that him going to an All-Star game happened. That a guy had to put all his concentrated talent into a 2 month window on a really awful team and that earned him a spot. I had to check and didn't even realize he never played another inning of major league baseball after 2012. Bryan Lahair, ML All-Star. I followed the team intermittently between 2012-2014. :hello:
  3. I'll still always love Bryan LaHair, MLB All-Star
  4. I think we can expect one of Castro, Baez and Soler to be traded before next season. Even if they don't, there's still some platoon stuff you can do with Soler/Coghlan, and mixing players around with Bryant bouncing around outfield and 3b. What I would really love to see is giving Schwarber a real shot behind the plate, because if he can stick there, then jesus christ this offense.
  5. I remember when we used to joke about the Cubs having like a limited pool of runs to dole out for each game and not want them to spend too many on each contest. I'm beginning to have that completely irrational feeling of "alright Starlin, don't hit too well!! save some for the playoffs!!" even if it makes no sense.
  6. Lester's ERA at 3.35 for the season now. It's been a really quality season for Lester, even factoring in his mild hiccups early in the season. It's too bad that [meaningless] win-loss record looks mediocre, but he's really been a damn fine player all season.
  7. Jon Lester has been pretty good with the bat the last few starts lol You know this team is going places now
  8. It's kinda cool that Dan Haren gets to end his career on a really good team and throw a couple gem outings (this one and the game against the Cardinals) I dunno if he has much use in the playoffs (would coming out of the bullpen make him more effective? It's not like it'll add MPH to his fastball) but it's neat for him at least
  9. whoa i really want to go to this now
  10. ok i guess that was more amusing than losing
  11. The Pirates had 16 baserunners and couldn't score a run. Stolen from elsewhere on the web: that has happened only 47 times in MLB history, no-hitters are more common.
  12. either win or lose the game, a miserably long relatively meaningless extra innings game is the only thing that'll bum me out
  13. The Pirates have 0 runs on 9 Walks I didn't know that was possible
  14. Tommy "rat Boy" La Stella, clean up hitter i wish we didn't have to play this game but you know, whatever. At this point I'm rooting for: Kris Bryant getting 30 magical dingers, Addisson Russell to get his OPS above .700, and Jorge Soler miscellaneous dingers
  15. something something benching something being pushed by younger players something joe Maddons firm steady hands and calming eyes something
  16. They keep hitting and they keep walking, they're going to score runs
  17. Yeah I think it's an absolute must the Cubs find two more starters this offseason, though I have no idea what the payroll flexibility and all would be
  18. The cubs greatest enemy, their own lead off double, remains it's scourge
  19. Ah man, it's too bad that was so shallow and Bryant had no idea the throw would be so offline
