  1. Hope the Bears can take care of business and get back to .500. Despite the fact I don’t think super highly of the Raiders roster, this Bears squad is really a work in progress and are going on the road. It’d be super nice for Johnson and Williams to reach .500, get a little heat off their backs, get breathing room to let the developmental process continue. Hopefully the team can hover around .500 and be a competitive team through most of the season because honestly at this point what I want is for people to just give them time. The breathless denunciations and proclamations after two games was too much - let this process play out. See where things are at by the end of season. There are a lot of good things in motion, alongside things that are potentially worrying. Deep breaths.
  2. Oh and please dear god find an NFL quality running back. Swift just ain’t it on early downs, and it causes me physical pain
  3. Nice W. It’s gonna be a tough, up and down season I expect, so savor these. They’re on the right track. its too bad the defense is a complete dumpster fire (they played well today but there just isn’t enough talent and pass rush on it left to be a very strong unit) but things are reaalllly starting to click offensively. You love to see it.
  4. Lots of game left for the Bears to lose this (and boy howdy I know they would love to) but I feel vindicated in telling basically everyone on this board to chill out and give Ben Johnson some time to install his offense It was always going to take time and flipping out over the first two games was overkill
  5. So the Bears are like, monumentally bad, like so bad we may be the worst team in the league huh. dont love that watched some footage of the Vikings and I feel vindicated on my McCarthy read (he’s terrible) but it just indicates that the Bears are unbelievably worse than expected. Cool
  6. i'm going to remain patient until at least midseason but man. I have waited my entire life for Bears Offensive Competence, and I fear I will never see it. Not once in my life.
  7. I would have figured having Johnson as a coach would mitigate offensive penalties. Maybe it’ll take more time for his offense to really get it together but man. Bears are gonna Bears
  8. I wouldn’t be shocked if the Bears surprise and win this one. I am not high on the Lions and Dan Campbell without his best assistants. I’ve long said I think Campbell and coaches like him burn bright but short… that kind of high intensity coaching tends to wear thin pretty quickly i also wouldn’t be surprised if the Bears look like ass and lose terribly and this is a Get Right game for the Lions
  9. Yeah I just… I understand being super deflated and disappointed but it was literally the first game of Johnson’s entire head coaching career and Williams’s first game in the system. I’m willing to give them like, 5-6 games minimum before I make any grand proclamations. The problem is every horsefeathers game they have is against a playoff team from last year. There are basically zero pushover games, which is insane for a 4th place schedule
  10. Ok maybe it’s because I didn’t watch the game live and I’m not in the states right now so it’s not hitting me as viscerally (I woke up to the score so I didn’t experience it as it happened) but man people are really jumping down the well of pessimism one game into the season. all the things you feel may be true but let’s give Johnson and Caleb more than a game maybe
  11. I have complete confidence the Bears will make big strides this year, but I’m not confident it’ll *look* like it in the standings because their schedule is so damn imposing and unrelenting. I have a bad feeling about tonight specifically but what can you do. We shall see.
  12. Scott Eyre!! Now that got me nostalgic. I remember when he and Bob Howry were our go-to 7th and 8th inning guys in the 2007-08 era. Good times Edit: I somehow memory-holed Scott getting traded mid season in 08 and winning a World Series with the Phillies
  13. I have to say it’s impressive to draw 7 walks and only score 1 run. Very difficult to do that.
  14. Hell yeah Dansby!! I am ready to declare his bizarre issues with RISP over
  15. Everyone's got a shot in the playoffs. the stupid 2006 Cardinals won a world series with an 83 win team. We gotta stop being so kooky about this
  16. I fully expect to be wrong - I was a famous Jayden Daniels Doubter, so we'll definitely see. I let my rooting interests dictate a lot
  17. I'm a hater, but I wont respect JJ McCarthy after they didn't let him throw an entire pass for a 2nd half in a close game during their championship season
  18. Ben Brown has got to be the most maddening pitcher in the majors
  19. I let out a laugh when I looked up the Brewers score. They actually appear to be significantly better against good teams than they are against bad teams. They’re simply unbeatable against teams over .500, but a human, occasionally beatable team against bad teams.
  20. I got a kooky kind of out there idea: score more runs
