  1. Shaw has just completely lost the ability to hit after his month long hot streak
  2. The 2025 Cubs have gotten progressively more hateable over the course of the season i dont enjoy watching them, they make me angry
  3. Kinda annoying to work a 3-1 count every at bat and then pop up/ground out softly every time
  4. God the brewers are so ANNOYING. It’s one thing to get donged to death by marvelous splendid batsmen, but they’re all .750 OPS mediocre guys who all manage to hit seeing eye singles to beat you
  5. You love to see a screaming liner from Suzuki actually fall in for an XBH. Those just seem destined to end up in an outfielders glove most of the time
  6. Boys: can you hold onto another 3 run lead in the first inning? It can’t be that hard
  7. I've been a Ryan Poles defender for the most part but the fact this team is 4 years into his tenure and talent-wise they really don't stack up with the best or even mediocre teams in the league is pretty damning. It's cool that he fleeced the Panthers in one of the most lopsided trades in the history of the NFL but you gotta do more than just accumulate draft capital, you also have to spend it wisely, and he's been subpar on that.
  8. It’s tempting to really scramble for explanations of managerial mistakes when your team does poorly in a playoff season but at the end of the day managers can only do so much and are operating in an extremely constrained space. Our two best starters are injured. We had to win a WC series to move on. Nothing is even close to ideal. once you get here it’s like 80% luck/baseball and 5% maybe something you can influence. Don’t ask me about what the final 15% is.
  9. Can Dennis Allen will this defense to being merely bad and not disastrous? That will be the coaching accomplishment of the season if so. They’re currently buoyed by forcing/accepting 4 turnovers a game, which is not something that’s sustainable. Can Ben Johnson accelerate the development of the offense to being decent to good as soon as possible? If both of those things can happen, like, now, they can still be in the postseason race by the really tough stretch at the end of the season. Odds are absolutely against that. But, if they can thread the needle, it would be a huge notch in their belts.
  10. Ok. I think thats the nail in the coffin - the Cubs aren't gonna win this series. Its written in the stars: We're not allowed anything nice. The second something good happens to us they respond IMMEDIATELY. We aren't allowed even a half inning of peace. That's a bad sign. Brewers get to be the team of destiny, thats fine. They've certainly deserved it for a while.
  11. i think basically once you get to the playoffs no match up is worse than a 60-40 split there's simply too much variance and the teams are all pretty good
  12. the 2006 Cardinals should be motivation enough for everyone to be excited your team is in the playoffs and roll the dice
  13. I also gotta say, as I sort of expected before the season (you NEVER know who's gonna be good from season to season), the upcoming schedule isn't nearly as scary as it was preseason. The Commanders are good and I expect them to be a huge challenge. The Saints are whatever and at the very least we should be on their level or better. There's never been a better time in the past 7-8 years to play the Ravens. If ever there was a time to steal one from them, it's now. The Bengals are trash with Browning as QB. The NY Giants are trash. The Vikings are also trash but keep stealing wins. I don't respect them at all. Steelers are whatever. If we're a "decent" team we should make hay at this time. We're probably not decent though, we're probably a little under average. But if we keep getting some progress from Caleb Williams and the defense stays away from Complete Collapse mode (I am skeptical of this), we could be in a decent, competitive spot before we go Eagles, Packers, Browns, Packers, Niners, Lions. (and even that stretch doesn't terrify me as much as it did in the preseason).
  14. I feel pretty blah about this series and the Cubs chances but its baseball and anything can happen and go the horsefeathers out there and beat the horsefeathers out of them
  15. I got a bad feeling about this game, would feel a lot better if Daniels wasn't healthy. the Bears 2024 season basically ended when they went to Washington. I hope the same doesn't occur next week. It would be a nice gut check for them to play well and prevail. It would be nice alone if they played well. I think our defense is awful and will struggle against a healthy Daniels. Let's see what Caleb can do.
  16. This is me at my most Boomerish but I hate football going in this direction. It’s too much like Arena Football. It should be possible to force an incompletion! I don’t want 80%+ completion percentages, it’s boring!
  17. I certainly don’t object to the process behind it, but boy howdy has it not worked out
  18. Michael Soroka has gotta be one of the worst trades we’ve made in some time
  19. I think it’s “cool” the game and perhaps the series goes to horsefeathers almost immediately
  20. Dude get the guy out of there he’s just not doing it
