  1. the 2018 Javier Baez season has been one in which I've learned to throw all my closely held Moneyballish biases away and firmly believe in a dude who just hacks at everything, hits for enormous power and has All The Intangibles needed to win the MVP I mean, seriously, more than anything else this dude has put this sorry team on his back and has willed them to 90+ wins
  2. The Cubs are a hilarious 3-18 with RISP today. It's a good thing its happening in a game where we have a lead and a good performance from our pitcher.
  3. I’m glad the Cubs are gonna win and finally put up some runs but it’s amazing how Baez has been like 80% of the offense for the last few months
  4. i need like 5 more wins before i feel that way
  5. oh my god jose quintana i horsefeathering despise you
  6. i legitimately have no idea who the majority of these white sox players are
  7. Gameday is showing that Baez struck out on a ball that very likely hit him in the head On the cool side though, his strike zone is like, all red for danger zones
  8. listening to the Score right now....Joe Maddon's press conference was not great. The tweet quoted is right, when asked about the blog post he said "Should I have read it?" Like come on dude.
  9. His quality of play has nothing to do with this: he’s a monster and he needs to be off the team
  10. Albert Almora was so determined to make an out there he didn’t waste any time with the whole “make the opposing pitcher throw a strike” thing
  11. With a hit and a walk today, Addison might be recording the elusive “improve season OPS in a game” that he hasnt done in like, several months
  12. oh god I forgot about Jason Marquis. He pitched like he, personally, hated me, but also ended up being basically average on the season. He was the first iteration of the Jason Hammel Type.
  13. For whatever reason I'll always remember that in 2006 in one of the worst seasons I can remember as a Cubs fan, where they played out the string after D-Lee broke his wrist and Dusty had completely soured on the team, that the Cubs went like, 10-6 against the Cardinals. (I looked it up at it was 11-8, oh well) Anyway its not a real thing but its the only thing I'll remember from that season. Neifi's grand dong in the 10th in 05 was also memorable. 10-6 against a 100-win STL team that season. I'm still mad that Albert Pujols got the MVP over Derrek Lee that year. He was probably better than D-Lee by a nose but c'mon, throw a bone here
  14. At least we had some good times with Howry. He was useful before he got TERRIBLE
  15. I just dislike Kintzler that much....it's no deep DLR love. Kintzler is legitimately one of the worst pitchers I've ever seen in a Cubs uniform. Maybe I'm being irrational but I hate this dude beyond measure

  17. Kinda sucks that 2 of our best relievers are very likely done for the playoffs I'm gonna be white knuckle ever single lead we have
  18. thats definitely the kind of Dad i'm gonna be
  19. I'm really really happy the Cubs are having some laughers against the best team left on the schedule. They needed it, and it's really nice to see some good offensive results. Kudos to the poster saying we'd put up 9 today
  20. Game 6 against the Dodgers goes down as the most enjoyable baseball game I've ever watched. yes, WS Game 7 was crazy and obviously had the end result everybody wanted, but NLCS Game 6 is just a masterpiece. Yeah I have to say Game 6 probably was a much more enjoyable watch in terms of pure mastery of the sport, Hendricks faced the minimum right? It was crazy. And just making the World Series was nigh unfathomable to me, that was the night I went down to Wrigleyville and walked among the drunk folks. I'm a crazy person so World Series Game 7 almost killed me, but ended the right way.
  21. If they fail, the Cubs were just continuing their trend of winning against aces and getting completely shutdown by nobodies I'm confident this is confirmation and recency bias on our parts, but I'm also not going to look it up and agree completely.
  22. now that KB has unleashed his dong for the first time since like, May, the continued offensive explosion is inevitable right? right? yes
  23. That was probably the least stressful win they’ve had in like 3 weeks. Thanks Cobs and Kyle
