  1. Well, to be fair, the three players the Dodgers traded have some intrinsic value, while the players we would like to unload are extremely bad. Even if this is a salary dump, I'm surprised not to hear more substantial names other than Bailey because Puig and Wood are both very valuable players.
  2. Bryce isn’t gonna sign until horsefeathering February right
  3. I already feel more confident with him under center than Jay Cutler at any point and I was a Patented Cutler Defender for whatever that’s worth. He still needs plenty of polish but if he avoids injury (that if is a big if given the way he plays) I expect him to be a very solid top 10 QB when he hits his peak. I don’t think he’ll ever be a top 5 Drew Brees type QB, and I guess that sucks from the stand point of the trade and the pick, but he’s a very solid factor and if you can keep an excellent defense around for a while a la the 2014 Seahawks you can snatch a Super Bowl with him. Come to think of it, I think Russell Wilson is a decent comparison.
  4. I will NEVER stop reminiscing about the 2005 and 2006 Bears
  5. Weirdly, Kyle Orton ended up having a pretty OK career, while Rex never had a completion percentage over 60% Anyway, we've had a lot of really bad quarterback play in our history
  6. God....that 2006 Superbowl....After the Hester return I thought for sure this team was going to win it. Basically the rest of the game was a huge kick in the balls. I also thought we were in for a decade of dominance and Rex Grossman developing into a strong top 10 QB. I had this idea that he had a really good 2006, but looking at the numbers, jeez. 52% completion percentage, 23 - 20 TD to INT ratio. Oof, those were far more pedestrian (bordering on bad) numbers than I remember. Also Cedric Benson. Holy moly did he blow chunks.
  7. I really miss Robbie Gould I also think people have really underrated that 2006 team. That team kicked a bunch of ass.
  8. I can’t believe there’s any debate at all over having a bye week at all. Yes, you want to avoid a round of the playoffs and you want to play at home. This is like, basic stuff. Numbers on how beneficial a bye week are will be naturally skewed because the holders of the bye week will on average be better than wild card week teams. (And also play at home)
  9. Haha I love that Joniak watches the game on his feet like a neurotic bears fan. I love his calls and he gets the energy right over the air but I didn’t picture him gesticulating like that in person. Good, soul cleansing win today. Not a drubbing which would have been nice but a solid win that established NFC North dominance and I think closed a chapter of Packers rule. Playoffs will be fun.
  10. The whole ‘Cubs finally win the World Series but are owned by a evil scumbag billionaire that helped get a giant piece of crap elected’ scenario really seems like the result of someone making a deal with the devil. Our pact was signed with the ink used to complete the trade for Aroldis Chapman It was a Faustian bargain, and one that worked in our favor, but we should never doubt it came with some darkness tinged with it
  11. I love that Ricketts is literally your uncle who can't stop sending chainletters to you even after you tell him to stop
  12. I just want Bryce to sign somewhere, anywhere, for this boards sanity. We're tearing ourselves apart, Lisa
  13. if the Phillies are out our only real competitors are the Dodgers (because big LOL on the White Sox, but I'm prepared to look like an idiot if I'm wrong on that) just spend the money fools. go into the double secret probation Luxury Tax you assholes, do it! Make it happen!
  14. Bullet dodged
  15. I will admit to being completely and totally irrational when it comes to the Packers. The week 1 game nearly ended any faith I had in watching football at all, and still feels like something wrong with the universe. Somehow, astonishingly, Aaron Rodgers only has one interception this entire season (Though he has more than redeemed himself, I'm still furious at Kyle Fuller for dropping that gimme pick six.) It would be amazingly cathartic to just beat the horsefeathers out of this team. I'm not expecting it, because again, I'm completely irrational. They're going to be awful and hideous and Aaron Rodgers will do some things that are physically impossible. I hate him, and I pray for the day he retires. It's unimaginably unfair that the Packers went from Brett Favre to Aaron Rodgers and they deserve 50 years of QB Hell like the Bears have experienced. Death to the Packers, Death to Green Bay.
  16. The most amazing thing was that LaTroy played until he was 42 and was actually pretty damn good his last season Always aspire to be a relief pitcher, you'll never want for a job
  17. If I was Bryce Harper and the White Sox offered me a 10 year contract worth 400 million, I'd still have to have a hard think about it
  18. ooooooh man I'm getting 2006 feels fellas!!!
  19. ok I don't care if its irrational or not but I want Parkey's head Cut this useless piece of garbage immediately. I despise him. He's the Chili Davis of the Bears
  20. Oh my god Goff looked like Caleb Hanie on that 4th down play Amazing, that should be game. What an exclamation point game for the bears defense. That’s a Super Bowl quality unit right there
  21. I don’t know how that wasn’t holding on that scramble there. Oh well, even if they end up scoring make them take several more minutes off the clock and milk this game away
  22. Was not expecting a low scoring slugfest. That says a lot about how damn impressive this defense is, but Mitch needs to get it together or were in trouuuuuuble
  23. It really sucks to lose two games to complete garbage opponents in heartbreaking fashion but if you gotta start your back up QB twice you’re usually happy going 1-1. Gotta hope Trubisky is healthy, even so youre in for a tough game.
  24. That sucks Not because I think it dramatically hurts our chances of winning (though it is a drawback) but because I want to see Trubisky play more
  25. Is Bryce gonna do a tour of various cities and get PowerPoint presentations like Lebron got in 2010 when he hit free agency? I don’t remember if baseball does that thing
