  1. ESPN says Benny Feilhaber is warming up.
  2. If you're going to give us credit for 3 missed chances, you gotta give them credit for the crossbar one...
  3. Belgian ref...guess we know what country to hate if we lose.
  4. He didn't say you couldn't tell him about the Eng/Slo game right?
  5. I'm not sure the initial argument about Ricketts needing to be in town is a great one, but this is a worse rebuttal. Who cares about the Nets? We aren't fans of the Nets, so naturally we couldn't care less about where their owner spends his time. Again, who cares? I'm not a Sabres fan.
  6. Great news! Also there's a rumor that the Canucks are interested in Ladd. Him and Kesler on the same team? http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=325347
  7. I thought I remember reading Saturday or Sunday Jon's right, Friday at 1:30 CST for winning Group D and making the quarters, Saturday at 9 CST for finishing 2nd and making the quarters and likely playing Argentina. http://soccernet.espn.go.com/world-cup/bracket Am I misreading something here? No game starts before Saturday by this bracket.... EDIT: nevermind...didn't realize he meant quarters...duh.
  8. Ok...thanks guys. I guess I just wasn't aware of some of the history involved....how long it was just the original six, and how fast and drastic expansion was. I still don't know that I'll ever hold the original six in the same reverence that many do, but I suppose I get it a little.
  9. Well Chi/GB is a division rivarly. I have no issue with Blackhawks/Red Wings hype. But nobody is circling the date for a Chicago Bears/Arizona (Chicago) Cardinals matchup, even though that history goes back just as long as Bears-Packers.
  10. He should hold a press conference saying how angry he is. Then make Aramis run laps for being bad No no. Being bad is fine. It's being lazy but still good that's a punishable offense.
  11. Unless Ricketts is going to fire Hendry, which clearly won't happen during the season, what else is he supposed to do? He has a General Manager and other baseball people under him for a reason. At this point in the season, what difference does it make if Ricketts is sitting in the bleachers or circumnavigating the globe in a yacht? People have unrealistic expectations of the team owners, especially when the team is losing...I'm certainly in that boat, and I realize that I'm probably not making my best, most logical arguments in this thread. There are those that want Ricketts to be as frustrated and fed up as we are. And you can't see that when he's in Africa or wherever. It's the same as the folks that want to see the President mad about the oil spill. It doesn't help anything in reality...people just want to see the same emotion that they are having.
  12. Well...ok...maybe that's worded badly, but change in front office personel and management is pretty much what I was meaning. Kenney, Hendry, Piniella, etc. A top down change. Maybe that's still coming...
  13. There's a myth that the Cubs don't have to do anything at all, and that the park will just magically fill itself up every day because the Cubs fans just want to go to Wrigley and drink beer. Thus far, the lack of any action by the Ricketts as far as the on-field product is concerned, and instead worrying about new ads and "fan experience" changes could cause one to think that they've bought into this myth. Now, of course, that's a huge leap to make that conclusion. But I think a lot of Cub fans had expectations of change when the new owners took over, and any failure to meet those expectations start people making those kinds of leaps. What it comes down to is that I want to see this team get better, so I'm probably just looking for something...anything...to get this team to start doing something about it. So maybe I'm looking for more information out of something like attendance figures than there really is. But I'm ok with that.
  14. My hockey newbness is going to show here, but I just don't understand the significance of an O6 team. There's no other sport that holds certain teams as somehow more important like that. There's no big significance to a Cubs-Reds game, for example. Just trying to understand it...
  15. They may still be hoping to package him in a trade with a valuable player.
  16. Rosenbloom made mention of it yesterday, but I refuse to mention anything he writes anymore... But attendance is down at Wrigley... Hopefully the attendance drop will start to get the Ricketts attention.
  17. More Lebron competition!
  18. There's barely been any rumors or anything. I've seen a few. hfboards.com is a good place, although you'll get tons of idiotic speculation mixed in with the actual rumors. Recent rumors include: Blackhawks want a 2nd for Versteeg, but whoever does that has to take Sopel as well. They are willing to move Byfuglien. A lot of teams are interested in Sharp. I definitely believe those last two. I'd really like to hold on to Sharp though.
  19. There's barely been any rumors or anything.
  20. I've reached the acceptance stage in my grief process.
  21. The greens looked like they were camouflaged today.
  22. Sounds like he went in a pretty painful manner.
  23. This is some good [expletive] right here....from yesterday... http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/columns/story?columnist=wojciechowski_gene&id=5298957&sportCat=golf
  24. Yep. Let me know when Hendry quits and I'll start paying attention.
