  1. even in that case he should know about red cards. Hey jerks! I know what the heck a redcard is but they made it sound like they were playing with one less player on the field. I mean sure they had a player who was unable to come back into the game but that wasn't what they made it sound like. Also I only watched the last 30 minutes so I didn't see the redcard which would have made more sense. I don't think being a player down would really be that big of a deal though, a well trained player should be able to play most the game without resting, its not like you are sprinting constantly, half the time you sit and wait for the ball to get near you. Was it a good player who was kicked out or a sub? You don't know what a red card is. If you get red carded, you leave the game. There is no substitute. You play one man (woman) down for the rest of the match.
  2. I don't know the details, but Scurry was on the postgame, and she was saying the same thing, but she implied that that wasn't a rule in back then and that she thought she was the reason the rule was changed.
  3. How is Dave Campbell not busy doing announcing work somewhere already?
  4. Wow...I recorded it and all, but managed to see the last 5 min or so of extra time. Good time to start watching.
  5. Not really, because they didn't rule on the antitrust lawsuit, just the injunction. Player and owners had a joint statement saying that they still want to get a deal done, and they're still talking today. Sounds like there's a potential for a deal by mid-week.
  6. Kerry Collins retires. Should be an interesting QB situation in Tenny.
  7. Michael Silver of Yahoo says that a deal is closer than many people realize. Also:
  8. No NBA deal. Lockout will begin at midnight.
  9. Nobody care about the Womens WC? I watched the USA match the other day. I'm not a huge follower of soccer, but it was entertaining to watch, though it sounds like they didn't quite play as well as they ought to have. Canada is down 1-0 to France right now.
  10. But Sharapova is in it, so it is. Only reason to watch tennis, imo.
  11. In news of the "no duh" variety, the Bulls exercised their option on Taj.
  12. This poll rules.
  13. Gone when, exactly? He linked the article.
  14. Wow. Hell yes. http://deadspin.com/5814233/the-comeback-pig-marv-alberts-tidy-post+bite-triumph Deadspin did a little Marv retrospective. It's fun to look back at stories that occured prior to the internet domination of sports news. I think the first time I posted on a message board was a year and a half after this happened. ESPN.com had like 1 post a day in heavy traffic times. He's 70?!!
  15. ROFL...I didn't even catch it after gooney's Rex Ryan joke.
  16. NFL to realign for 2012-2013 thanks to the Jets... http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/news/story?id=6706113 EDIT: Err....NHL.
  17. I think that's what Karl Pilkington looks like when he's angry.
  18. Others have pointed out that this isn't true, but when you're calling him lousy, who are you comparing him to?
  19. Non-draft discussion here. Looks like it'll be mostly lockout related, cuz it just doesn't seem like they're even to the point of being serious....
  20. The Boston Bruins bar tab: http://chzupnextinsports.files.wordpress.com/2011/06/funny-sports-pictures-boston-bruins-bar-tab.jpg This is what a $100k bottle of champagne looks like... http://a.espncdn.com/photo/2011/0620/bos_g_bsdrinkcup_576.jpg
  21. Not good news for NBC Thursday night comedies. As long as the games are on NFL Network, rather than NBC, I don't care. I DVR them, and one game between 2 mediocre teams certainly won't be appointment television. Not to get too far off topic, but live ratings are really important for a show's chances. Most of the NBC comedies already were getting a lot of DVR viewers, and I think this will only increase that. I suppose it depends on what programming is being replaced though.
