  1. Someone explain to me why last year we couldn't score on the PP, and had a great PK, and this year, at least of late, it's exactly the opposite?
  2. I know what you meant here, but I read this and I think "Oh don't worry, the Lions can Schwartz better than anyone!"
  3. [expletive] I hate shootouts.
  4. FB Tony Fiametta gets two year extension.
  5. There should be a facial expression station at the combine.
  6. http://www.blogabull.com/2013/12/23/5238202/real-madrid-not-going-down-without-a-fight-for-niiiiikolaaa Basically an italian article about Real Madrid trying to re-sign Mirotic. But man some of the translation is good stuff.

  9. Yeah, my bad. I explained that poorly.
  10. MLB Payrolls visualized http://mrphilroth.com/mlbpayrolls/
  11. It was "Illegal batting". One of the Steelers batted the ball forward in his attempt to bat it out of bounds. That penalty gave GB a first down (which is ridiculous, but the rule). The problem with it is moments before the illegal bat, the Steelers picked up the ball and lateraled it, which should have established possession and made the bat legal. But the refs claimed the Steelers never established possession. Since that's not reviewable, the play stood. However there's an argument that Tomlin could have challenged that the guy that tried to lateral was down before the lateral, and that if he'd challenged that aspect, they could have kept the ball. But Tomlin didn't do that.
  12. DJ Williams really hurt too. He played well in his brief time. I didn't think he was anything special. Basically if he was still playing, I don't think the Bears allow a significantly less amount of yards. Plus, I don't count that as a big injury because a) odds are he was going to get injured at some point anyway. b) I thought Bostic would be the better player. I'm not saying DJ Williams was anything special, but Bostic has been terrible. Williams had some good and some bad, but I still think it was a significant injury....it's a starter out for the season.

  14. The biggest offensive adjustment would be to improve the defense...not let themselves get down so big so early, so the defense can't tee off on them, and they don't have to abandon the run. The offense still had a chance to get back into it after 14-0. They went 3 and out in their first 3 drives, IIRC. The offense has to keep the defense off the field. What? That game ended when Hester fumbled. No it ended when the Bears went 3 and out, down 14 and Podlesh had his second 25 yard punt. Bears came out down 14-0 and ran the ball up the middle 2 times. Podlesh is dead last in average punting distance. He needs to go.
  15. The idea was not to talk about that game anymore. But that wasn't going to happen. Anyway, the discussion is all here now, so I'll just leave it.

Right, but 14-0 after 3 offensive plays? I'm not saying the offense was blameless, but they were definitely starting from a disadvantageous position to put it nicely.

  20. The Bears are the best scoring team in the NFC. If they get in, avoid SF, and avoid going to NO.... they'll have odds to get to the NFC Championship game. Yep. The offense means they can make noise.
  21. NBC will almost assuredly take Eagles-Cowboys next week now for Sun night.
  22. I think they're only hedging bets based on how much Sunday night's game means. If it's meaningful, he'll play. If it's not, he'll be the first guy they rest.
  23. Briggs medically cleared to play.
  24. Only 3 ESPN folks picking the Bears this weekend. http://espn.go.com/nfl/picks
  25. Yeah, it's in the NHL thread. :)
