  1. The Vikings defenses were solid when he was DC though.
  2. He's pretty much married to a 4-3, cover 2/quarters based scheme. Not sure if you guys want that or not. Fine with me. Defense doesn't have to be great. Just has to be average.
  3. Titans will apparently take their time and consider their coaching situation for a few days, per Ian Rappoport.
  4. I'm having trouble prioritizing defensive need for the Bears. They need players at just about every position. Best defensive player available for the first round?

  6. I was thinking the same thing. There are some teams that it'd legitimately be hard to continuously pull for over time. I've complained about being cheap at times, but that may have been Angelo moreso than McCaskey. Says the guy on a Cubs message board. I think it's fair to say the Cubs are legitimately hard to continuously pull for over time. Just because we're Cubs fans don't mean we aren't glad we don't have the same situation with the Bears.
  7. The GM is staying and will be involved in the search for the next coach.

I've complained about being cheap at times, but that may have been Angelo moreso than McCaskey. Some of the biggest NFL disaster teams are the biggest spenders. And the Bears were never particularly cheap. They spent big quite often, they just ignored some important spots and/or failed miserably in a few others. Right...recognition and prioritization of areas of need, and successful drafting have been the Bears biggest issues for quite some time. Hopefully last year's draft was a turning point in that regard.

  10. Yeah, he's in complete denial that Cutler could be gone. Or he knows things. Marshall also predicted in the week before it was announced that Cutler would play in the Detroit game.
  11. Bucs fire Schiano and GM Mark Dominik.
  12. God help the next coach there.
  13. Lions are meeting with Schwartz now.
  14. @DrewMagary Well Lions? WE DON'T HAVE ALL DAY.
  15. If we decided to trade Briggs, what kind of trade value does he have at this point? I wonder if we could get a little more if we trade him to whereever Lovie ends up. I kinda hope Lovie ends up in Washington. Pair him back up with Rex.
  16. Did they announce he's not coming back or something? No, but he tweeted his precautionary "love you Chicago" goodbyes.
  17. Mike Mulligan just said that there's a hot rumor that Lovie Smith could go to Washington with Terry Shea. Said he wasn't joking, but Hanley was laughing in the background, so I can't tell how serious it was.

  19. I also wondered if Briggs might be done here. I don't think he's been happy without Brian and Lovie here. I've read where he's avoided interviews the last couple of weeks and has generally been unhappy. Thought that might just be because he's playing in a crummy defense. Getting some good players around him might improve his mood. He's always unhappy about something....his contract, crashing his new Lamborghini, etc. He always plays through it and plays fine. I don't take anything out of his performance the last 2 weeks. I think you definitely bring him back for some stability and because he's still young enough to resume being a pro bowl caliber LB. I could see it either way. We don't have a any LB's at all outside of Briggs, so that obviously speaks to keeping him, but he'd be a lot of cap space if you wanted to go another way and get younger.

  21. Have no idea how reliable the source is though. Although my friend just texted me and said Bears.com posted the story http://www.yardbarker.com/nfl/articles/jay_cutler_and_the_chicago_bears_likely_parting_ways/15417016 That all sounds like BS to me. That would be incredibly stupid.
  22. No clue on the PP, but we lost some key PKers over the offseason. It'll get better as the season moves along. I keep forgetting that we lost Frolik.
  23. I hope so too but I doubt it. Why? Because I believe Emery and Trestman believe they can find a QB on the cheap and use the cap savings to improve the D. You're way off here Raisin. Emery already backed off the "no franchise tag" thing this week. Cutler's been pretty confident through this whole process that "thing will work themselves out". And why would an offensive coach want to go backwards? The QB is the most offensively important position in football. No coach wants to get a "QB on the cheap".
