  1. I was thinking World Series. He was apparently talking first round. Excuse me, please. I am having a case of the Mondays.
  2. He doesn't think we would sweep?!?!?!?!
  3. Seriously? Yes, seriously. The Cubs without Wrigley Field just wouldn't be the Cubs to me. Wow. Even more puzzling about this is the fact that you don't even live anywhere near Chicago... Even if you did, though, I still wouldn't get it. [-X What the?? How would he not living anywhere near Chicago mean anything at all? I was raised in Chicago. I lived in downtown Chicago for a year. I'm a Cubs fan. I currently live in Colorado. Does this mean that I don't get to have an opinion about Wrigley Field? Because he doesn't even get to see many games there? I thought that would be fairly clear. I don't know what the part about "getting to have an opinion about Wrigley Field" even means, but being a fan of a ballpark over being a fan of a team makes little sense to me. Being a fan of a ballpark that you only see on TV makes even less sense. Actually, on the other hand, that could be a reason someone like me would be more accepting of a new park, as I see Wrigley's pitfalls every time I go while on TV Wrigley is just a beautiful park and nothing more. That said, I'd miss it and hope they build the new park, whenever that may be, on the same site. Play a year or two at Miller or Comiskey, I don't care. So it makes more sense to you to root for a uniform? To me it's all a part of what makes the Cubs special. To change any of that would make me rethink my undying loyalty.
  4. I'll see if the Concorde is ready to leave D/FW in the next 15 minutes and get back to you.
  5. Sure. Can you swing by Dallas and pick me up?
  6. Are you running for office by any chance?
  7. Unfortunately, I do. :)
  8. A discussion on the other thread got me to thinking (which can someimes be dangerous). I'd be curious to see what the age breakdown is for those who want a new stadium vs those who want to stay at Wrigley. I'm not really looking for any arguments here. Just post "new stadium" or "Wrigley" with your age. Me- Wrigley, 35
  9. Seriously? Yes, seriously. The Cubs without Wrigley Field just wouldn't be the Cubs to me. Wow. Even more puzzling about this is the fact that you don't even live anywhere near Chicago... Even if you did, though, I still wouldn't get it. I was born and raised in the Chicago suburbs, so I have spent many a day at Wrigley. Personally, I don't understand how anyone could not love Wrigley that much. It is legendary, a baseball icon. I'm not even a Red Sox fan but I would be pissed if they tore down Fenway. Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I like the history of great old ballparks like these. It's more than just a game to me. Would you be OK if they took away the pinstripes? Or changed their colors to green or orange? There are some things that should not be messed with.
  10. Yeah, that totally sucked. They said you had to go to ESPN.com to watch the whole thing. How soapdropping stupid.
  11. Seriously? Yes, seriously. The Cubs without Wrigley Field just wouldn't be the Cubs to me.
  12. Now you feel my pain. Try living in Texas and having to put up with that crap. They have a hard on for the Cubs for some reason. They love to throw all the "Anyone can have a bad century" crap and Bartman this, choke that sh*t in my face. Meanwhile, their trophy case is completely empty. I really almost hate them more than Cards and Sox fans now.
  13. The Cubs better win the World Series before they tear down Wrigley. If they ever move out of there, it might just cause me to stop caring.
  14. :yahoo: \:D/ =D> :clapping: :good: :amen:
  15. Ugh. Brenly sucks.
  16. I hope I get the WGN broadcast, but if not I'm sure I'll be able to catch the Astros broadcast on an alternate FoxSports Southwest channel on Dish Network. That's one positive to living in Texas, I guess.
  17. Ugh, Jason Marquis and possibly Ted Lilly pitching in Arlington does not sound like a fun option. Hopefully with it being September, the humidity that causes the ball to coast out of that park will have died down some. From what I read, we would most likely get Z, Dempster, and Marquis in a 3 game series. And for the record, the humidity is not very high here. Nothing like Chicago or Houston. My bad, I just assumed that the humidity was why the ball always flew at Arlington. What is it then wind currents? Crappy pitching.

  19. There are rumors that they will play tomorrow and Monday in Arlington now that the Dallas/Ft. Worth weather looks clear for the next few days. The Rangers would have to move their next series back a day, but word is that they are willing to do it to accomodate MLB. Truth be told, the Cubs-Astros games would probably draw better than a Rangers game. I have a friend that works in the Rangers ticket office. He hasn't heard anything yet, but I should know something right away if he does hear any updates. This move would make my old man and me very happy.
  20. braves angels yanks giants rangers I don't think that the Yankees or Rangers have any starting pitching they could afford to trade away. Both would seem to more be in market for pitching help in the offseason than a one dimensional power hitter. I don't see how the Rangers can be included in that group. They are desparate for pitching.
  21. Woo isn't that bad. You people need to lighten up. As a goof, me and a buddy got our picture taken with him after the big Rockies comeback in May. He saw us a little later at a restaurant just down the street and he came and sat down at our table. We talked Cubs for about 30-45 minutes or so. He never asked us for anything and was very respectful. He actually has quite an extensive knowledge of Cub history.
  22. The great Colorado comeback. It was my first game back at Wrigley in 17+ years.
  23. Latest blog entry title.
  24. http://www.peeyourpantsforthebrewers.com/ Who here is ready to make their pledge?
  25. Cause Soriano is a good hitter. Agree, Soriano is actually showing quite a bit more patience than Lee, lately. Over the last 10 games, Soriano has walked 8 times, Lee 4 Derrek's propensity to swing at the first pitch with a pitcher who just walked 2 batters is extremely frustrating. That drives me soapdropping insane.
