  1. Carlos Zambrano had more HR's than Andruw Jones this past season.
  2. I would go and heckle him if he signed there. Good idea. Here's a couple suggestions: "Hey Prior, way to have your career tragically cut short because Dusty Baker drove you into the ground." "Hey Prior " "Hey Prior, you're richer, better looking, and less educated than I!" "Hey Prior, what's it like to get paid for not playing baseball for a living!" Fixed

  4. Well, the first period was great.
  5. Debating the moves is one thing. Posting crap like "OMG Hendry is a moron" or "We are automatically going to lose 10-12 more games this year because we traded one player" is just stupid and accomplishes nothing. Surely you guys can see the difference, right?
  6. I love these wild overreaction threads to every move the Cubs make. It makes me think that you have to be manic depressive to be a regular poster on here. One deal makes Hendry into a baseball genius that deserves GM of the Year recognition and the next one makes him into a clueless buffoon that needs to be fired immediately. One thing is for sure. A ridculous amount of numbers will be thrown around that supposedly prove one person right & someone else wrong and people will call each other names for not agreeing with another poster. Keep up the great work.
  7. Soriano Theriot Soto Ramirez Bradley Lee Johnson/Fukudome Fontenot
  8. Thayer was saying first round OL second or third round reciever I dont think we have to draft OL the 1st round, but one of 1-3 rds needs to be oline. I think we can be more selective then locking in @ 1st rd oline. Not to downplay the need, but the OL the Bears need would only be a RT. The guys w/ 1st round grades are typically LTs or stud guards. However, if the Bears can find a stud in the 20s, they should take him. Chris Williams hasn't exactly shown he can be a LT in the league yet. But I think the Bears should look at DE, FS, OL in that order. If you have 3 evenly graded players, go w/ defense. If you can get an OL that is graded higher, definitely pick him. LOL. You are fine with the group of WR's that are on the team now? Sure, if you are fine putting words in my mouth. Just because I don't see a major need to draft a WR in the first 2 rounds doesn't mean I think the position is fine. Again, this is a team designed to get the ball to the TE and RB. Both are great receivers. Hester is developing. Bennett is developing. Lloyd is ok. And how is a WR, without a QB to throw to him, is going to help this team? Berrian has shown this year he is a top 15-20 WR in the game. Bears offense sucked with him in it. What makes anyone think it will be better with a marginally more talented draft pick? I don't ever expect Orton to be a Pro Bowler, but he's not a bad QB. His numbers would look pretty good this year if every other pass that hit a receiver in the hands wasn't dropped.
  9. I'd be happy with a WR that can actually catch.

  11. Something tells me that if Tommie Harris would play up to his potential, the DE's would have a little more success. Brown and Ogunleye are pretty good players. I'm also not sold on the defensive scheme that Babich is running.
  12. Not really stupid. The only games being played during this game are Georgia/Michigan St and Nebraska/Clemson. The Outback Bowl will be nearing its end by then and the biggest game of the day starts after hockey. With the biggest bowl games no longer all being played on Jan 1, it's far less of a problem. You've got essentially the entire country sitting on their couches nursing hangovers and/or laziness and plenty of eyeballs available for viewing. I would like to see them try and do this either during the pre Super Bowl bye week, on Super Bowl Saturday, maybe even during Super Bowl pregames, or a week or two after the super bowl, when the sports world is dead. I agree on the Super Bowl bye week or the day before the Super Bowl. That would be PERFECT.
  13. The Bears need to sign a top flight FA WR (not an overrated Bernard Berrian type) and then draft another one in the first round (Michael Crabtree, Jeremy Maclin, etc.). Hester should not be counted on as more than a #3. The OLine needs to be strenghtened and a legitimate backup for Forte is needed. Give Orton some help and I think he will be an excellent QB for the Bears. I doubt he will ever be a Pro Bowler, but that's not necessarily needed for the Bears to be a great team.
  14. Great concept, but why the EFF did they choose to play it on the biggest college football day of the year? Soapdropping stupid.
  15. If he wants to play here so bad, tell him to sign a 2 year deal for $5 million.
  16. Boras is a master at driving up prices to ridiculous amounts, no matter how legitimate they are. Even if his guy gets less than the numbers that are floated out there, they are still getting more than they normally would. He got Tom Hicks to bid up himself in the A-Rod negotiations. I hate Scott Boras, but he's pretty damn good at squeezing every penny out of his clients.
  17. Hypothetical: Would you rather take $150MM to play for a World Series contender or $160MM to play for one of the worst teams in baseball?
  18. I sat by Jamie Lynn Sigler in 1st class once. we ended up hooking up several times before I went with my friends back to New York. You shouldn't have said anything, Sal. fixed
  19. Is he familiar with any players that DON'T suck?
  20. Furcal is going back to the Braves.
  21. Really? Because of the four offseason RF targets the Cubs had going into the winter meetings, Gathright is better than 2-3 of them (depending on how many games you think Bradley will last in the outfield). And that's BEFORE you take contract value into account. If we're considering those targets to be Ibanez, Hermida, Abreu, and Bradley, than there's no argument to be made that Gathright is even close to as good as any of them. Why is this comparison even being made? There's zero rumors floating out there even remotely linking us to Hermida. Ibanez is a Philly. Abreu and Bradley are being looked at as replacements to Kosuke in RF so he can platoon in LF. No one ever advocated Gathright as a substitute to Abreu and Bradley. He signed a minor league contract for crying out loud. If Pie gets traded, then Gathright basically replaces him as "organizational depth."Is Soriano only going to play against lefties now? I think I'd be OK with that.
