Hearing some rumblings that Charlie Strong is starting to gain some steam and that Strong, Larry Fedora, & Kirby Smart will be interviewed along with Sumlin. I still expect Sumlin to get the job in short order, though.
I thought about making that reference but I didn't think anyone would get it. I was hoping somebody would get it... Though I believe the spelling of the last name is different. It is Bozzio, but I wasn't going to split hairs.
Starting to hear some rumblings about Charlie Strong coming to A&M. Our Athletic Director Bill Byrne is about to get shanked and I've heard that the Louisville AD is a leading candidate to replace him. Supposedly UK's Mitch Barnhardt is another.
I don't think he can do much but McNabb is clearly a better option than Collins and probably better than Enderle. Did you see McNabb play this year? At least Emberle gives you a possibility of not every pass ending up near his receivers toes. The Collins comment was hyperbole but not by a lot. McNabb had a QB rating of 84ish on the season. Remember, Minnesota was good at getting first half leads early in the season. Granted, Adrian Peterson had something to with that. If only we had a great RB.
Does A&M have money for a big name coach between the Big 12 buyout and Sherman's buyout? I think Smart would be a great choice and cost effictive but he could end up like Muschamp too. Who do you consider "big name" at this point? We wouldn't have paid the nearly $5MM/year for a guy like Urban (not that I think he was ever a possibility) even without the Big 12 & Sherman buyouts. I expect us to hire Sumlin and pay him $2MM/year or close to it.
Are they going to be making a run at Smart or an SEC coach in general? The two names I've heard most are Smart and Sumlin. We shall see. wouldn't fedora be the no-brainer? didn't he grow up in college station? He did grow up there. Brother was a star baseball player for A&M IIRC. His name is out there, too. I'm getting quite frustrated with the powers that be. They either need can Sherman or issue a press release confirming that he isn't going anywhere ASAP. All of this uncertainty is horrible for recruiting and Sleepy actually has a very good class committed right now.
Has anyone else discovered this yet? I stumbled across it a few minutes ago and I'm amazed at the amount of great info it has, especially for a free app.
Oh I'm sure these rumors aren't anything new and I was quick to dismiss them when they first popped up yesterday. But there seems to be more & more credible evidence in this particular case.
Oh yeah, he's the one that threw the very questionable personal foul flag on A&M on the last drive that won the game for Texas on Thanksgiving night. I'm not saying he cost us the game, but the evidence is disturbing.
wait, what? Some Internet sleuths have been doing some work over the past 24 hours or so. Seems a Big 12 official who graduated from Tulsa had pictures on Facebook (the account has since been deleted) of himself wearing a Texas sweatshirt. They have also found a Google images view of his house and parked in the driveway is a car with a Longhorns sticker on it. Furthermore, it appears that he has been posting on a Texas A&M message board quite often about officiating calls and when talking about one particular call in a Texas-Kansas State game referred to the Horns as "we".
So is it a big deal if an official posts photographs of himself on the Internet wearing a team's garb when he actually officiates games where that school is playing? What about if he posts on a message board referring to that team as "we" even though he didn't actually go to school there? Would that be cause for concern?
