Then we're in agreement: We can put up with Zambrano, because he can certainly help the Cubs win in 2012. If Theo/Maddux/whoever can sprinkle some pixie dust on Z and make him pitch like we all know he is capable, then [expletive] yeah I want to see him come back. How possible is that, though? At some point you have to move on.

I know you're saying it sarcastically, but it's true. Teams (and fans) have a much higher threshold for transgressions when the player is really good. That's why it's not fair to compare Z at this stage of his career to athletes like Jordan. A better comparison would be Terrell Owens. I understand that's why people are giving a pass to their favorite athletes and trying to run Zambrano out of town. I'm simply saying that's a terrible, hypocritical reason. Whether or not someone is my favorite player doesn't matter. It's about wins & losses. If someone is helping you win they can act like a jerk more than someone who isn't helping you win. See: Dennis Rodman.

And while the Bears could really use a great WR (assuming TO could still be that), I would not sign him if I were the GM of the Bears.

It wasn't even a teammate. Santo went Sprewell on his manager. But he's just "colorful" because, well, I'll let the people who see a difference explain their motivations themselves. Quite honestly I don't know anything about this Santo incident. I'm sure that somehow makes me less qualified to comment on Z.

I have no "personal vendetta" against Z and I am not scapegoating him for anything. I wish he would've lived up to his potential while playing for the Cubs. But he has been given numerous chances. I think it's time he try someplace new. Now before anyone accuses me of wanting to "dump" him, I still think we need to make a smart deal when/if we trade Zambrano.

See the sig. There'd be no reason Zambrano couldn't be allowed back except for a few people inside and outside the organization grinding an axe and looking for a scapegoat. What goes on in the clubhouse or on the practice court is different then attacking your teammate in the dugout during the middle of the game when there are plenty of TV cameras to catch every second of it. Someone will have to refresh my memory on Ryno quitting on his team. I seem to remember him retiring abruptly in the middle of one season because of issues at home. Is that it? If so, that is a huge difference than quitting because you are sucking ass at your job. Look at the reactions we got from other Cub players about Z. They didn't hide the fact that his continued BS has gotten old. Jordan may have been a demanding bully, but he sure got results. Santo & Sandberg were (or should be) HOFers. Z doesn't fit into any of those categories.

If the game was played on paper there'd be no reason to trade Z. Unfortunately there is more to it than that.

That was my first thought. DFW is what, maybe a 2 hour flight from Chicago and Boston would be around 4 at least? LOL. This is such a dumb argument. 2 [expletive] hours extra (if it's even that much) are going to keep you from taking a job like that? -
So you think if that law is changed people in PA will start reporting false sexual abuse charges in droves just because they don't like someone?

You're analogy is horrible. JoePa is far from a "middle manager" at Penn State, this was not a first or even second time allegation against Sandusky, this was not two adults, this wasn't harassment and then rape after you found out about the allegations, etc.

Please please please. I don't know the comments about his family make it seem like he's hinting that he really isn't wanting to move. Guess is he stays put. If he really doesn't want to move he would cancel the Cubs interview, too. -
This is a steaming hunk of [expletive]. I'll agree that they didn't have the LEGAL authority to judge whether child abuse had taken place but they absolutely had the MORAL authority to do so, especially McQueary because he actually witnessed the event. And if this were the first time any allegations of this kind had been brought against Sandusky then I may be willing to cut JoePa some slack. But it was not. He failed big time here and he needs to resign immediately.

i guess that's the real question... what he thought happened with the investigation. did he think that the whole thing was swept under the rug by the administration? if so then i agree that he made a poor decision in not pushing for it to be investigated by police (but again, i don't think it's his place to go to the cops - he should have urged mcqueary or curley to do so). if he thought it was investigated and resolved properly, that's another story. or maybe he's just old and forgot about it. who knows. I don't care how senile he is now, this is not something you just forget about.

Yeah, I forgot to take into consideration that OU would have to beat #2 OSU for this scenario to be possible. But a loss at home against Texas Tech is much worse than a (road?) loss to Alabama. But I don't see a scenario where a 1-loss Arkansas would be ahead of a 1-loss Alabama. They'd be the SEC champ and have a better win than any of Alabama's wins (LSU). Yes, they lost to Bama, but those two factors should supersede that, one would think. They'd only go to the SEC championship game if they were ranked higher in the BCS rankings than Alabama to begin with (IIRC, that's the SEC's tiebreaker in a scenario like this). Any of the 3 could end up being the SEC West representative if that happened. Yeah, no way they jump Bama. The Tide would be the highest of the 3 in the BCS at that point.
