  1. A day before the House of Rep committee meeting that has no powers? Yep
  2. A&M Board of Regents meeting has been pushed up to Monday.
  3. Did Beebe pause to take Deloss Dodds' nuts out of his mouth to say that, or did he just say it mid-hummer? HAHAHAHA! I think it matters if they really care about saving the conference long term. UH would just be a temporary replacement until the horns feel ready to go independent.
  4. There's also a Texas House of Reps hearing on the 16th... They have no legislative powers whatsoever. The Texas legislature doesn't meet again until 2013 and can only be called into a special session by the governor. Gov. Rick Perry is an Aggie. 8 of the 9 members of that board have accepted political contributions (most of them have received multiple) from a PR firm that has been hired by UT and is heavily involved in lobbying. I'm sure they can, as long as OU decides to stay. They've apparently already reached out to the Univeristy of Houston to replace us.
  5. Well because Hollandsworth says so, I now hate Aramis. TRADE HIM AT ALL COSTS!
  6. The SEC university presidents are meeting this Sunday. I assume they will be taking an official vote on extending an offer to A&M. That way our BOR can vote to go at their 8/22 meeting.
  7. so some anonymous poster on a northwestern board says nd will blindly follow texas into the big ten? I guess that settles that. Not going to happen. The LHN contract with ESPN prevents them from being shown on any conference network. It's either keep the Big 12 alive or go independent at this point. The Big 10, SEC, and Pac 12 all have conference networks, right?
  8. Yeah, I don't think they have anything to worry about. Texas Tech and Baylor need to be sweating it big time. Although it appears that the horns are not quite ready to go independent so they are scrambling to find someone to take our place to keep the Big 12 alive. Rumor is that they've already contacted the University of Houston. I hope OU gets a good offer from the Big 10 or Pac 12 so we can finally finish off this lame duck conference.
  9. The conference is too strong? LOL. What are you basing your "analysis" of A&M on? We had a pretty good team last year and by all accounts should be even better this year. Tech and Baylor will be average at best. OSU is overrated and lost their OC. Texas was 5-7 last year and still has a lot of question marks. Mizzou will be tough, but we get them at home. Because aTm was a 4 loss team last year. Most people like to write off 3 of those losses because of the QB change, but for one, Johnson wasn't leading them into the abyss, and two, Johnson had little to do with the defense giving up almost 5 TDs/game in their losses. This isn't to say that they won't be good, but they're a team that should be expected to be a Top ~20ish type team who has to play 5 games against teams of that caliber. Sure they could win 3 of those and not slip up elsewhere(which would be needed to live up to their preseason hype, if not win 4), but it's not all that likely. Johnson turned the ball over a lot. His numbers looked good, but if you don't think there was a big difference in the offense from JJ to Tannehill, you obviously weren't watching. Also, last year was the first year under new DC Tim DeRuyter. The defense played much better at the end of the season. Just ask Nebraska and OU. We were thin at LB and took a huge injury there early in the Cotton Bowl against LSU. That didn't cause us to lose, but I think it really hurt any chance we had at keeping it close. This is a 10-win team.
  10. Currently ranked just below Alabama and LSU. Well, that's a preseason poll, the coaches poll even. They, and OSU for that matter, have too many losses on their schedule to finish the year in the top 10. I'm sure you assume we will lose to Arkansas and Oklahoma. What other losses will we have in your opinion? I'm saying that I don't think aTm is good enough to beat every team they absolutely should(including decent squads like Tech and Baylor) and then go 3-2 or better against OU, OSU, UT, Arkansas, and Mizzou. Same thing for OSU(replace Arkansas with Arizona) and Mizzou(replace Arkansas with Arizona St.). The conference is too strong this year, plus teams scheduled the non-con this year with 8 conference games in mind. The conference is too strong? LOL. What are you basing your "analysis" of A&M on? 11. I'm not saying they shouldn't go to the SEC, I'm saying that there should be some realism about it. Yes, they'll be free of Texas as a conference-mate, and yes, they'll be in a very good position financially. But with that has to come the acknowledgement that you have much less hope of being a consistently big winner in the SEC. I agree that many Aggies are delusional, but I haven't found anyone that expects us to move and dominate the conference. Suprisingly, most everyone is pretty realistic about playing in the SEC. We realize we will take our lumps, but that this is the best move for us long term.

  13. So we've been down 2 or more runs in the 9th 173 times in basically 2 1/2 seasons? Yikes.
  14. The Texas A&M Board of Regents have called a special meeting for 8/22. The agenda has not been published yet. This could be to approve a move to the SEC. Aggie recruiting expert Billy Liucci was just on Paul Finebaum's show and said he'd be surprised if we DON'T make the move this month. He's generally the most conservative of Aggie recruiting guys. He doesn't stick his neck out too much unless he has really solid info. And if we do make it official before the end of August, we would start playing in the SEC in 2012. The conference would be willing to go with 13 teams and an unbalanced schedule for 1 year until they could add another school (likely from the east) to get to 14.
  15. Can we trade him for Ernie Broglio III while he still has some value?
  16. The main reason we want to make this move is so that we're no longer the little brother. As long as we stay with Texas that will always be the case. The SECede shirts are over the top but if it helps get the message to our administration that we're fed up with the status quo then it's all good. I guess you won't be little brother anymore. I'm not sure what you'll be in the SEC, though, when you're getting pounded annually by Bama, Florida, LSU, Auburn, etc. Is that really a better move for aTm? Well if you look at it that way it wouldn't seem to be a good move, but I think we can be competitive. You may look at our recent history and laugh at that, but when I was in school (mid 90's) we were pretty damn good. I think we held on to RC Slocum too long and we started to slip. Then we made the worst hire ever in Dennis Franchione who drove our program into the ground. Mike Sherman has done a great job in a short amount of time to bring us back to the Top 10 (yes, I know pre-season rankings mean [expletive] and we need to prove it on the field). I realize that the SEC is an extremely tough conference, but we are set to field our best team in probably 15+ years this season and I don't see any reason why we don't continue to get better. The SEC will almost assuredly bring us more money and will give us a recruiting advantage over Texas that we will never have as long as we are in the same conference.

  18. I'll believe it when I see it, but there are rumors out there that Texas A&M has notified the Big 12 that we are leaving the conference.

  20. Instead of reading what someone else says about Nunn's commitment status, you may want to see what he has to say about it on Twitter.
  21. Some interesting reading on the Longhorn Network. http://themidnightyell.blogspot.com/2011/08/documents-reveal-intention-behind.html
  22. For the record, John Reese does not currently have a job on our staff. He has resigned from his HS position and it is expected that he will be hired at A&M, but as of now he has no official job offer. As far as KU goes, are you sure it's only 2? I remember ESPN doing a piece about this practice & the Jayhawks were the main focus of the story. Baylor was prominently featured for the hiring of a John Wall associate in an attempt to get him.
  23. Sure would be nice if I could watch this game.
