Isn't St. Mary's literally right across the street from Notre Dame? And Holy Cross is nearby too, right? Surely they have hotter chicks due to lower academic standards. And I tend to believe that he duped his parents in all this mess, too. They have no idea he's gay. They're pressing him to meet the "love of his life" so what does he do? He kills her off. No one to introduce to his parents and the grief over losing his girlfriend would prevent questions as to why no chicks are with him going forward until he's off to the NFL.

One issue with the presser is that the AD said Te'o got a call from the dead girlfriend while at the college football awards show in Orlando but that he waited a few weeks to say anything to his parents about it because he wanted to do so face to face so he waited until he was back in Hawaii over the holidays. Problem is that his parents were with him at the awards ceremony as well as the Heisman presentation a couple days later.

I think that might actually be worse. It would only perpetuate this culture of meathead that there is in sports and make it even more difficult for gay people to come out. The overall media storm would be pretty monumental. His combine is going to be media-obnoxious. It's not necessarily a sports issue. I'm not sure about cultural stigmas of his people, but a gay Mormon at a Catholic university would be a LOT of pressure for someone to deal with.
