  1. What will we (should we) do with Ronny Cedeno? He has been tearing it up at AAA since he was sent down (385/.461/.566/1.027 as of 6/27), but I'm just not sure how much faith I have in him anymore. However, I'm hopeful that he's gotten some really good instruction at AAA and they have improved his plate discipline and technique. Surely he's an upgrade over Izturis both offensively and defensively, but with Fontenot getting a start last night and Theriot spot starting, it's a bit of a log jam. I guess I would be open to demoting Theriot, but if Cedeno doesn't get enough AB's then he may regress to what we saw earlier this year. Selling high is certainly a possibility given his numbers right now, but it appears that Jim isn't one to do that. On top of that, who knows how many, if any, moves can be made with the new ownership dilemma.
  2. That's sad to hear, but probably for the best. 2 straight days off for Ramirez will mean that there's a great chance that he's feeling fine for the Brewers series. I'm sure Fontenot will start at second now-I'm not sure if it will be Theriot or Izturis at SS. I'd like to see Font-tastic get the start at SS again today with Theriot at second. If he shows he can handle it on a fairly regular basis then Theriot slides into the supersub spot and Izturis gets buried on the depth chart or traded for nothing in particular.
  3. If only one million, then that would clear up about 6 or 7 million for this year and next. Griffey is set to make 6 million next year(the rest is deferred)....interesting
  4. quoting a "national league" source. I guess thats an improvement.
  5. nothing new on jones. but thats no surprise, they just recycle articles that are posted on the web from the day before.
  6. The miami board had another poster that said the trade is for a single a pitcher. not sure where he heard that but i guess that means at least 2 posters claim to know about the trade on their board.
  7. yes, unless one of the guys who currently is on the 15 day DL is moved to the 60 day DL. Blanco would be a candidate for that if he failed his test this morning. oh yeah, i heard he was going to throw and see if it was painful and then make a decision. thanks.
  8. so does this mean that someone had to have been dropped or traded, since he's not on the 40 man roster? forgive me, if this is a stupid question.
  9. http://www.670thescore.com/ There's a link near the top left that says "Click Here to Listen Live" yep, there it is. i'm a moron.
  10. that's not fair. I haven't seen a pinch runner such as himself since freddie bynum.
  11. Is there i can listen to the score over the internet? i went to their site but didn't really see any link. maybe there is one, but the site looks like a 10 year old built it for a school project and i can't find it.
  12. and if he's a starter or a utility guy, he's still better than izturis.
  13. Theriot doesn't deserve to be sent down. He's supplied satisfactory defense wherever he has played and his bat is more that good enough for a back up. he hit .300 throughout the minors and BP predicted a line of: .269/.330/.354. That's pretty solid for a utility guy in my opinion.
  14. that would leave us with no true SS on the roster. Cendeno has been tearing it up at AAA for quite some time. We would probably need to call him up, but we need another pitcher...cut/trade izturis and jones?!?! i'm not holding my breathe.
  15. the fake rally isn't some made up mumbo jumbo, unfortunately 99% of the time its true.
  16. Fontenot seems to have pretty good range, but i've only seen him play a handfull of times. An IF of Ramirez, Fontenot, Derosa, Lee is pretty darn good.
  17. Izturis, Jones, Epatt, Gallagher to Toronto for Rios and low level prospect
  18. I think it's odd that fox but not espn has covered that idiot fan that about got to howry. I guess they aren't promoting that kind of behavior which is a good thing. I wasn't watching the game (until the bottom of the ninth 8-) ), was this fan just drunk or all cracked out? Just wondering what would make someone do something so stupid. oh yeah, go cubs, 5 in a row????
  19. when are they going to announce the jones trade? I'm hoping by the 7th inning stretch.
  20. Don't think this is posted anywhere else. Nothing really new, just more and more speculation. After this much talk and with the cubs wanting to call up one more pitcher, i'd expect this to be done soon. Take a prospect of anykind and hopefully someone will eat half his salary. Rotoworld: Jacque Jones, who hasn't started since Wednesday, could be traded in the next 24 hours. ''I'm not worried about it,'' said Jones. ''If it happens, it happens. If not, I'll be ready to play.'' The Rangers, Padres, and White Sox reportedly have showed interest in acquiring Jones.
  21. ah, i missed it! sounds like it was good, maybe they'll youtube it
  22. my gut feeling is this is just to make room to soto personally. I think they are ready to give him a shot and lou's patience(along with my own to some degree)had finally ran up with michael. He just seemed to never learn from his mistakes. I wish him well, but we werent going to resign him anyway, lets see how soto/bowen do.
  23. Something I've noticed with Hill(and presumably all good defensive catchers) as opposed to Barrett(and the broadcast pointed it out quite a bit as well) is that he seems to "frame" pitches better than Barrett ever did... if that gets our pitchers 3-5 more strike calls at the right time during a game that could be a big deal...and has nothing to do with "calling" the game...but is really something that you can't "measure" i was just about to post this same thing. I have noticed that far a while now, but not sure if was going to get blasted for saying it. I'm not exactly the catching fundamentals expert.
  24. Soto caught a few days ago, see if he can handle a couple more and then call him up. Bowen looks to be at the very least a good backup and I've been wanting to see soto for a while with his offensive production along with good defense(or so i've been told). There was really no way that barret was going to sit back quietly if they called soto up and let him play for a few weeks or longer. So in that regard, i guess i'm not too ticked off with the trade. I just still haven't decided if i like it or not.
