I have no clue (nor do I think anyone does) but hypothetically IF the Cubs and Twins are only two willing/able to go big figures for a starter between Darvish/Cobb/Arrieta and there is one of those that isn't willing to back down then i can totally see jake holding out into the season when teams may get desperate (either with their record or with injuries). quite possibly into the mid-season, even. who was the last to hold out into mid-season/ASB? clemens? or am i misremembering someone else (see what i did there)? I just see jake as someone stubborn enough to do that imo. and, honestly, it may not be the worst idea if the market isn't there at all right now. he's a crazy fitness guy so he would presumably still be in great shape and he would be resting his arm for a run after the ASB. though, i suppose it's much less likely a multi-year would be offered mid-season. still, if he was really well rested and went all out in that second half he could test the waters next year if he were god-mode jake for a half season. i don't know, i'm just rambling and thinking out loud at this point.
