  1. They did. They're not much of a threat though. Well, they'll be ranked next week when UCLA rolls into Norman. Ugh, I wish you guys were coming to Norman. The game is in the Rowl Bowl. WE ARE BAD. Our O-line is bad, our qb's are bad or inexperienced, and our WR's are bad or inexperienced. I blame this on our terrible 2003 recruiting class, I think half of the class have quit. It's looking really, really bad.
  2. oh, look, two of my bitches.
  3. ok ok ok, next year, beckett will win the cy young. i figure if i keep saying it, it will come true eventually.
  4. I dont lose in fantasy baseball, next year, youre all going down.
  5. He's good, too. For whatever "Win Shares" are worth, Edmonds is the best defensively (yes, even better than Andruw Jones), and easily the best offensively (yes, much better than Jones) this year. And Edmonds isn't having a great year, in the minds of MOST Cardinal fans. Hahha, now win shares mean something to you. No one cares about gold gloves anymore, except the players and their agents.
  6. From Jayson Stark's column today on espn.com Of course, he also mentions that Carp is the favorite.
  7. I'm fine. I took the proactive approach of punching everyone I saw last night in the jaw. Better safe then sorry. (if you're unsure of who I am, I'll be the guy punching jaws)
  8. Take Tex out of Texas and you have Ass. Just kidding, but seriously, he's not great out of that park. I'd really rather just keep Lee.

    It's done

It was a pain in the ass, but it's done. Go check your rosters and make sure i didnt [expletive] anything up.
  12. That's true, but you can't argue that Black QB exposure went up as soon as Vick started at Virginia Tech. Cunningham planted the seed, but no one watered it until this current group of QB's showed up, in my opinion anyway.
  13. No one complains about it because it makes no sense too, the contract he signed was a reasonable one at the time it was signed. The fact that Wood hasn't earned his money is something that you just have to chalk up to the Baseball God's. Injuries happen, and he was an injury risk. As much of an injury risk as he was though, he was just as capable of becoming a truly dominant pitcher. On the other hand, Maddux's option was something everyone was worried about at the time he signed. The fact that our worst fears about the contract (Not winning in 04, becoming less effective in 05) came true is why everyone is upset.

    draft!

DO IT. Tonight when I get home from work, im imputting the rosters. If you havent voted yet, you can just pick whoever you want off the FA list.
  15. Newer Orleans, IMO. Orleans version 2.0 Wouldn't it be Orleans 3.0? Or New Orleans 2.0. Ugh, good catch.
  16. Looking at the MLB leaders in ERA, how many in the top 40 are american born black athletes? One. How many in the top 80? Two. Why aren't there more black pitchers? Is it because, like with QB's in football, many are pushed to other positions at a young age? Is it because, this is a little un-PC, but is it because they are more athletic than their white counterparts, and pitching is a position where athleticism isn't as necessary? Whatever the reason, Dontrelle Willis could become something of a Mike Vick of Baseball. When Vick exploded onto the scene at Virginia Tech, it seemingly gave more black high school players the opportunity to play QB in college, and actually pass the ball. I really wish MLB would give Dontrelle more exposure, not only because of his incredible year, but because of the good it would do to the overall health of the sport.
  17. If he pulls off becoming a starter for a major league team, for any period of time, it will be one of the more amazing feats of athletecism in baseball in quite a while.
  18. QS is a pretty garbage stat. 3 runs in 6 IP is a 4.50 era, nothing quality about that.
  19. Newer Orleans, IMO. Orleans version 2.0
  20. If he really wanted to win, he'd learn how to hit. Hell, if he could hit, he might be undefeated.
  21. THE CY YOUNG IS NOT A TEAM AWARD! Wow, it's like talking to the wall here. No, it's not a team award, but should be based on how much you help your team, in my opinion. By the logic, you should be arguing Donetrelle should win the Cy Young. Because not only has he put up pretty high numbers on the mound but his bat has been key for the Marlins also. Carpenter has been so bad with the bat, and by contrast, Willis has been so good, that Willis actually has more WS than Carp this year.
  22. We've been discussing it for 35 pages because apparently, understanding statistics isn't an ingredient in Cardinal Kool-Aid.
  23. Yeah, that's great. But it doesnt outweigh the fact that Clemens has been so much better in his IP, that he has still been more valuable than Carpenter, despite the IP advantage. Obviously, you cant/wont agree.
  24. Yeah, I'm going to go ahead and assume that we won't sign them. It will make it less painful later on.
  25. It's funny, they say that the only stat we care about is ERA, but ignore VORP, RS, and EXP W/L. We've provide them some additonal stats, but they simply ignore it. And I'll say this for the last time. My case against Carpenter has nothing to do with his being a Cardinal. I hate the Astros, including Clemens, as much as I do the Cardinals. Ask my nephew how much I laughed at Clemens's shelling in the 2004 ASG. I hate the man, but I've got to give him his due. He's been a better pitcher than Carpenter this year, and therefore, should win the Cy Young. The ERA dictates all of those other numbers. It's like saying "I'm not eating sugar, I'm eating cake". Hmmm.... the number of runs you allow effects how good of a pitcher you are? Never thought of that one... WHAT IS THAT, SOME KIND OF MONEYBALL STATISTIC?
