  1. He's slow (4.80) but he hits like a freaking truck. If you can speed him up and teach him some coverage skills, he may kill someone on the field. for instance http://media.putfile.com/Slay-Hit
  2. Just wait till gameday, he paints his face all up in war paint.
  3. Especially since that guy went running back to his home state in free agency too. IMO that has a lot more to do with Ned Colletti's love of former Red Sox players (Mueller, Lowe, Nomar, etc) than with Nomar's actual wishes. I was actually thinking of Maddux, but I guess he's not from CA, is he. I need to turn my brain on today. Vegas baby, VEGAS!
  4. Is it June first already?
  5. That was Dan Cody, now a Baltimore Raven. Dusty is the guy that bashed his friends face in with a baseball bat and got kicked off the team for a year. From the draft guide I have, sounds like he was good at getting penetration in the middle. I believe he had some 18 tackles for a loss, which is pretty good, especially in a down year for the OU D. That's not as questionable of a pick as the preceding two picks. Actually, I've met Dusty, he's really nice and really, really smart. He also has (had) a problem with alcohol. He really busted his ass (he tore his bicep in the spring game last year) to come back and not only get reinstated, but to play well. He's a really hard worked and it should be cool to see him and Tommie in the middle again, seeing as how they came into OU as freshman together.

  7. Sandberg had a history of being not awful post april. Jones doesnt. Is it that hard for people to look at these things in context?
  8. I used # of hits too! :D you equated someone hitting .353 to someone hitting .261 because they both have six hits. Nevermind the fact that one of those players accomplished this feat in 6 fewer at bats. That is seriously the worst use of baseball statistics that i have ever seen in my entire life. Extrapolate those numbers out to a full season. Are you still going to say that two players with 180 hits are equal even though one has done it in 100 or so fewer at bats?
  9. Murton, Cedeno, Walker and Barrett aren't liabilities. They are all better than Pierre, at least so far this year. Ramirez, as bad as he's been, has been better. Pierre has been better than Jones and Perez, but that's not really an accomplishment. Is that the same Murton who was hitting .250 coming into the Marlins series. The Same Cedeno who is 6/19 in his last 7 games The Same Walker who is 6/17 in his last 7 games. Pierre is 6/23 in his last 7. Strange that 2 of the players have the same exact number of hits the last 7 games and yet you can say that One is playing terrible right now but the others aren't. that is by far the worst use of statistics i have ever seen.
  10. Forgive me - I am sick of the recent phenomenon of glib and patronizing reactions to people with differing points of view. you mean like calling someones post dumb because you dont agree with his point of view? that makes sense.
  11. Wow, this is quite ridiculous. The posters who post more are the bad irritating ones. Younger fans are the only ones complaining. In the interests of clarity, he never said that younger fans are the only ones complaining. To paraphrase, I believe he said that he thinks there is more complaining on this board than others because, in part, he thinks this board is a little younger overall. If he thinks that this board is "younger" than cubs.com, he must be new to the internet.
  12. you people? what do you mean "you people"? banned for racism please.
  13. Neifi is a bench player who brings a gold glove and flexibility to the middle infield positions yet still sucks? A LOT of MLB teams would take a gold glove middle infielder to serve in a backup role. yet he was somehow w/o a job until the cubs saved him (so he could save them in return, of course). I don't think the guy sucks. Everyone here seems to think he's horrible, but he offers great flexibility playing 3rd, short and 2nd, a left handed bat and a veteran presence. Compare Neifi to other backup middle infielders in baseball and I think he'd look pretty favorable. It's all relative.... do you understand why backup infielders are backup infielders? it's because they suck.
  14. As I've posted in another thread already tonight, check back in October. I'm sure you won't hear many people bitching if the Cubs keep up the current pace, but many people see plenty of reasons why the Cubs will fall well off the pace they've set to this point. You see us as pessimists... I see us as realists. Time will tell which is more accurate. I'm not saying this is you, but there's a big difference between a realist and someone who bitches about how Pierre and Jones suck after 19 games. My personal favorite is the guy who bitched about Pierre getting the ball out of the infield because of one bad game. Forget the fact he was facing one of the best left handers in the game...that doesn't matter. im not talking about just tonight, im talking about all season. a .280 obp in the leadoff spot. I'm sick of it and it's pretty much not acceptable at all. Has he been facing DTrain every game this season? Nope, and he's been awful. And we've had 991 games to tell that Jacque Jones sucks. This isnt a sample size issue, he is really, actually bad.
  15. Willingham this year .292/.356/.554 how is our four hitter doing again? people in glass houses yada yada
  16. they really shouldnt win 50 games, but Hermida (when he gets off the dl), Willinghammer and Miggy will be ok and the DTrain will pitch well.
  17. Ryan Harvey - .233/.270/.500 3BB/20K 60AB for Daytona High A (has ugly face) Lastings Milledge - .406/.524/.625 12BB/9K 64AB 6SB for Norfolk AAA (also has crazy hair)
  18. Please explain. Up 7-3, we line up for a field goal, kicker pooches it and does a terrible job, ball is going to land inside the 5 yard line and conceivably roll into the end zone for a touchback. Vasher, by all accounts a really nice guy, has a brain fart and makes a diving catch at the three. A play later a blitzing Roy Williams hits Chris Simms throwing arm, the ball flutters into Teddy Lehman's hands who strolls into the endzone for a TD, 14-3 OU.
  19. id like to thank Vasher for giftwrapping us the 2001 red river shootout. Thanks Nate.
  20. everytime i dont see jock swing is a good time
  21. I think how hot he has started out, both last year and after he joined us in 2004 has colored the average fans perception of what he has accomplished as a Cub.
  22. Oh really, i thought he was a power hitter or something. Youre telling me that Juan Pierre isnt a homerun hitter? Man I am SHOCKED. I dont even know what to say, up is now down, left is now right, right is now wrong, my whole life has just been turned upside down by your stunning revelation. I just want him to get the ball past the second baseman, groundball, linedrive, something.
  23. Please hit the ball out of the infield some time you freaking girl.
