  1. Lee doesnt look good, im betting he doesnt come back out for the next inning. He's still hurting.
  2. A single is better than a walk in most situations. A walk has zero shot of driving in a run unless the bases are loaded. Also, a single can move a runner from 1st to third while a walk cannot. I would agree with you that for your lead off hitter OBP should be the most important stat and that a walk is just as effective as a single, but other than that to say a walk = single is misinformed , especially for a middle of the lineup player. When the Cubs played the Reds, the Reds announcers were commenting and bemoaning Dunn's inability to put the bat on the ball in crucial situations. They also stated that he is either looking for a HR or will happily accept a walk. He is considered an all or nothing player by the people who watch him day in and day out. Oops, I meant it vice versa. No one is going to say that a walk is better than a single. My bad.
  3. Happy Ma...Boise Day! Pawelek and Colvin all in one day, hell yeah.

They will, in my opinion, regret not taking Brandon Roy. Roy will be the ROY and an excellent player. This happens every year. Happened with Wade (no I am not saying Roy is Wade), Chris Paul, etc. Teams are afraid to pass on a potential star instead of taking the guy that can be a consistent threat. Keep drafting on pure potential Bulls. I thought we stopped that crap after the HS kids and all the Euros didn't pan out. Guess we're at it again. Who was picked on potential over Paul? Marvin Williams? Deron Williams was selected because he is was better than Chris Paul. Poll ten NBA execs and ask them which guard they'd rather have WIlliams or Paul and if less than 8 say Paul I'll be shocked. After year one they would have all wanted Jason Williams before Chauncey Billups. I like D. Williams, and I know he's your hometown boy, but come on. Paul is the more complete player. Time will provide the answer. No he is a better scorer. Williams is a better passer, better defender, and runs a team better. Hahaha, you're drunk. Paul is so much better than Williams that it isnt funny.
  6. No one thinks that a single is better than a walk. But when looking at two players, if one gets on base significantly more than the other, it doesnt matter if that obp is registered via walk or bat on ball, what matters is that he makes fewer outs.
  7. [george costanza] Can't you desour? Why can't you desour?[/george costanza] Show me 2003 the rest of this season and all of next season (plus no DL), and I will desour. I don't see it happening, but if it somehow did, I would. be the best pitcher in the majors for a year and a half and you'll be okay with him? i'm pretty sure that's too high a standard. He set it. you set it. He did all that before all the injuries, abused by dusty or not.
  8. In 2004 LaTroy Hawkins blew 9 saves for a team that finished just 3 games out of a playoff spot. Dempster has blown 4 saves (if you extrapolate 8 or 9) for a team that's going to finish 20+ games out of first and make a run at the worst record in the league. Not much of a comparison if you ask me. i guess it's not if you're only comparing the blown save statistic.
  9. i like the tigers because it gives me hope that a terrible team can turn it around
  10. If he doesnt even know how powerful he is, how can a couple of internet chatboarders like us know? Give the man a break!
  11. Hahahahah, i like that he's basically saying what we've been saying all along, the manager doesnt matter, give a terrible manager good players and he'll still win. He wins if he has good players, loses if he has bad players, hahahah, way to go Dusty.
  12. You guys should write nsbb.com on the bags
  13. lounge love to da len
  14. BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!  or "i didnt have the ball, bitch"
  15. I cant decide if 98 or 06 was worse. In 98, we were just terrible, in 06, we were terrible AND we had expectations going in. I dont know. After 98 everyone said it would set american soccer back, but look at 02. Who knows what will happen.
  16. our players are bad at baseball

    Who?

.300/.355/.557 in June. Welcome back Aramis.
  18. i like >10/1 k/bb ratios
  19. This team is garbage, it's time we all came to grips. Yeah, if we win all of our series from now until August whatever we'll be back at .500. When was the last time any team won every series they were in for a month a half? If it's been done before I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that the team that pulled it off was talented. This team is not that talented, and the majority of the talent is on the DL (or just coming off of it). I mean, why just settle for winning every series? Let's sweep every series, that way we can be back at .500 in July! This team sucks ass, let it go.
  20. jeremy piven is the highlight of the season for me.
  21. Hahhaha, an older player can change a lot over the course of 6 years. Jesus, a six year split. Is the average career in the majors even up to 6 years? I doubt it. Why not a ten year split? Let's judge Maddux on his last 15 years in the league.
  22. livan has pitched in some pretty decent pitchers parks in his time hasnt he? He's ok, he has a place on a team, but he's no big deal.
  23. I wouldnt count on Palmer being 100% for awhile, he may be doing workouts and 3 step drops now or whatever, but he decimated that knee. I dont like your running backs either.
  24. I wouldnt be surprised if Hendry traded Prior. If Marmol and Marshall look decent for the rest of the year and dont break down, he may be willing to turn over the pitching rotation to the new jacks.
