  1. Give me a break, this is ridiculous.
  2. If Lilly is ejected, I will be pissed
  3. What happened last night? I didn't watch (care).
  4. You can get a good look at a butcher's ass somethingsomething chris farley
  5. Those look a lot like his numbers at AAA this season. That tells me that this time around he has probably relaxed, isn't making such a big deal out of being in the bigs and is just doing what he was doing at AAA. Either that or he is just getting lucky. Obviously, those numbers will come down, but if his batting eye can continue to mature, the Cubs could be looking at an excellent defensive CFer with a bat and speed game similar to Jose Reyes of '06. I'd take that. They will come down. But he's batting right after his best bud. That's gotta give him some comfort. I hope this duo continues to gel because I would love to see Soriano and Pie leading off the top of the order for many years to come. So far, they really have seemed to get things going really well. Probably because of how high their #'s are right now. . Remember that study that BP did last season that showed the incredible tangible effects of having friends on the same team? I can only imagine that those effects grow exponentially when they bat one after the other.
  6. I'm in on Vitters. I want to get him signed asap.
  7. I bet he's been traded and the bereavement thing is all just an elaborate ruse
  8. Yeah, no wonder, because a guy like this is actually one of the better ones. Cubs fans are always disappointed because nobody ever comes up and produces. Guys who become really good major leaguers do a whole lot better than what this guy has done at low A. He may lead the team, but that's because the team stinks. He's tied for about 40th in the league. i guess its a good thing you arent in charge then, cause you would have no doubt booted a 20 year old kid in A ball who hit .267 with 8 HR and 53 RBI in 1994 with 95 K and 42 walks and just 19 doubles in 126 games...then again he is your first baseman now...and sorry we dont have anyone hitting .425 with 26 HR and 67 RBI now...im sure youd find something wrong with said player even if we did... Derrek Lee was 18 then, not 20. You understand the difference that four years makes in prospect talk, right? I think you're a little out of your element.
  9. from what i have read today he is projected to be a .290-.310 hitter with 35-40 homer power Yeah, maybe if you total up two seasons.
  10. he could hit ten homeruns in a row and still not be worth $136 million
  11. this thread is awesome
  12. Clark Hardman is such an awesome name
  13. That whole OSU lineup was loaded this year. That's the fourth Cowboy hitter chosen, if I remember correctly. Mangini, Brown, Mach and now Wright.
  14. I agree Harvey or Burgess would have been a pick with much more upside, I think that pick had a lot more to do with the price tag then anything else And that's what pisses me off most about it. I agree 100% with you, a team that can spend 136 mil on soriano, 40 mil on lilly, 21 mil on marquis cant dish out a little extra money to a prospect with a high upside? It was very frustrating to watch I think the pending sale has a lot to do with it. All the big contracts were given out before the announcement. But the team was still for sale when they were given out, was it not?
  15. what a load of idiotic BS. he gets moved to the pen and gets hurt shortly thereafter, and it proves the cubs were right to move him to the pen? seriously, what a stupid post. Abuck, I think he was kidding. It's hard to believe that someone with that long a history of posting here would, in seriousness, produce a post as insipid as that one. I mean, the board has gone through the Wood/Prior debates so often that only absolute retards could continue to insist that a talented and cheap pitcher should be considered valueless just because he's often injured. Just a few weeks ago, this board- not to mention almost every respectable baseball analyst- crucified the Phillies for the Myers-to-bullpen move. When Myers broke down, the issue was even more widely discussed. To believe that Soul was serious, you'd have to believe both that he doesn't follow major news stories in the National League and that he's one of these posters who thinks that his feeling such as disappointment or frustration or disgust at hype should be given significant weight in personnel decisions. Neither of those seems particularly plausible, and since, together, those claims amount to the suggestion that Soul is a remarkably stupid baseball fan, it seems far more reasonable, not to say generous, to conclude that he was joking. I'd probably be banned for writing that. You also aren't responsible for the greatest post in nsbb history. He is. Brownie points, baby.
  16. Moustakas would be great. Hopefully the Cubs have been quiet on him for a reason.
  17. The start of college football always gets me wet in the britches
  18. I would flip the middle finger to MLB in record time. Seriously, don't draft the player you want because he wants a lot of money? F off.
  19. This is the greatest idea in the history of everything
  20. mid-eighties
  21. Someone is going to have to text me, because I'll be out apartment hunting all day. Who wants the job?
  22. How in the world does that make sense?
  23. i just realized that since i voted for myself, the actual tally is quite against me.
  24. I think you're having trouble with the meaning of the words "fact" and "opinion".
