    Stick to your guns, Sunny, at least it's funny. (Hoff is worse than Thorman, who probably just needs some time to figure out major league pitching. They could get someone like Howry or Cotts without giving up their best prospect and why would they want a B level pitching prospect from us, anyway? For fun? It makes no sense. Combined with the fact that you love to pretend like you're one of the few that is realistic, this is just non-stop comedy.) Oh yeah, the Braves would just as soon make Salty a 1B than trade him for the Hoff and some potential bullpen help. Oh, and a B level prospect. The only reason they haven't yet is because they haven't had to. They're letting the situation play out a little before panicking. PS Kendall is terrible, what the hell is wrong with you? He's slightly better than Barrett with the glove, and he's basically Neifi with the bat. The mind, it boggles.

    Someone called in WGN or the score closely afterward. He said his friend read his lips. . The pitcher (young right?) said. . . Young - Are you alright? Lee - Yeah (and even I could clearly see that in the replay) Young - Then take your base you #*@*#*@. Lee - What!? (again you can see this in the replay) Young - began to repeat himself before the punch. Lee reacted to the fact he almost got hit in the face, and then this fatso pitcher EGGS him on after hitting him in his previously injured wrist? If MLB could know the whole story fatso would get 3 missed starts and lee would get a day. . . . . if they were fair. . Young is like 6'10-260, he's not fat. Also, I'm pretty sure that MLB does know the whole story.

    First off, Soriano didnt "stand there and watch it". He totally did showboat, but he was at least moving towards first base the whole time. Secondly, players admire home runs everyday in a far "worse" manner than Soriano without huge fistfights breaking out. David Ortiz doesnt get thrown at in the head every time Manny admires a homer. Trying to put any blame for this on Soriano is stupid.

Yeah that big wussy threw at a guy who spent all last year rehabbing a wrist injury because he knew it would give him wiggle room for suspension and that Dlee has a reputation of being a calm cool collected good guy. If he wanted to throw at someone to protect David fat boy Wells feelings after Soriano rocked that fat boy he should have thrown at Sori's ribs and dealt with whatever repercussions followed, instead he threw up and in on a guy that had nothing to do with it cause he thought he'd get away with it. HE IS A PUD. If he threw at him (the count was 1-2) it was because he was our best player. It was definitely a dick move, going that high on him, though.

    From what we know of him, Lee is a really good guy. But a lot of really good guys are capable of overreaction, and at the moment, that's what it looks like.

    Interesting. So Kent and Santo have identical OPS+. That's still hard to believe that 350 homers back then took the same effort as it is does now. It's not just about home runs, though. Kent has 517 doubles in 7786 at-bats. Santo had 365 doubles in 8143 at-bats.

    Looking at Ronnie's numbers and considering the pitching dominated era in which he played, it's a complete travesty he isn't in. OPS+ normalizes stats for park and league effects (in other words, it gives a decent basis of comparison across generations). I completely agree with you on Ronnie, but Jeff Kent has an equal OPS+ over a longer career and at a position where offense is more of a premium, although with average to below average defense. with everything in the balance, it's pretty hard to say Santo should be in, then turn around and say Kent shouldn't be. Good point. Looking again at their stats, they are nearly identical at this point: Santo: 342 HR, 2254 hits, 125 OPS Kent: 354 HR, 2247 hits, 125 OPS I'm not a stat head, so maybe you can explain to me how OPS gives equivalence between their ERA's. Santo absolutely played in a less powerful era and hitter friendly era. I don't know, Kent's numbers for a player who played in this era just don't scream HOF at me. But 342 homers for a person who played in the 60's does scream HOF. Ronnie also was a much more slick fielder. Maybe you can LOOK SOMETHING UP FOR YOURSELF? just kidding
