  1. I admire your desire to be friendly and civil with your antagonists, but with certain people on this board it's a losing effort to attempt to do so. How is anyone antagonizing him? He's making what might be the most ridiculous statements ever posted on this board (and that's saying something, Mr. It was just a pocketknife).
  2. you said: and so i can only ask what stats prove that his evaluation on the psyche of a player that he has never met means nothing.... edit : grammar Like, baseball stats?
  3. your right IMB, it is lame. I should mold my personallity after the greatest poster of all time, you, because you never have had a post that was anything but respectful and enlightened, and you never get old to other posters. IMB for sainthood! But to get back to my question, and it is a serious question, isnt Soccer's post an arguement against the idea of a choke artist? imb's not the greatest poster of all time. meph is. I believe that Vance won the tourney here, fella. Yeah, but I got named in the Mitchell report for using posting enhancing drugs... 8-[ I thought that was Yeti... Why does everyone want me to name my supplier!!! The problem is, we don't know who was and who wasn't on PED's (posting enhancing drugs). Therefore we must assume an equal posting ground.

  5. What if Mitchell was on the list? What a conundrum would that be?
  6. "Daddy, why are you a cheater?" "I'm not, that report is full of lies!" "Ok. Well...On a related note, why did you throw a shattered bat at Mike Piazza that time?" "Go to your room" That's how I envision that going. That'd work a little better if the original poster wasn't most likely talking about Koby, his 20 year old son playing in the Astros minor league system. But other than that, =D>
  7. isnt this the arguement against a "choke artist"? and in Cuse's defense, he has prefaced his statements as "opinions" Mods, we REALLY need to weeding these threads. they allll are getting seriously off-topic. they are becoming the war of stat-men vs cuse and his crew. seriously, comon. This is so annoying. If you don't want to get involved in a debate, stay out of it or talk about something else. Backseat modding is about the lamest thing you can do. This, however, is extremely insightful: Look above you, he doesn't know what's a high LD% and what's a low one. Someone could dig up all that data, post it, and he'd say "is that good or bad?" He has a terrible argument and he knows it. When your whole argument boils down to "give me some numbers I don't understand and then tell me what they mean", you're fighting a losing battle.

  9. Hey Cuse, can you even tell a high LD% from a bad one? Some poor sap might spend hours trying to figure it out, only to have you be unable to decipher the data.
  10. I almost fainted
  11. oh yeah http://www.astrosdaily.com/files/gallery/Bell_Derek_02.jpg
  12. if fukudome puts up a .798 obp i will literally for reals cream my pants if he posts a 798 obp it's going to be because he started the season 13-15 or something (whatever the smallest number of PAs you can have to get a 798 obp) before being attacked by killer bees http://rapidcityjournal.com/blogs/sports/wp-content/uploads/2007/04/01.jpg http://www.astroasylum.com/files/images/bagwell%20night%202.jpg uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh http://www.visitingdc.com/images/bill-clinton-picture.jpg (i forgot the other one)
  13. Again, I use both but as I said, you're narrow minded and just see one thing. Honestly, I could care less what you think. Seriously, how can you possibly believe that thinking you see Prior fade away mentally when he is being hit can outweigh the facts that Prior has done fairly well when he gets into situations when guys get on? Show me your numbers after he gives up 4 or more runs...his line drive % numbers. I didn't believe you, but I just looked them up and you were right. LD% was 8%, highest in the league in 2004 and 2005.
  14. Send Theriot there for the possible drive by* *not to kill him, just to wing him or something.
  15. I think Sammy was juicing, but I love hearing people say that someone didn't get smaller during the season. I mean, were you really keeping track?
  16. I KNOW WHAT I KNOW AND I DONT NEED NO DAMN PROOF TO KNOW SOMETHING
  17. Nice of Merker to let someone order steroids in his name
  18. Hahhahahaha, if somebody gritty and Texan said that he'd be a total team player, but since he's some Cal-eye-forn-eye-aaaaa pretty boy, he's not a team player. I heard that his teammates nicknamed him sunshine
  19. I used to love Prior, but now I hate him. Not because of anything he's done or not done, but just because of all the stupid arguments about him. You've ruined Mark Prior for me.
  20. Sabremetrics and a Curb your Enthusiasm reference. Money.
  21. Hottest team in the league right now. Four big guys I pulled off waivers this year (Five if you count Hasselbeck) - Greg Jennings, Brandon Marshall, Ryan Grant and Justin Fargas. I'm like the USC of this league, a million running backs (S. Jackson, M. Barber III, C. Portis, plus the pair above). I'M TAKING WOLF DOWN IN THE FINALS (if i get there).
  22. This is a great trade...for us. Tejada is terrible defensively and is about to fall off of a cliff offensively. Even if he was at 2005/2006 levels, he's not enough to turn them into contenders.
  23. Ichiro is his given name, Suzuki is his surname. He started wearing ICHIRO on his jersey in 1994 on a suggestion from his manager with Orix (NPB) at the time as a means of making himself stand out within his team and providing a marketable icon for the franchise. He brought this over with him when he came to Seattle. "It was during the 1994 season that he began to use his given name, "Ichiro" instead of his family name, "Suzuki" on the back of his uniform. Suzuki is the second most common family name in Japan, and his manager introduced the idea as a publicity stunt to help create a new image for what had been a relatively weak team, as well as a way to distinguish their rising star. Initially, Ichiro disliked the practice and was embarrassed by it; "Ichiro" was a household name by the end of the season and he was flooded with endorsement offers." where did you pull that from? wikipedia? i wrote my entire thesis about ichiro and i can recite his life story from memory. IN JAPANESE.
