    The NBA thread

Are you going to have to get fired along with Banedon? Don't hate. "Kevin Love...thank god you're white."
  2. usually when two teams that i dont like/care about play each other, i root for whatever state holds my favorite city of the two competing teams. In this case, though, it's kansas city. not really a lot of help
  3. As a human being, yes. However, I don't admire Cobb as a person but as a baseball player, so that question is irrelevant. Do you actually think anyone believes this? Seriously, you have bent over backwards here to defend this guy when his actions were totally despicable. You are being completely dishonest here. I think anyone who has actually read his posts and not the IMB translation of his posts, would believe him. All he has said is that he was a horrible person that has had some things about him exaggerated. I didn't spin anything he said, go ahead and try and prove otherwise. For god's sake, he said that he didn't know what was worse, beating an innocent man who was just doing his job and then stabbing the person that tried to break the fight up or punching someone. If your head isn't spinning then you're just as crazy as he is. Does that count? Nope, sorry buddy. Saying that someone was a racist, but not a "terrible racist" and offering up his batting average as a defense is perhaps the worst thing I've read on this board.
  4. Second time you've insulted me by questioning my mental facilities in this thread. It's a ridiculously crazy opinion. I call em like I see em.
  5. That's hilarious considering some of the words that apparently weren't pre-censored.

  7. Whose idea was it to censor damn it? There's a difference between keeping things pg-13 and keeping things G, guys.
  8. Back-to-Back ROY!? That will be an accomplishment for the ages. he didn't win it this year
  9. Tulowitzki
  10. He wouldn't have lasted a season without getting suspended, what with all those uppity blacks running around. His racism+ stat would be off the charts in the modern game.
  11. They would still have to beat whoever comes out of the South in the Big 12 championship game.
  12. I thought it was a TD. But college refs suck. He got a foot down in bounds either way, but we still shouldn't have played so weak defensively.
  13. A more interesting question is what would happen if you met a girl in real life?
  14. I really think we got screwed there, but it's hard to complain with as bad as our defense played. Got to beat OSU next week to keep BCS hopes alive.
  15. Guys, the freaking NY TIMES backed him up. THE NY TIMES
  16. Such true contrition you are showing, it's remarkable. Seriously though, let's get back to how punching an ump is as bad as stabbing and beating the innocent again. I'm intrigued. Not going to give you the pleasure. I paid to get premium so I can block people like you. Tim couldn't get it back up soon enough. Really that was a trick proposition, because no rational human being could defend that position. You've given it a valiant effort though.
  17. Such true contrition you are showing, it's remarkable. Well, I'm really only sorry for breaking the board rules. I couldn't care less how sad it made you. Seriously though, let's get back to how punching an ump is as bad as stabbing and beating the innocent again. I'm intrigued.
  18. Ehh, it was a throw away line, I didn't mean to call him [expletive]. I can see how it would come across that way, though. Sorry OMC, you can come back and tell us all how punching an ump is as bad as stabbing and beating the innocent again.
  19. This conversation is over. Run! RUN!
  20. So, no defense of your position other than a fanboy "I wrote big paper over him"? Hmmmm, a person who spent countless hours reading microfilm from 5 different newspapers about all the major incidents of his career and has read six or seven books about the guy vs. you, someone who is uninformed about the topic and is relying on Wikipedia. Even the freaking NY Times sympathized with Cobb! Even the freaking NY TIMES? I'm on your side now. So what if Cobb was beating the handicapped and stabbing the innocent, Babe Ruth punched a guy! PUNCHED HIM. Just kidding, I think you might have mental problems. How informed do you have to be to know that Cobb was a terrible person. Obviously, in this case, not very, since I'm right and you're wrong. And you've spent your entire life garbling up every bit of information you can on the esteemed Mr. Cobb. It's a bit like a case of stockholm syndrome.
  21. So, no defense of your position other than a fanboy "I wrote big paper over him"?
  22. First off, Cobb didn't know the guy was handicapped (he had lost a several fingers in an industrial accident), and several of his teammates, including a few teammates who hated him, went into the stands with him after the guy. Second, Cobb only pulled a knife (which was a pocketknife that didn't inflict much damage anyways) after he was struck in the head with a nightstick that split his his head open (the scars of which he carried on his head the rest of his life) Third, Ruth punched several different umpires and assaulted his manager. I don't know which behavior is worse. Are you joking? Cobb knifed a guy who was only defending an innocent man and beat a handicapped heckler, and you're not sure if that is worse than Ruth punching someone? First off, I read that the guy was missing three fingers on one hand, while he was missing the entire hand on his other arm. When fans told him to stop because the man was handicapped, Cobb reportedly said "I don't care if he has no feet!". I'm sure you'll claim he never said that. How you can defend stabbing someone with a pocket knife, because it doesn't do much damage, is ridiculous. Cobb was struck in the head with the nightstick because he was beating someone for no reason. Why are you defending that?
  23. Apparently you didn't, otherwise you would have recognized that fact pattern as being that of the Bambino. You said it was baseball's jesus. So I was trying to think of someone who wasn't a renowned Ahole. My whole point was that baseball's "mythology", much like that of American history myth's, aren't always 100% truth. Ruth isn't demonized 1/100th as much as Cobb is, despite them both being tremendous douchebags. Part of that probably has something to do with the fact that Ruth never knifed a hotel employee who tried to stop him from beating an bellboy. Or jumped into the stands to beat a handicapped heckler.

  25. Everyone know's that Ruth was a terrible person, this isn't even an argument. It still doesn't make Cobb any better.
