  1. the difference between 3.5 WAR rizzo and 5 WAR rizzo is minimal considering we signed him to a below market deal so we could afford OH GOD DAMMIT
  2. I was thinking more what was said on the previous page, largely because it's something I've been worried about watching Rizzo last season. After his horrible April, in which he played hurt with a bad back and went on the DL/sat out. He hit .303/.393/.512 with a 139 wRC+, .380 wOBA, 24 Dongs, 11% BB and K rates with a sustainable .300 BABIP from May 1 through years end. He was pretty much his same self after a bad and injured month. that made me feel better last year but this year is all darkness so i will point out that declines do often take the form of slumps that prolong themselves longer and longer each year thank you for listening to my ted talk
  3. you want a bold prediction, pick which cubs player dies on the field this year
  4. http://www.trbimg.com/img-5c6480b7/turbine/chi-ct-cubs-workout004-ct0091021894-20190213/1150/1150x647 "ma'am can you excuse me? im trying to watch the ted bundy tapes thanks"
  5. I will believe jon lester is not a FIP-beater whenever he doesn't beat his FIP and not a moment sooner
  6. this is the most insanely privileged horsefeathers. ok guys sure we entered into a billion-dollar agreement that will help enrich an alt-right propaganda machine but they probably wont do propaganda on our channel so its cool right
  7. 3rd place
  8. pecota is big on framing right? i bet if we swapped out contreras for grandal we'd just to first
  9. i can't see any scenario where either of these leagues do anything other than give depth guys (and maybe the occasional kurt warner-esque story) a place to play in the offseason. i know the one example that gets hit on is the trevor lawrence deal, this obviously pro-ready QB that has to play for free for two years before he can get drafted. But in what universe would trevor lawrence give up two years of development at one of the best colleges in the nation just so he could go play in a league that might be more dangerous than college just to make a little bit of money? Isn't that a huge bet? The problem i think is that to get to the level where you can establish your league as a place to woo the trevor lawrences away from college programs, you need to get some trevor lawrences first. Just seems like an impossible scenario
  10. ummmm you forgot descalso
  11. what draft expert said lamar jackson should change to wr Bill Pollian (his stature as a draft expert is up for debate) https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/ex-nfl-gm-lamar-jackson-too-short-and-slight-should-switch-to-wr-for-2018-nfl-draft/ yeah but that whole story is making fun of notoriously out of the loop polian for the "short" and "slight" takes. what he said about jackson's lack of accuracy is true, but teams are willing to hope on physical tools at QB
  12. We'll see. I just think it's funny how fast the draft experts change their opinions. They do it in the same draft (remember how 6'3", 225lb Mitch Trubisky was a prototypical QB build while 6'3", 225lb LaMar Jackson was too sleight and should change to WR?) what draft expert said lamar jackson should change to wr
  13. Some people thought mayfield was too short (albeit he still went no. 1,) but he had a really good season. So now they think well, maybe height isn’t such a huge deal anymore
  14. He is ridiculously talented. Very intelligent QB, super fast, great arm strength. The problem is that he is too small for the NFL. I highly doubt he gets measured at the combine but I don’t think he’s even 5’10” and possibly under 190 pounds. He is going to get killed on an NFL field. Its just funny that the people who said Baker Mayfield at 6'0" was too short are all over Murray's jock Wait for it, it will dawn on him
  15. So ive never done heroin but #1 im pretty sure all heroin is injectable #2 "forehead heroin" doesnt exist any more than arm heroin does #3 I dunno, maybe ask a friend who is a drug dealer if you are expecting a friendly discount on drugs Look at this nerd who hasn’t spent two decades on nsbb like us cool dudes
  16. 50% more per year, and 300% more over the course of a decade is a huge difference. No one is trading for Heyward and his entire contract. but acting like there's a negligible difference between what he's owed, and what Harper will be owed is illogical. No it’s not. Not when the difference is the production between Heyward and Harper.
  17. theres that 4th dimensional chess i keep hearing about
  18. Also, at the very least, in a hypothetical Heyward trade Cubs pick up the 20mill deferred signing bonus, then he's down to 5/106 left on his contract. Harper will do much better than that or MLB should be shut down. that's a difference of like $8-10m AAV, if you are willing to give butt-ass jason heyward 20 mil a year you should be shot if you aren't willing to give harper 30 mil
  19. he was joking I think schwarber is a big thick rust belt boy who loves cops, doesn't take a lot of deduction to figure out who he didn't vote for because he's a millenial but would have voted for if he had registered to vote (its donnie trump)
  20. schwarber is definitely too self-aware to be seen with a maga hat on in public
  21. from a fan perspective i dont think anyone is too concerned with who benefits from the DH the most on a team-level as there are very few truly impactful DHs like, ever. It just makes the games more watchable because i hate watching pitchers horsefeathering hit
  22. that's what has cracked me up about the "lets just send heyward to the giants with alzolay!" or whatever talk. Why wouldn't they just sign bryce harper for *checks notes* the exact same amount of money
  23. being able to get happ and zobrist ABs (without having him in the field) seems like it would be good
  24. andreoli's projected OPS on BBREF is 0.017 lower than Jason Heyward's
  25. i keep pretending that im not excited about it but really i am there are enough things that could plausibly go right (bryant healthy, maybe javy takes another leap? schwarber could luck into a .280 avg and turn into a monster, darvish might be healthy and awesome, happ could bounceback and hit 30 bombs, contreras could be a stud again, addison russell could get hit by a car) that it makes the season worth following but also it could all go very wrong and in that case at least it will be fun to talk horsefeathers about the ricketts and turn on theo
