  1. 50% more per year, and 300% more over the course of a decade is a huge difference. No one is trading for Heyward and his entire contract. but acting like there's a negligible difference between what he's owed, and what Harper will be owed is illogical. No it’s not. Not when the difference is the production between Heyward and Harper.
  2. theres that 4th dimensional chess i keep hearing about
  3. Also, at the very least, in a hypothetical Heyward trade Cubs pick up the 20mill deferred signing bonus, then he's down to 5/106 left on his contract. Harper will do much better than that or MLB should be shut down. that's a difference of like $8-10m AAV, if you are willing to give butt-ass jason heyward 20 mil a year you should be shot if you aren't willing to give harper 30 mil
  4. he was joking I think schwarber is a big thick rust belt boy who loves cops, doesn't take a lot of deduction to figure out who he didn't vote for because he's a millenial but would have voted for if he had registered to vote (its donnie trump)
  5. schwarber is definitely too self-aware to be seen with a maga hat on in public
  6. from a fan perspective i dont think anyone is too concerned with who benefits from the DH the most on a team-level as there are very few truly impactful DHs like, ever. It just makes the games more watchable because i hate watching pitchers horsefeathering hit
  7. that's what has cracked me up about the "lets just send heyward to the giants with alzolay!" or whatever talk. Why wouldn't they just sign bryce harper for *checks notes* the exact same amount of money
  8. being able to get happ and zobrist ABs (without having him in the field) seems like it would be good
  9. andreoli's projected OPS on BBREF is 0.017 lower than Jason Heyward's
  10. i keep pretending that im not excited about it but really i am there are enough things that could plausibly go right (bryant healthy, maybe javy takes another leap? schwarber could luck into a .280 avg and turn into a monster, darvish might be healthy and awesome, happ could bounceback and hit 30 bombs, contreras could be a stud again, addison russell could get hit by a car) that it makes the season worth following but also it could all go very wrong and in that case at least it will be fun to talk horsefeathers about the ricketts and turn on theo
  11. how can you be this wrong all the time
  12. holy horsefeathers you're right
  13. [tweet]https://twitter.com/sung_minkim/status/1091711084816257024[/tweet]
  14. horsefeathers it i just put him on text alert so i can learn when he signs with the seattle mariners or whatever is gonna happen
  15. If the cardinals sign Bryce Harper I’m telling you right now I will only watch 2/3 of the cubs games this year AT MINIMUM
  16. jesus christ
  17. i still dont understand why the braves aren't in on harper or machado (or hell both) their payroll is like $110m, freeman is locked up, literally everyone else is cheap. why not pair the acuna/albies (not convinced he's good but still) with two mid 20s super talents? They could sign both guys and still have a manageable payroll. They have a new stadium on the way, it makes too much sense. what am i missing
  18. Judging by online reactions it appears fans are quite content with the spending money is stupid idea. These same goofs would definitely rage at Theo for not sealing the deal if we were actively pursuing case in point
  19. he's selling essential oils
  20. Lmao go read his chat today and count how many times he answered an honest question with some rude [expletive] answer (or twitter slang a 40 year old single dad prospect expert) shouldn’t be using. I know you have to be somewhere on the spectrum to receive money to talk about baseball prospects but god this guy sucks
  21. We have the same amount of players as them projected for 3+ WAR (KB, Rizzo, Javy And Schwarbs vs Goldschmidt, Dejong, Carpenter and Ozuna) more than them over 4 (Rizzo And KB vs Goldschmidt) and the only one at 5+ in KB. We also project for more offensive WAR 28.1 vs 25.8 and their entire rotation is full of question marks. Martinez, Wacha and Reyes off injuries (all 3 have been hurt every year the last few years as well), Wainwright’s corpse, Flaherty (who I think is good) and Mikolas who are a bit unproven. Idk, they have more question marks than us in the rotation. Probably more upside but more downside and volatility. Imo. Carpenter at 3B could be a disaster as well, he can’t really throw and Ozuna is coming off a shoulder surgery and allegedly is behind for swinging and throwing already. quit trying to make me feel better
  22. what do you disagree with in that assessment
  23. I've fallen into my yearly early season trap of discounting the brewers, but the cardinals kinda freak me out. Their offense is stacked and I think fangraphs is unnecessarily low on their pitching. Until we sign Harper or machado and/or see a healthy bryant in spring training, the cardinals may be the nl central faves
  24. crazy that it was like 4 months ago we all assumed that was just a foregone conclusion
  25. All of this is true. It's also true that Bryant has reached that level in every season in which he was "fully" healthy and also was on pace to go well past 6 WAR last year before the injury. It's possible that the injury will limit the finish on his swing going forward and that his results dip as a result. But I'll take bets on the gap between his 2018 and 2019 more than offsetting the dip in Javy's, assuming KB and Javy each play in 145+ games. Any of you doom bonering people want to wager? i actually have more faith in javy not dipping *that* much than i do in Bryant getting back to 2016-17 levels of production right now
