    Man, given what we know about this FO and the owners now, I'm pretty it was actually a selling point for them. i went back through a lot of this thread to see how hard i defended chapman (too much) and what the opinion of the FO/ownership was (too high) but i dunked on david ross hater so in the end it all worked out

    I know writers don’t get to pick their own headlines, but a writer should be immediately fired and blacklisted for something like this its a defensible position isnt it? Post-2017 he was two years removed from a 9-war MVP season (as a 22 year old!) and was fresh off a 1.000 OPS season where he was only held back by injury. Post 2019 he was fresh off a downish season where his defense slipped and he was in a market that didn't appear to have a great fit for him. You can argue that a player's worth is different than "what someone will pay for him," but in this context his "worth" is dictated by the market and it's not necessarily wrong that you could have probably held out and gotten him for less. Maybe.

    look if for some reason we are stupid enough to eschew all the cool popular media that exists today in lieu of watching men hit baseballs with a stick, we should be forced to watch fat managers tumble around the field making lineup changes.
