  1. You saw the one that was a called strike right? And sure big leaguers don't swing at them. Right. he has 11 walks in as many innings in the big leagues. His WHIP is 2.25. You don't throw a slider for strikes, you throw it in the dirt when you already have 2 strikes on a hitter or are at least in a pitcher's count. Since he can't command any other pitch, when he faces a big league hitter he rarely gets in a pitcher's count and actual major leaguers know they can just spit on anything that looks like a slider. anyone with a good slider is going to have a nice highlight reel given enough time, but you gotta be able to command another pitcher for it to be of use.
  2. looks real good against AA hitters, but major leaguers just don't swing at them
  3. almora had a .200 ops in the second half but he added a leg kick this spring so he totally deserves a roster spot
  4. i wouldnt do it on OOTP but this is the real world where our biggest offseason waves were made by signing a ... 38 year old dude who rick ankieled himself out of the minors 16 years ago so probably not gonna dunk on the cardinals in this case, thank you
  5. remember when people wanted to trade schwarbs for him
  6. I feel like this has happened before, like within the last 5 or 6 years. It's more like a week before, right? yesterday was the 20th and 12 days before the Cubs first game. dont the cubs play in 7 days?
  7. the whole reason it is happening is because his control is being manipulated by service time issues. alas
  8. Does "not happy" mean they're pissed he's still around, or pissed that he's not getting even more support? The first one. Think Mrs Bryant and Melisa Reidy were/are very close. it's called "sister wives"
  9. "does she have boobs? heh, you could say that  "
  10. kyle being back on the cubs suck bandwagon makes it so clear to me that they're going to be good again
  11. 81-80 (rainout that won't be made up)
  12. white sox probably heard from FAs this offseason that the organization wasnt player friendly enough
  13. wasnt kimbrel essentially uplayable at the end of last year? Not that about 30 percent of our bullpen is currently in the same situation
  14. I still don’t understand what shifts have to do with pace of play
  15. Hey man, nice tweet
  16. Bryant should lead off vs lhp
  17. Why is an athletic’s reporter talking about our roster moves
  18. True, but there are several in the league, and calling that play a "14/10" is ridiculously hyperbolic that shot is extremely hard to make and it's ... freakin twitter. calm down derwood damn, when you see dog rates give some pup a 11/10 do you criticize that too
  19. the arrows should all be pointing down
  20. but at least he was also the slowest human being in existence as well
  21. i dont think "struggles" is a strong enough word to describe his second half .300 ops
  22. Man, given what we know about this FO and the owners now, I'm pretty it was actually a selling point for them. the only reason it took so long to finalize was joe was worried that aroldis was a muslim name
  23. Man, given what we know about this FO and the owners now, I'm pretty it was actually a selling point for them. Yeah it’s funny, back then I had this mistaken belief that the Cubs FO wouldn’t never acquire a player with baggage like that but now it seems like an annual tradition. a true monkeys paw scenario wow i wish the cubs would stop it with the homophobes and domestic abusers *offseason highlighted by daniel descalso*
  24. Man, given what we know about this FO and the owners now, I'm pretty it was actually a selling point for them. i went back through a lot of this thread to see how hard i defended chapman (too much) and what the opinion of the FO/ownership was (too high) but i dunked on david ross hater so in the end it all worked out
