  1. we're going to win 100 games again [tweet] [/tweet] i knew my moronic ass would turn as soon as i saw one video of KB swinging a bat and here we are nl central favorites baby
  2. we're going to win 100 games again
  3. hey let us know what the offer is before he signs it lol ok "wow this horsefeathers is GENIUS, look out stearns there's a new chess player in town"
  4. Off topic, but 'dolt' is such an underrated insult. there was an old old old old old school copy editor i used to work with who would read headlines out loud to himself. every time he would see a headline he didn't like he would read it out loud and add "you dolts." It was great
  5. god listening to buster olney's podcast now and they're doing it again "is this going to make the padres contenders (this year)? Nope! I dont get it!" there are literally 9 other years on this contract you dolts
  6. kind of weird seeing all the "why are the padres doing this they're not in their window yet" takes. like ... how do you expect to get in a window guys
  7. im taking the over on that happ/almora/schwarber OF war
  8. The answer is always the one elite guy when these questions come up Even if the non-elite guys are on shorter deals? Harper has averaged around 5 fWAR over the past 3 seasons Keuchel/Kimbrel/Marwin have combined to average around 7.5 fWAR over the past 3 season. And you wouldn't have any on the hook for a 10 year commitment. what an oft-injured LHP post-30, a closer, and a utility guy have done on average over the past 3 years is not really that relevant in terms of what you can expect going forward and even if you think harper is *just* a 5 war guy every season going forward, that means to hit the 7.5 war mark all you need to find 1.25 WAR out of a couple league minimum guys in the pen and rotation. so you'd much rather have harper, who has a 5-9 war range and then keep fishing to find some cheap young guys than a trio of dudes who *might at best* add up to 7.5 war
  9. what kind of question is this lol
  10. i hate him more than any other player living or dead, even racist murderer ty cobb
  11. i have gone back and forth 20 times in the last 12 months on whether i think machado is great or not and then one day i realized that it didn't matter. the only thing that matters is i for sure did not want to be on the hook for $300 million for him (but like the piece of trash i am i would have talked myself into it if we signed him)
  12. padres are gonna cycle out their current shitty uniforms after this season and go brown again in 2020, so not only will the team be relevant but they will look good too
  13. totally did not realize that ken williams was still the white sox gm. how is that possible
  14. tatis, urias, mejia, paddack will all likely be up this year, followed by Gore next year if he's healthy all 2018. This was a very smart move by the padres
  15. im pissed at myself but im excited for this god damn season like an idiot
  16. He’s ours
  17. the difference between 3.5 WAR rizzo and 5 WAR rizzo is minimal considering we signed him to a below market deal so we could afford OH GOD DAMMIT
  18. I was thinking more what was said on the previous page, largely because it's something I've been worried about watching Rizzo last season. After his horrible April, in which he played hurt with a bad back and went on the DL/sat out. He hit .303/.393/.512 with a 139 wRC+, .380 wOBA, 24 Dongs, 11% BB and K rates with a sustainable .300 BABIP from May 1 through years end. He was pretty much his same self after a bad and injured month. that made me feel better last year but this year is all darkness so i will point out that declines do often take the form of slumps that prolong themselves longer and longer each year thank you for listening to my ted talk
  19. you want a bold prediction, pick which cubs player dies on the field this year
  20. http://www.trbimg.com/img-5c6480b7/turbine/chi-ct-cubs-workout004-ct0091021894-20190213/1150/1150x647 "ma'am can you excuse me? im trying to watch the ted bundy tapes thanks"
  21. I will believe jon lester is not a FIP-beater whenever he doesn't beat his FIP and not a moment sooner
  22. this is the most insanely privileged horsefeathers. ok guys sure we entered into a billion-dollar agreement that will help enrich an alt-right propaganda machine but they probably wont do propaganda on our channel so its cool right
  23. 3rd place
  24. pecota is big on framing right? i bet if we swapped out contreras for grandal we'd just to first
  25. i can't see any scenario where either of these leagues do anything other than give depth guys (and maybe the occasional kurt warner-esque story) a place to play in the offseason. i know the one example that gets hit on is the trevor lawrence deal, this obviously pro-ready QB that has to play for free for two years before he can get drafted. But in what universe would trevor lawrence give up two years of development at one of the best colleges in the nation just so he could go play in a league that might be more dangerous than college just to make a little bit of money? Isn't that a huge bet? The problem i think is that to get to the level where you can establish your league as a place to woo the trevor lawrences away from college programs, you need to get some trevor lawrences first. Just seems like an impossible scenario
