Probably should take a break on what amounts to Pedro Martinez tweeting about a rumor coming from the DR. Speculation and rumor always goes out of control after a high-profile death – it could be as simple a thing as he lost his ring in the crash and someone going "he was robbed!" and it snowballing from there. It's the DR so anything is possible.

whats wrong with the falcons (besides their horsefeathers uniforms) I dislike them for the same reason so many on this board hate the Packers. I will be pulling for them though. Usually whenever an NFC South team wins the NFC their next year is horrible. oh yeah duh

in more "mike trout is insane" news Vladimir Guerrero (first year on the ballot) missed out on the HoF by 15 votes. If Trout is healthy next year, he should surpass Vlad's lifetime fWAR sometime in August. -

Dude it's hard to even go down to the local level and find a preps writer who doesn't take himself more seriously than journalists in DC. It's unbearable.

The amount of hemming and hawing over the hall of fame is so tiring, but I guess I'm just at the point where im not really looking over a WAR spreadsheet to see who should get into the hall. If you were near the very best at your position for a long time and someone wants to put you in the hall, more power to you. Hoffman was worth about the same amount of fwar as Brad Penny so its hard to argue against keeping him out of the hall, but it doesnt hurt my feelings if he gets in and david wright, who had twice as much fwar, doesnt.

Look, he's a cool-ass dude, he gave the president a pair of swaggy Jordans, he hit a leadoff homer in Game 7 of the World Series, and he still calls the Cubs his family. I'm just putting this into words before he inevitably has a few good games against us while Heyward struggles and we all start to get pissed off.

So it's ok for him to be away from his mother-in-law to spend a couple days in Chicago for the Convention but not to visit the White House? Gordon Wittenmyer said he left the convention early, so I don't think Jake was full of horsefeathers for his reason not to go to the White House leaving the convention early is something every reasonable adult should attempt to do. Missing a meeting with the President is not.
