  1. Chapman went to the DL so he is replaced by Salas. Lind went to the DL, so he is replaced by Brantley. Sands was playing for Lind (who was day-to-day), so I benched Sands and inserted Brantley. I hope this move is OK.

    Week 6

Lind has been day-to-day for several days, so I swaped him with Sands who was on my bench.
  3. Hundley went on the DL, so I picked up Molina.
  4. Yes, in our league the two most effective uses of the bench are 1) A bullpen that allows you to have rotate in starting pitchers. 2) A place to store rookies and/or day-to-day starters who are not playing well enough to start, but you do not want to expose to the waiver wire.
  5. I am surprised to see that Barney is not getting more praise here. But I guess that I am biased. Darwin is from Portland, Or., which is where I live. His success with the Cubs and being a leader on two National Championship teams (Oregon State) means that the local paper is giving him a lot of coverage. I hope he continues to surprise people. From everything I have seen, he seems to be a class act.
  6. This sucks [-X
  7. According to CBS sports; News: Cubs SS Darwin Barney has been named the National League Rookie of the Month for the April. Barney hit .326 (29-for-89) during the month with one home run and 14 RBI, which ranked second among Major League rookies. He also belted four doubles, two triples, 15 runs scored and one stolen base to go along with a .351 on-base percentage and a .449 slugging percentage. Analysis: Barney continues to rake for the Cubs and was rewarded on Monday for his fast start to the season. The one knock on him is his lack of power, although he has more than made up for that in other areas at the plate. Fantasy owners in deeper mixed leagues might want to think about taking a look at Barney while he is swinging the bat so well. If this posted elsewhere...sorry
  8. It looks like I am about to win this week too. After two rather dismal weeks, my team is showing signs of coming to life.
  9. After the high score of week one, my team has decided to take a vacation. No pitching, no hitting period. I hope this is just a phase. I do not want a repeat of last year. :banghead:
  10. Quakers

    Week 2

Mauer is now on the 15 day DL. So, the Quakers do the following Mauer to DL Furcal is dropped so that Mauer has room on the DL Avila is inserted as starting catcher for the benefit of our newbies, it is considered an appropriate courtesy if you post any move asap on this site. That way the commish (and your opponent) can easily assess the legality of your move.
  11. Quakers

    Week 2

Furcal broke his thumb, so I put him on the DL and picked up Angel Sanchez.
  12. Quakers

    Week 2

I am up against NSBB this week. Always a tough match.
  13. IMO your team is not that bad. But I had a really good week. I hope Maybin is finally hitting his stride and my Reds connection of Votto, Stubbs, and Phillips is for real. But on the other hand, maybe you have a good eye for up and coming prospects. You do have Castro.

    Week 2

It should be the tradition, that the previous week's lead scorer should start the next week's thread :) I hope my luck continues. Remember, this week you have only 7 starts!
  15. As they said, just put the gut on the bench and ignore the illegal line-up message. ET - I am sorry if my message sounded too harsh and it is true that our game was out of reach. But I did not see a notice on Lackey the day he pitched and then I saw Niemann pitching for your 10th start. I sincerely hope this was a big to do over nothing and look forward to thrashing your team in the future
  16. Um...er...I would like to have Jackson's 35 point start count instead of Dempster's 11 point start. I mean after Dempster's first poor outing I really meant to dump him in favor of Jackson, but...um ...mechanical mistake. It shouldn't matter that I am bringing this issue up several days after Dempster's start. ... ET needs to have the 24.5 points from Garcia's last start taken away. My apologies if I come across sounding harsh, but this is not right. Most likely ET made an honest mistake. But I made/did not make line-up decisions based upon ET being out of starts. He can't just start a pitcher a few days later and say accept the 24.5 points from Garcia and subtract the -10 point performance a couple of days ago from Lackey. He needs to get used to checking his line-up early each day and make sure he has the right starters starting. EDIT: According to live scoring, ET has Niemann starting today for his 10th start.
  17. Are you suggesting that you want to drop Lackey's start and have Garcia go today? Probably an honest mistake, but none-the-less...we all make them.
  18. Remember, you can rotate starters in and out all that you want, but you cannot exceed 8 starts this week and 7 the other weeks.
  19. What's up
  20. The commish and those with commish powers have the ability to make roster changes and adds/drops for teams, but I'm not just going to arbitrarily do that without the leagues approval to do so. I'd rather see Chuck fix his roster. I think Chuck mentioned traveling during the draft. He may not be able to check in every day. The fact that he still has Longoria in his lineup two or three days after he was placed on the Rays' DL makes me think Chuck hasn't checked in recently. If you do think it's appropriate for you to swap Longoria and Holliday you have my OK. I would agree with all of the above.
  21. The only fair thing I can think of is to not allow any points earned by the added player until the illegal roster has been fixed. Thoughts? I'm not sure if there's a better solution than that. I think Chuck jumped the gun and assumed he'd be placed on the DL when in fact he has not. On the flip side, he still has Longoria, who is on the major league DL, in his lineup. Well that kind of changes things a bit. I think if he just corrects his roster with placing Longoria on the DL, Holliday on the bench and picking up a 3b he'd technically be okay. It would have been legal for him to bench Holliday since he is hurt. That also allows him to add a player provided he stays legal, which moving Longoria to the DL would have allowed. Then when he adds a 3b, he'll have to figure out who he wants to drop. Does the commish have the ability to put Longoria on the DL, Holliday on the bench, and Chuck will lose points every day he does not have a replacement? If we are of the opinion that this is a legitimate goof, then that's what should be done. But at some point players who are illegally placed on the DL should be removed from the team and made a free agent. Then whoever wants to claim them on waivers can do so.
  22. Funny, I have a new found appreciation for him :)
  23. I have 10 starting pitchers! (of course, 4 are on the mlb dl) So, what are you saying...you want more starters???? :-k
  24. My roster is legal. I have 8 starters. I am not actively trading at the moment (I want to see how my players start the year first in order to assess needs), but I may be willing to trade a starter in order to upgrade elsewhere.
