    draft order

  2. I agree. We need the word from on high. Is Tim around? Or, who is acting as commish in Tim's place?
  3. Kevin, pm me with the email address you want to use. And what you want for your first round pick. :) Oh geeez #-o
  4. Whoa, this has turned ito quite a discussion with several good ideas. I just wanted to point out that our current rules could lead to issues. Most of what has been suggested is OK by me, but keep it simple. Our commish doesn't want to have to be checking line-ups on a regular basis. options 1) Keep rule as it was last year. If you pick him in the major league draft, he needs to be with the team on opening day or you lose him. Problem - may result in a wasted pick as Darvish and/or Cepedes gets a quick tune-up in the minors at season's start. Doubtful. 2) Anyone eligible for the minors has to be chosen in the prospect draft. Problem - Some players are obviously not prospects anymore. 3) We agree that there are two? (Cepedes and Darvish) who qualify for the major league draft and anyone else who could be placed in the minors has to be chosen in the prospect draft. Problem - Just two or are there more? 4) Anyone chosen in the major league draft cannot be placed in the minors all year. Problem - Players are injured and spend time in the minors.
  5. or we could handle this differently this year and state that anyone who could techniquely be placed in our minors at the start of the season, has to be selected in the prospect draft. Does ET (or whatever Truffleshuffle's new name is) has the first pich in the prospect draft? Otherwise he may be pissed. I can live with either way. I just want clarity and concensus before we start drafting.
  6. I figured my post would bring joy and happiness to one lucky Roadkill owner. ;) Someone may take a chance on drafting Cepedes in the minor league draft. Then if he doesn't start in the majors, the person who picked him in the minor league draft would get him. If no one picked him in the minor league draft, then he would be a waiver wire pick up. I believe the first round would be after the first week of the season. Someone correct me if I am wrong on any of the above.
  7. Just so you know, anyone selected in the major league portion of our draft has to break with the team out of spring training. So if someone drafts Yu Darvish, Yoenis Cespedes, in our major league draft, then he/she runs the risk of losing him if he is sent to the minors at the start of the season. I assume then, these players would go first to the team that selected them in our minor league draft, and then be subject to normal free agent pick up rules. I assume the order of FA pick-ups was set at the end of last season? I notice that Yoenis is not listed on Roadkill yet. The rule has been in the past that you can draft someone not listed on Roadkill. You tell the commish who can creat a "fake" player. But remember to add/drop when the real player becomes available on Roadkill. Any other rules I should tell the newbie, besdies the one that states that all highly qualified prospects should go to the Quakers?
  8. I really hope the Cubs own it sometime in the next 2-3 years. Their mlb record should be low enough to guarantee high draft picks for awhile.
  9. True. The commish will certify that alll line-ups are legit and then trading can commence.
  10. If you are answering my post, no that's not what I'm suggesting. Replacements for hurt players only, whether through the bench, trade or free agent pick up. Not daily changes. We already have if a player is officially on the mlb DL list than you can pick up a FA to replace him. BTW - For the newbie - A player has to be on the MLB DL, to be placed on a Roadkill DL. What we are arguing is that a player with a hurt indicator could also be replaced by a FA. Of course you would want to put the hurt player on your bench. You can't put him on the DL. Right now, you would have to replace the position player/relief pitcher with someone from your bench. At least until the end of the week. My first thought is that allowing a player to pick up a FA would lessen the importance of your bench. It also could make it difficult for the commish to determine whether or not daily substitutions are being done.
  11. Do I understand this rule correctly. We are allowed to pick up a FA starting pitcher, but we cannot pick up a FA relief pitcher or batter unless a player goes on the DL. A player who has that little medical sign by his name (usually day-to-day) can be benched, but he has to be replaced by someone who started the week on your bench. correct????
  12. Haha. You're right. However, I did get ahold of Juan through Facebook. :) Yay...hopefully Juan is on board.
  13. The only discussion that I remember was something about the finals.
  14. Extended draft is the way to go. We just need to commit to checking the progress of the draft regularly while it is in progress.
  15. Sounds like you might be taking ET's path this year. See what prospects, draft picks, and exempt players you can get this year and hope for a better future. Unfortunately since you are joining us late, most of us have set our rosters already. Welcome to Roadkill BTW. Helpful hint: avoid trading with Tim and getting into long arguments with Adam:)
  16. Yeah...D-Block returns:)
  17. I am worried too. Tim...Do you need help?
  18. Have we begun to search for replacements yet?
  19. When is it? I assume that we are not going to have a draft day, but do it via NSBB and/or the message board at Roadkill again?
  20. I do not think we have started this thread yet this year. I still have a few adjustments, but C - Mauer = 188.5 1b - Votto = 579.8 2b - Cano = 558 ss - Gordon = exempt OF - Pence = 496 OF - McCutchen = exempt SP - Romero = exempt SP - Hudson = exempt SP - ? = exempt SP - ? = exempt Points = 1822.3 The last two starters will be picked from Chapman, Niese, Nicasio, and DeLaRosa who are all exempt.
  21. The check is in the mail.
  22. How much per check? $10 and risk being short? or $15 and have a little left over for a league trophy or something? $10 is fine. btw - I've had a trade offer out to you for around 2 months now! :) OK, but it should not end up being that the commish is not only doing the work, but paying the cost as well.
  23. right, but is there an official rule? tsuyoshi nishioka was drafted in the prospect draft last year and he wasn't expected to see any time in the minors. this was also written in the 2010 prospect draft thread: so it sounds to me like in the past, any player who was minor league eligible and owned by a major league organization could be drafted by a major league team. i think it should probably stay that way, and new international signees should be minor league draft eligible only, because how do you differentiate between someone like cespedes and strasburg? obviously strasburg would have gone in the major league portion of the draft if someone were allowed to take him. and that was the intent of separating the drafts. the rule was any one taken in the major league draft had to start the season on a major league roster (or DL) or be forfeit. So you can take a chance. This is my memory as well.

  25. I liked what I saw of Rosario last year. Admittedly it was one start for each, but I liked him better than Wells.
