  1. No, we're not. You're right we're very good. We should all be thanking god Cleveland came to town last week or we would be really awful. Eh, I just think we're an average team right now. We're not "awful", though. Thing is, average doesn't get you into the playoffs either, so what's the difference I guess.
  2. Foxy almost made another great play there...eh, still a decent effort. Gotta forget about it and get Granderson here, period.
  3. Starting to wonder that myself! At least at 3B. He's looked pretty comfortable there.
  4. I think that as well at some points. He seems to go from overpowering to serving up meatballs in a blink of the eye. Doesn't make sense.
  5. Man, when Harden gives up a HR, it's almost always a no-doubter. Are they sitting on his pitches or something?
  6. I'd like to see Fukudome leading off, and Soriano dropped really far down in the lineup. Like sixth.
  7. Really enjoying the style of the lineup. Hopefully the change of pace can keep the offense hot against a very good Vasquez tonight. Let's do it!
  8. What the hell is a webio?

  10. Through his 50 AB's in June, Soriano's sporting a 590 OPS. 374 in the last week.
  11. This is my "I'm shocked" face. Sosa was still freakin' awesome. His AB's were one of the few reasons to even watch the Cubs for a while there. I can't just forget all the positive feelings he gave me as a fan, even if he did make the (common at the time) mistake of steroid abuse. He still has a great place in my memory.
  12. If you remember back, it was Lou that gave people like Theriot and Soto a chance to earn a lot of playing time as young players. The Cubs won a lot of games due to those type of decisions. This year, though, Lou seems incredibly passive as to what's going on on the field, and doesn't seem quite ready to make radical moves yet. I'd love to see things like Soriano at 2B, Fox/Hoffpauir playing regularly, etc., but I don't think it's in our near future.
  13. I miss DeRosa. He's killing the baseball right now. .817 OPS overall and 1.2 in the last 7 days. More importantly, he's posting a 935 OPS with runners on base, which is usually when this team goes limp offensively.
  14. I think a lot of it starts with Soriano, honestly.
  15. interesting that you didn't pop in to say this after the last two cub games. No kidding. Obviously no losses are enjoyable, but nothing especially angered me about tonight. Go out and get 'em tomorrow and take the series.
  16. I like how you leave out the most obvious choice, which is that the Pirates FO are poor at their jobs and don't know how to correctly evaluate talent The fact that you're here posting on a messageboard rather than working in a MLB FO just boggles the mind, since obviously you're much better at evaluating talent, and would do a better job than the current Pirates GM. That's a ridiculous comment. You are honestly going to debate that there aren't bonehead GM's in baseball? And you know what, to take it a step further, you should just stop posting on this forum, since if you keep posting that would mean you know more about the Cubs than most people by your logic. If you disagree with Dex, say why in a respectful and detailed manner. I mean that's what any poster worthy of respect should do right?
  17. Hey guys, did you know Uncle Buck will be on at 8/7 Central?
  18. It's frustrating when your bullpen excels, and you can't score one run. It's frustrating when you score a lot of runs, and your bullpen can't hold a lead late. Why can't we have all our pistons firing?
