  1. Apparently he's in bed w/ Selig and is Selig's preference to buy the team. Here's the link: http://money.cnn.com/2007/06/25/magazines/fortune/cubs.fortune/
  2. "Son, wins and losses are how you judge a pitcher. I mean, Howry battled and got his team in position to win the game. That's what a team needs. And by the way, I'm the greatest 2nd baseman of all-time" - Joe Morgan That's a bit more realistic!
  3. Vance, are you going to wear a NSBB Cubs shirt in the booth if you win?
  4. I've thought about it. Haven't got around to it yet.
  5. Dare I ask what song?
  6. 7. I think he sits around all day smoking pot with Sean Marshall. Get your facts straight, mister. They eat brownies. GWAR, DUDE!!!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA!
  8. WHAT? Did I miss something, or did you mean someone other then Carlos Zambrano?
  9. I agree! And I hope it's his last game!
  10. Pie's not going down. Pagan would be sent down before Pie, IMHO.
  11. I would be suprised if Fontenot doesn't start at 2B and I'd be even more suprised if Jones and Fontenot are traded together.
  12. I think "Gone Goose" is a racially charged statement and Hawk should be fired immediately! [/sarcasm]
  13. Don't these guys have producers in the ear piece telling them what the heck is going on? Terrible production of the play! No replay until really late and it started with the tag on Pagan. Really bad!!!!
  14. Sounds like Sean's first start will be on Sunday. Like today, Sunday? If so, I guess I'll see his 2nd start in Iowa!
  15. Arroyo with a QS tonight! I hope that's a sign of things to come. Overall, a solid week for me pitching wise this week!
  16. Assuming I'm wrong on the Nomar transaction, what about this one that I also mentioned. There was nothing wrong with Huff. If you say this one is okay as well, then apparently we are allowed to make daily transactions. i agree...that move is not allowed. Agreed
  17. I disagree. I've always been under the impression a guy had to go on the DL before you could replace him with someone not on your roster. well, i'm 99% sure that's not the case. You can move a guy out of your line-up if he's injured and not playing. You just can't place him on the DL without him actually being on the DL. You can also find examples of these moves being announced in the Weekly threads almost every week. It's a normal transaction in the league.
  18. SWEEP!!!! Let's keep it going into the next few series and get back in this thing!!!!!
  19. Why would the Rangers agree to a Jacques for Gagne deal? I'm sure it wouldn't be a straight up deal.
  20. Offensively, yes, if they could stay healthy but what "prospects" are we talking about trading for Thome, and who backs up 1b since he's a good bet to get injured at some point. I'd rather do Zambrano for ARod straight up (assuming ARod agrees not to opt out), and then try to maybe pick up a couple pitching prospects by dealing some combination of Izturis/Theriot/Fontenot/DeRosa. The rotation next season would still be respectable (Hill, Marshall, Marquis, Lilly, Gallagher/Guzman), but the offense would be a force to be reckoned with, especially if Murton learns to play RF or Fontenot continues to hit at 2nd allowing DeRosa to move to RF. Moving Z or another of the expensive guys is the only way I think the Cubs could take on a salary the level of ARod. I'm not necessarily condoning a move like this. I'm just saying the only possibility of DLee being moved is in a situation where the Cubs could pick up someone like MRam, or ARod and then spin a deal for a stopgap 1B like Thome. It would be tough to justify moving DLee if it wasn't for an elite player. I agree w/ your setiments about Z for ARod. I'd prefer the Cubs just re-sign him, but if they decide they can't I'm all for trading him for ARod. If ARod waives his right to opt out of his deal.
  21. I've heard rumblings about the White Sox unloading salary. What about Thome? If the Cubs were to trade prospects for Thome and then trade DLee + Guzman to NYY for ARod, or to Boston for Manny........... would this be a better Cub team? Just a thought.
  22. haha, no, but the actual story is just as funny. Z was yelling at him for making a bone headed play that scored 1 run, and Barrett pointed to the scoreboard and said "What about the other 4 runs. How many strikeouts do you have today?" That's good. I just also find it funny about that guy in the background (Who the hell is he anyways?) was just sitting there and blowing his bubble gum the whole scene. Kinda like Scruffy the Janitor from Futurama. Laying back, being lazy and probably thinking "I'm on break," where there's a heated exchange going on in front of him. I believe that's Sean Marshall.
  23. Your opponent can do this. It maybe thought of differently if your opponent had another SS on his roster that could be put in the line-up but that doesn't seem to be the case.
