  1. Just win series. If the Cubs win the majority of three game sets the rest of the way they'll be in good shape. They do have to play better at Wrigley Field, though.
  2. It could be the Yankees who like to use their starters on throw days as relievers! LOL!
  3. This is starting to become a pet peeve of mine. By all means rip Marlins "fans" to shreds for not supporting a team that's winning a world series, rip Braves fans to shreds for not selling out playoff games, but really, what the hell do you want out of Pirates and Royals supporters? Continue giving the worst owners in baseball their money despite not even putting up an attempt to go .500? It sucks for Pirates and Royals fans, they've shown in the past to be great fans, but you can only be dumped on so many times before you say enough. Agreed. I'd have a hard time actively rooting for and supporting a team that had no chance of winning every year. Even the Cubs make the playoffs once a while. The Royals and Pirates are small market teams with lousy management, not exactly a formula for success. To the Royals credit they have some great young talent and have Dayton Moore in the organization now. I think they're at least trying to put a decent team on the field in the next few years.
  4. I'm reposting this until someone acknowledges my amazing skills. You have amazing skills. There. Happy? Now make the Cubs win a World Series. http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h230/cbbryan1/smart_cookie_award.jpg
  5. The 2 today weren't that borderline. The first K looking was right down the middle. The second one wasn't quite as good a pitch, but I didn't think it was that bad of a call.
  6. I'm 3 out! WOO HOO!!!!
  7. I can record it on DVD for you, but not VHS!
  8. I've seen plenty of posts where someone announces that someone is available. This is the first time I noticed an actual player auction. If everyone's cool with public auctions, I'll keep quiet. no need to keep quiet - I think we do better with new opinions and a few heated debates. Thanks for the vote of confidence. Yeah, I'm opinionated. Hell, I poop opinions. And I rarely back out of a debate, even if it means taking the opposite side of my own beliefs. :D I like to stir things up. And I better get my way or there will be hell to pay. :P Damn, sounds like my wife.
  9. A-Rod Vlad Miguel Cabrera Prince Fielder Johan Santana
  10. I may be out of the loop here, so forgive me if I'm offending anyone, but is Vance not playing any longer? No, Juan made a change. I've had the same problem w/ trade requests with that team as well. Who has the Severe Tooterstorms? Haven't heard back anything from him either.
  11. I'm just happy when someone responds to a trade. Even if it's rejected! LOL!
  12. Wasnt he always kind of outspoken with the test me stuff and what not. He also was a TE at Auburn so he was big when he came into baseball and hasnt really gotten any bigger. I am not naive and if it came out next week he was a user I wouldnt be shocked. I just dont think there is any evidence at all that points a finger at him. First Ballot HOFer. This is what annoys me about the steriod issues. Getting bigger doesn't mean a guy has or hasn't used steriods. I'm not saying that I think Big Hurt doesn't deserve to be in the HOF, in fact I believe he does deserve to be in. I'll be interested to hear what networks like ESPN have to say about guys like Thomas, Griffey Jr., ARod, etc. that all played in the "steriod era" and are HOFers in my mind. If you don't vote guys based on suspicion, or because they're guilty by association then none of these guys get in. The whole situation intrigues me, to be honest. Thomas, Arod and Griffey go in on the first ballot. Bonds (Game of Shadows), McGwire (Congressional testimony) and Sammy (skeptical media, Interpreter at hearing, corked bat and size change) will have to wait a while. I'm not saying that it's fair or that I agree with it but IMO that's how it will fallout. If there is the slightest suspicion, the voters will hold that against the player - see McGwire. Again, I agree. In Sammy's defense, size proves nothing in and of it self. I'll try to find the book, I forgot the name of it, but it talks about corked bats and has scientific evidence that a corked bat actually diminishes the distance a ball is hit. I hope Sammy does well. Produces in a "steriod testing era" and gets 660. I don't know that it will matter, but I think he deserves to be in. McGwire has been named by teammates as being a user. Bonds is connected to BALCO and his Grand Jury testimony that was leaked seem to solidify the fact that he used steriods.

If you don't vote guys based on suspicion, or because they're guilty by association then none of these guys get in. The whole situation intrigues me, to be honest. I always found it funny that everybody assumed Frank had to be clean because he was a big college football player, as if big college football players never take steroids. Well, again, I don't know if Frank took enhancement drugs, or not. My point isn't that he should be held out. I just look at the situation and wonder how guys justify there position. Another example would be Ripken Jr. I don't think he did anything, but a guy w/ 430 HR, almost 650 extra base hits, and over 3000 hits and did part of it in the "steriod era." Again, it's not an attack on Ripken because I don't think his career is in question. I just find it bizarre that a media that questions everyone didn't question Ripken at all.
  14. I agree. I also never thought that a media that loathes Barry Bonds and makes every excuse that he should be elected into the HOF even though he's implicated in almost every facet of the "steriod era" would keep a guy with 600 HR out of the HOF that has no link steriods whatsoever. Let me clarify, I think that Sosa, McGwire, Bonds, and nameless other guys have taken some form of enhancemnt drugs. But the hipocracy of people surround the situation is more than annoying. The only guys that should not get in when they have the "milestone numbers" are the guys that are PROVEN to have broken baseball rules. (ex. Palmerio) Any thoughts?
  15. I tried Tim. I'm still waiting on a counter to see what exactly is expected for Maggs.

  17. So is Big Hurt a HOFer, or is he also guilty by association?
  18. So $6.6 million wasn't enough for the Marlins? Sheesh...$6.6 million was way too much to begin with Jim. Glad you finally woke up before Larry really stuck it to you. I'm more interested in what "I have another scenario" means. What team and what player? Actually, I'm most interested in the part that Zell had nothing to do with it. I was getting seriously (even more) concerned for the long-term future of this team if Zell was starting off his tenure in such a way. I think if Zell had nothing to do with this deal not happening, that's the best big picture news for the Cubs this whole thing has to offer so far. It might concern me if Zell was the guy that was going to keep the Cubs, but that doesn't seem to be the case. The Cubs will probably be be spun off right away and whomever that person/company is will probably have some power over personel as Zell seems to have right now. So, I'm less concerned with Zell as some seem to be. I hope that made sense! I need to sleep! LOL!
  19. Let's go BIG Z! He's been stellar his last few starts! Let's hope for another 8-10 runs and another great start from Z.

  21. You do realize they wear these jerseys only for the HR Derby and other festivities, and do indeed wear their appropriate team jersey for the game itself, right? Well, I would hope so.... but even then, why bother with those silly jersey in the first place? I'm just saying, for ALL the festivites and the game itself, just wear your respected ballclub jersey. It's called revenue, my friend, revenue!
  22. I kinda like them. I guess I'm in the minority!
  23. My offer's in. Are you just going to accept a deal, or do we actually have to wait a whole week?
  24. Yeah, I couldn't find that thread. This story if from yesterday the 25th, so I thought it might be of some interest. And ESPN was reporting it this morning.
