  1. Most LFs don't get to that. That's why he's an average-above average LF. nice try, still not buying that
  2. That was a nice piece of hitting nice pitch by Marmol, low and away, didn't even look like a strike
  3. When the got him I felt that he was more of a replacement for Howry than being named the closer. I still feel that hes miscast as a closer, but would better as a setup guy. I think that Guzman would be a better option when healthy or Rich Harden.
  4. He needs to stick to the cliches when speaking to the press. While his opinions and perceptions are interesting, they will be used against him.
  5. I'd say below average. He doesn't seem to read the ball of the bat well and his effort is questionable. He has played way too many singles into doubles and triples. Soriano looks like an above average outfielder on paper, but if you actually watch the games and see the balls that he misplays, I would say he is below average at best. Most of the time his misplays don't result in errors, because he misjudges the ball too badly to get into position to catch it. Soriano looks like a below average defender on the surface because he makes a lot of really stupid errors. In fact he's pretty decent out there cause he's got good range and a great arm. I think his range is poor because he doesn't get a good jump on the ball.
  6. Is Soriano giving 100% on every play ? He's the same guy who says that hes just trying to stay healthy. He seems to have been babying his hamstring since 2007! I see Milton running hard to first and diving for balls in the field. I don't see the same effort from Soriano. The seasons not all Bradleys fault! Hes being singled out and others like Soriano, Soto, Fontenot, Lee, Marmol, Heilman and Gregg are getting off the hook.
  7. He throws two pitches and gets alot of strikeouts. I'd rather see him as the closer.
  8. I'd say below average. He doesn't seem to read the ball of the bat well and his effort is questionable. He has played way too many singles into doubles and triples.
  9. It looks like Lou finally made a stand against the dugout tirades and he did when it involved Bradley. I think people are reading more into it because it involved Bradley.
  10. I miss Jacques throws and watching him get picked off of second
  11. Right, who cares. Players have been cheating from the beginning of the game .They've always been looking for an edge. Pine tar, spitballs ,sandpaper etc. Alot of players in the hall have cheated in some way. Whether to use steroids or not is a personal decision. Over time, some steroid users will have to pay a price. Lyle Alzado,Steve Courson etc. They paid it.
  12. The scalpers and those who bought tickets to the Police concert and tried to resell them lost big time. The day of and before they were going for way less than face value.
  13. terrible argument. its not as if players went from weak power hitters to good ones in the thirties and twenties. Its not that bad,but its debatable. Smaller strike zones, weaker pitching, and other things can be attributed to the surge in home runs. When I see someone take that large of a jump after 4-5 years in the league I have to wonder A player in the league for a few years looking to take it to the next level may decide to start. Steroids may give him a mental edge too. He will feel stronger, confident and aggressive. Steroids are not just for getting bigger. They help the body by allowing it to recover faster. Taking a steroid alone will not cause the incredible gains, but its part of a package. The fact is that today HGH is being used and its undetectable. So,professional sports point the finger at steroids and try to devise programs to stop the use. Well,HGH did that. They're testing yesterdays problem and patting themselves on the back like their doing the right thing today.
  14. Bonds, ARod, Clemens, and McGwire won't make the HOF. That is certainly something to be gained. mcgwire is at least borderline but you aren't gaining anything by keeping out bonds, arod and clemens. they're three of the all-time greats with or without steroids, and it's just embarrassing to the voters and the hall itself if those guys aren't elected. to me it isnt a question of "were they good enough with or without steroids". the fact they contributed to the integrity damage of the game automatically eliminates them IMO. Integrity damage ? MLB has a ex car salesmen as commish...
  15. I remember hearing a college football announcer talking about how a player put on 30-40 pounds over the summer before his freshmen year. Nobody questioned it. People attribute it to being young, training hard and eating right. Then, they give credit to the strength coach for his training regimen .
  16. He lied to Katie Couric !
  17. He still needs to get Kenny Lofton and Neifi.
  18. Zito and Rowland are probably the reason why he can't go after others. This is a great time to be searching for free agents. There are some very good players out there that can be signed short term. Overspending and back loading have put Hendry in a bad spot too. He had to clear contracts to sign Bradley.Fukodome is getting around 12 mil to platoon and Adam Dunn and Bobby Abreau may sign one year deals for less than that!
  19. I remember hearing a story about him losing or getting about 15 grand stolen from him. He had it in a brown paper bag in a hotel lobby in the Dominican. He was still with the Cubs at the time. For those who didn't know that steroids were being used before 2003,the signs were there. Brady Anderson hitting 50,Steve Finley going from 5 a year to 30 etc. People chose not to look or were just naive and gullible.Flintstones vitamins, better training, nutrition, come on people, why are you so surprised?.Were you were caught up in the moments?.Sammy and Mac chasing 60,Barry etc. Steroids are all over .They talk about hitters, how about pitchers? I remember when having a few guys throwing 90 was a big deal. I have trouble believing that steroids are giving an unfair advantage because I believe most are or have used.Hitters and pitchers.Steroids are used in cycles and they have an idea when they'll be tested. They use during the off season and cycle off before the season. Then there is HGH which is undetectable. Football raves about their great testing program and people fall for it.Why,because they say they have a great testing program and hardly anybody gets caught? People used to believe Hulk Hogan crediting his size on the "prayers and the vitamins" and they still believe politicians are telling them the truth.
  20. Whatever the reasons/excuses for his control loss,he was still given away for nothing.
  21. Any chance Omar would want Soriano ?
  22. Why give Hill away for nothing? They should have let him come to spring training and see where hes at. The only thing they would be losing is the ptbnl.
  23. The problem is the only upgrade is Bradley, and he was signed as a free agent. A lot of trades were made but comparing whats coming in to whats being replaced,I see alot of washes and downgrades. It looks like the plan is to make alot of moves, and hope to get lucky. Overspending has put them in this spot. They had to cut payroll to sign Bradley. There are still free agents out there, but they don't have the money. Of course, overpaying for Bako and Miles didn't help.
