  1. Hopefully the fact that Hill escaped without an ER and still getting the win will get his brain back on track. Kind of like whatever it was in 06 that made him decide he was awesome.
  2. I could tell the Lennon part was a joke, but I could also tell the part about needing to show emotion was serious. he doesn't need to...but it would be nice to see sometimes...it isn't an end all be all situation though... so...i stopped watching sports (and baseball in particular) after the marlins beat the indians in what was that 97? anyway...the part about hill being told to shut up by the manager...when did that happen...i started paying attention to ball again during the very tail end of 06... Not only was he told to shut up by management, he was demoted shortly afterwards to "work on his attitude". http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20060521&content_id=1464636&vkey=news_chc&fext=.jsp&c_id=chc Man that article makes me angry. Dusty sucks as a manager in every possible way.
  3. What's this guy's ceiling? His numbers look really good so far, especially for only recently turning 19, but the Top 10 prospects thread is the first I've heard of him.
  4. I think for the next week I'm going to screw with my sleeping habits and sleep from about noon to 8pm. It should be worth it. Go Super Cubs.
  5. I fear the Reds in a few years, Dusty be damned. Even if they hold on to Dunn, a 3-4-5 of Votto, Bruce, Dunn is deadly, and that rotation is similar to the one we had in 2004. The Reds could be really good for a really long time. They could accelerate the process if they would get a manager who knows what he's doing. I don't think it can compete with what our rotation was suppose to be. Wood, Prior, and Zambrano were all HOF potential pitchers, then followed by Maddux and Clement. What a gigantic disappointment that year was.
  6. Jay Bruce scares the holy hell out of me. Nice K! Every team in our division (except the Cards) has very scary young talent. Houston and Pittsburgh...meh. Brewers and Reds are the only teams that really worry me.
  7. His first start wasn't bad. He just wore down towards the end. I'd say its more night and day from his Houston start.
  8. throw 98 mph. Like others have said, that skill alone will get you a shot in the pros.
  9. I just want to add, that while I'm annoyed by my situation, Mufasa is such a badass.
  10. Usually when I'm at work and the game is on WGN, all is good. However, someone's damn kid is watching The Lion King. I think I'm going to punt him.
  11. Dudes a gamer. He's the spark that gets the rest of the team going. Those other guys may have the numbers, but players like Ellsbury are invaluable. So on and so forth, rabble rabble rabble. So does being a "gamer" not add any value to a team? Who's more of a "gamer": ARod or Erstad? If its Erstad, then no, it doesn't.
  12. Dudes a gamer. He's the spark that gets the rest of the team going. Those other guys may have the numbers, but players like Ellsbury are invaluable. So on and so forth, rabble rabble rabble. "ellsbury is a gamer" is how a moron would describe jacoby ellsbury. a more intelligent analysis would point out that he has the second-highest VORP on the red sox and a .294 EqA despite being unlucky on balls in play. he's got solid extra base power with the ability to hit around 10 home runs a year, and is a very good baserunner who will help his team by stealing about 80 bases at an 85% success rate. and he plays plus defense in center field. Which is why I assumed that's how they described him on BBTN

  14. I have a ball with both Marshall's and Murton's autograph on it. I'd like at least one of them to have success. i have a ball somewhere at my parents with shawn estes and joe borowski's autographs on it. ill sell it for $2000 OBO I can top that. I have one with Dave Veres and Antonio Alfonseca. Hector Villanueva Jerome Williams, Corey Patterson, Mark Prior, Bobby Hill, Michael Barrett, GlenAllen Hill. If you're offering to trade, no. If you throw in a Luis Salazar, I'll consider it. I have three Luis Salazar auto'ed cards, thank you very much, but I need a Paul Noce for my collection. Fergie Jenkins signed my glove when I was in little league. I just thought he was one of the coaches and didn't know he was a hall of famer, so I kept wearing the glove to play. Live and learn.
  15. That was my thought. I suggested "SOAPDROPPING Crazy Bears" if they keep winning as Super Cubs. However, if they lose tomorrow I would vote to never promote them above "Cubs" again.
  16. Fun fact: Bob Ross filmed his show in the same studio that I use on my college show. His ghost haunts the halls.
  17. Dempster is sucking it up something fierce today.
  18. How many SB have there been? I can remember 2-3 that were bad calls.
  19. As much as I enjoy big comebacks, how about we don't get in a huge hole.
  20. Zambrano will likely be a better pitcher than my dead cat. HUH? I think hes equating the production of a Johnson/Edmonds platoon to his dead cat, thereby confirming that Murton/Hoffpauir would indeed be better than Johnson/Edmonds, as is my understanding. But what does that have to do with Zambrano pitching? I think he's saying "Zambrano will be a better pitcher than my dead cat" (which is obvious), just as a Murton/Hoffpauir platoon would be better than a Johnson/Edmonds platoon (which he is saying is equally obvious). Correct. Sorry for the confusion NC, I guess things make more sense in my head. However, after today's game I might have to upgrade the comparison to a living cat.
  21. Since they are demoted to Cobs and Losers when doing bad, shouldn't they be like Super Cubs right now? Or maybe the SOAPDROPPING Crazy Bears...Something like that.
