  1. Boras let his ego get in the way of doing whats best for his client.
  2. Heck, some players get 6 years. Jon Beutjer got about 9. Luke Recker like 14. Re: WVU: That doesn't even seem legal. No it doesn't but I'm sure some schools football players don't even have textbooks. Or even have to take tests. http://www.osu.edu/images/osu_logo.png
  3. Rachel Nichols Tito Ortiz George Costanza
  4. Why do we assume the team would be better off with another GM? The list of popular GM's is not very long.
  5. I'd say it's clear that, barring injury, it will be Man U and Arsenal battling for the title with Chelsea challenging. Man U beat Chelsea 2-0 at home, tied Arsenal 2-2 on the road, and beat Liverpool 1-0 on the road. Arsenal beat Chelsea 1-0 at home, tied Man U 2-2 at home, and tied Liverpool 1-1 on the road. Liverpool tied Chelsea 1-1 at home. So Liverpool has played each of the top three, all at home, and only took 2 of 9 points. That doesn't bode well for when they go on the road against the three teams. Man U has taken 7 points with one home and two road matches. Arsenal has taken 5 points with two home matches and one road match. Chelsea has only taken one point but they've played all three matches on the road. I just don't think Liverpool has what it takes to compete with the top-3. Chelsea will be making some moves in the transfer window and will undoubtedly improve their team. But I'd bet right now that Arsenal and Man U will occupy the top-2 spots at the end of the year. They really don't have enough. Maybe next year with another year of Ryan Babel they will be a little better or close the gap between them and Chelsea. Torres has made them better than last year though. Gerrard should just go to Arsenal so he can win the personal Trebel :-). Watch they will probably make another Champions League semi or even final. At this point that is what they are playing for this season. The Big 4 is a myth. Liverpool just aren't in the same class as the other 3, and haven't been for a while. IMO they're at the top of the Next 3 - Liverpool, Everton, Portsmouth. And this year Aston Villa, Man City, and Tottenham are the next tier. Liverpool can concentrate on the Champions League (and FA Cup), which Rafa started doing with 20 minutes left against Reading anyway. The last six years Liverpool has finished 2nd-5th-4th-5th-3rd-3rd, plus have won a Champions League and were runners-up last year. They haven't been as good as the other three, but are closer to that group than the second set. And the FA Cup. They are probably one player away. Ah, true, forgot. I'd optimistically agree, though I hope it's only one player. I'd be satisfied with fourth this season. They've only lost twice, so it's not like they've been poor. I said that they'd be top of the next three, so we seem to have them in the same place just a matter of how close to each group. But if the EPL didn't get 4 teams into the Champions League every year I'm not sure that there'd be such a thing as the Big 4. They have won a few cups during their EPL championship drought, and they have the history, but it's clear that they're not in the same class as the other 3. If they're one player away, it's a magical player. I think Torres and Gerrard are the only ones they have that could possibly start somewhere in the other 3 (injuries aside, of course.) Ok, maybe Agger and Mascherano depending on the situation. I think Babel is going to turn into a very special player, but looking at their roster again they could be two players away plus relying on Babel to become what he can be.
  6. as an alumnus, i'm totally excited with this seemingly last-minute turn-of-events. all the rumors about brady hoke made me want to burn my diploma. the fact that he's bringing gibson (db coach) and magee (oc) might mean debord's gone. excellent. DeBord was on his way out anyway. Run left hasn't worked for years. I'm also excited about Rich Rod bringing our strength and conditioning program into the 21st century as well. I do hope they keep Ron English on as DC. I wasnt so sure about what would happen with Debord. His status caused a lot of consternation after reading all the rumors of what was going on in this process behind the scenes. I was never so sure until RR was hired. The new guard at AA won on this one. As for Mallett ill be surprised if he transfers. He burnt his redshirt and transfering would cost him another year. Plus after listening the RR's presser this morning there were at least 3 questions about his offense and how it will fit in. He said that his spread offense is moldible to the talent of a passing or running qb and in the past they have geared it towards a throwing qb and utilizing the skill position players. I thought Mallett was a true freshmen this year. Yeah, if he transfered he only has 2 years of elgiblity remaining but had he redshirted like a lot of Qbs he would have 3 left which isnt so bad. And its not like hes played all that much this year to granish a year of experience. At the same time a lot of qbs dont get their first start until their junior year so who knows. IF he transfers it will definetly hurt UM. Waht are you talking about? If he transfers, he still has 3 years to play. Not redshirting actually helps him keep a year. If he transfers to a 1-A school he has to sit out a year and that year counts against him. If he goes 1-AA then I think he can immediately.
  7. picture 14? It is 14 now. Go to #9 in the regular photos, not the ap photo's for a better look. Follow up: It took 33 stitches to the face to close it up yesterday.

  9. Reading. I have no clue.
  10. At almost the same cost as Fukudome of 12 million a season its not going to be too hard for him to fail. The more home games he pitches the better off he will be. Can't do much worse than Kei Igawa. Kei Igawa makes 4 Million per. If he is anywhere close to Kei Igawa's number he is a SPECTACULAR failure at 12! I also do not think he will do well. You can't ignore that posting fee, even if you are a Yankee fan. OK if you want to count the posting fee, He is just over 10 per. Still younger and cheaper. However, he has trade value due to the low contract. So, I still beleive Koroda will be far worse. Your still going to have to pay at least half of that contract to be able to trade him. Few pitchers were worse last season than Igawa. Even when his era dropped down his BAA went up. .279/.374/.533/.907 is a great line for a hitter. Not for a pitcher in terms of what he gives up.

  13. Yeah, because the Pats just decimated the Jets today. it was rainy and windy the whole game. the cowboys barely beat the lions, who are getting trashed by the chargers today, and are struggling with the crappy eagles. the cowboys really aren't playing well. So it's not going to be rainy and windy in Foxboro in January? *My issue is you constantly advancing the Pats for no reason. might be. bad weather has helped teams stay closer to the pats (baltimore, jets) but they still haven't lost. and as for "advancing the pats for no reason," they're 14-0 and might be the best team ever, i would say those are pretty good reasons. Romo is the best 2nd half qb in the NFL. Things should not be any different today.
  14. after what? i missed it Intentional high cleat to the face, gave him a black eye and huge laceration between both eyes. Lots of blood. Pics should be up on the internet soon if not the intro to Sportscenter. He might not have meant to kick him square in the face but it is very reckless and more than a yellow imo. he only got a yellow for it? Yeah, just a yellow. Don't think the ref caught a glimpse of the guy before issuing the card. I could be overreacting based on the outcome, but too me Espinoza plays very reckless and had been the whole game. His cleat was 8-9 feet in the air to get his face.

  16. Pray the Weis does not step down from ND. That would be 10X worse.
  17. Perennial National Championship losers O$U do it again in a 2-1 loss to Wake Forest. The best team won which was nice to see, and I would have loved to seen someone from Wake take a cleat to the face of Espinoza. He didn't deserve to finish the game after that.

  19. Yep. Read about that earlier. There's also a couple of insiders on the WV scout board who are saying R Rodriguez is going to stay at WV. Looks like Michigan has been turned down again. The embarrassment grows. I think Rodriguez was a little optimistic on Michigan's part. Not according to this: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3157227 Oh. Well, I stand corrected. I didn't think Rodriguez would leave. I'm impressed by Michigan, they did a good job. *Assuming Rodriguez doesn't back out. Holy crap, I didn't see this coming obviously based on my post a few hours ago. I'm really surprised he is leaving before the bowl game too. That really sucks for White and Slaton.
  20. Is the Jets defense counting to 5-Mississippi before actually rushing Brady?

The embarrassment grows. I never expected Rodriguez to leave WV and thought that was a waste of time. I guess he was curious to how much money they were willing to throw at him. Why have they not thrown hard at Bob Stoops yet?
  22. I'm disappointed with no snow falling in New England. The field looks clean so far too :-(.
  23. Wow, that would be a huge coup for them in Europe! HUGE. btw i hope this means dave o brien will be doing the broadcasts with wyno and tommy smyth so the people in europe can enjoy am i rite?! I would rather see a full blown invasion of all the Sky Sports networks over to the US. Whichever gives me the most HD and live broadcasts is what I want. I get a little tired of the repetitiveness FSC.
  24. huge huge huge win today. Should have been 2 or 3-0, Arsenal were the better team. While I think Fabregas will and should win the PFA this season, this team clicks with van Persie. The second he enter today Arsenal transformed into the side they had been all season.
  25. 1-0 Arsenal at the half. John Terry is gone for the rest of the game, and Arsenal have controlled possession so far.
