  1. Because he's just about the best player in the world. He's also been playing at an extremely high level since he was what, 16? Oh, I knew the answer. It was just a rhetorical question. Either way, C. Ronaldo is the truth. True. And I'm not ashamed to be jealous of Portugal, Man U., and/or any other team he plays for. He's ridiculous. Plus he's dreamy as hell. No kidding. That was awesome. I refuse to like him, but he is great. I hope he sucks for the rest of the season as does Portugal, and I still hate him
  2. Dukes probably should not be allowed to leave the state without contacting his parole officer. He is probably the most ghetto player since Toe Nash.
  3. Great game, both teams looked like the two frontrunners for the title. Arsenal have now gone unbeaten in their last 25 matches in all competitions. Wenger looks like a genius at the way this team is constructed and playing. I love watching them play more than any team for the past several years. Teves looks like he should be a vampire in the next Lost Boys movie.
  4. I hope they put up 50 on the Eagles now after that stupid late hit.
  5. I think you could put up 60 on them if you play well. Kyle Field is a pain in the ass but the fans probably want nothing more than a reason to boo Fran straight out of college station. I think a bad loss followed by that will make them happy.
  6. Its been pissing me off since week 1. As much as I want McFadden I realize there is not a huge need. I love Barber, Jones is not important to me. A young receiver would be the most important need IMO or the secondary.
  7. I think the Reds would want a couple more middle relief pitchers to make the deal work.
  8. Do they take the rest of Marquis contract as a result. I'm fine with his contract if they take that one off our hands.
  9. I really thought today was going to be the day OSU actually was able to beat Texas. It's comical the leads Texas spots Oklahoma State with only to come back and win. I almost feel bad for them, almost.
  10. waiting to. Hopefully fan zone will cover the game.
  11. Well, he was 18 on the left. mmmmmmmm carne esmechada gooooooooood maybe our own Veneuzalian Carlos can campaign him to come to Chicago. Carlos had similar issues, and now has it under control. He could take miggy under his wings.
  12. I wouldn't expect Boras to do any less. Of course he's going to aim as high as possible before negotiations even begin. Saying 12 years makes 10 years sound much better, even if the team actually only wanted 7-8 years. It would not suprise me if Boras said Arod wants to be the first man ever on Mars and that the next team would have to fund a rocket built by Arod to get him their.
  13. I guess it depends on how you define more money. He only had 3 years remaining, where now he will probably get 8 years in a new contract. His new contract will likely triple what he would make in 3 years combined. He could take a little less per year, but I think the security of a guaranteed contract is easily worth more. I would rather have 8 years at $200 million than 3 years at $90.
  14. wow, i can't believe that a guy whose job required him to work 125 hour weeks was less than a model parent I'm willing to bet his wife doesn't work at all. Still it was a family choice that allowed them to become multi-millionaires. If the house was that bad then he had to just be turning his head to what was going on. They can't use work as an excuse for being a horrible parent.
  15. Wow, Andy Reid's sons were sentenced up to 23 months in jail and in a nut shell completely disrespecting Andt Reid and his wife as parents claiming their house was basicly a drug emporium and stated there was no structure in their house to allow them to live at home and avoid jail time.
  16. When his career is said and done he is going to make Kerry Wood look like Cal Ripken.
  17. In the case of a joint Dutch-Belgian bid, logistics would be a lot simpler than they'll be in Brasil. No kidding. Amsterdam during the finals would be very fun to go to.
  18. Aren't you forgetting that Cabrera played for the 2003 Marlins? That alone should spark Hendry's interest even if he is good. We can't trade for him without an extension though, at least IMO.
  19. It says that the Padres EXPECT him to be available, not that he is available. Also, what little stock I put into it completely disappeared when it went on to say this... Yeah, ARod is going to sign with the Marlins. Wasn't their entire payroll two years ago about half of what he's asking for? They paid 25 players a total of 14M... they're not going to pay one player 30M two years later. If and when Miguel Cabrera is officially on the market, you'll hear/read about it somewhere other than some San Diego newspaper first. Actually, there've been rumblings about this for a week now and the Union-Trib isnt' the first place I've read about it. I've read that the Yankees will go aggressively after him to replace ARod. Oh, yeah there has been talk about him being moved since well before this week. I was just saying that the article doesn't mean it's definitive, as the thread title suggests. Gammons says it's definitive: link. If i'm the Marlins I don't even talk to them without having Hughes and Joba on the table.
  20. 1966, also the last time they won the cup. '66 is what some people say made the world cup into the huge event that its become today. i also don't think we'll get it or deserve it, though it would be great to have it again. Right now I would list England as the favorite simply because of security and stadiums. Hopefully I will be their should it happen, luckily I have 11 years to plan for it. I would however think the US could generate more revenue for Fifa. I'm curious to see a Holland/Belgium split bid. Without England and the US, they would have a real legit shot. Didn't FIFA say no more split bids? they did, but they also said they were going to rotate the cup amongst all the continents. Whats wrong with split bids?

  22. +1 Only problem is that he needs to go on Celebrity Fit Club or something and stop being such a fatass if he's to play the OF. He's two years away from making Manny look skinny.

  24. We would also need a daily thread on how great Curt Shilling is. Curt could start it. Would he post with his own name or his everquest character name?
  25. I could see that one coming from a mile away. Mark this one down: everyone's freaking out about how the South Africa WC will be a nightmare in terms of logistics and crime, but the real nightmare will be Brazil 2014 if something drastic doesn't happen in that country in terms of footballing infrastructure and power, as well as general infrastructure in the country itself. A couple of months ago Blatter did say if Brazil doesn't get things together they could easily lose the WC even after announcement of winning the bid. The US is considered one of the options of a contingency plan to move the 2014 WC should that happen. I would expect the US to be one of the top 2-3 front runners for 2018 with England when that time comes. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/soccer/10/31/bc.eu.spt.soc.worldcup2.ap/index.html Well England is already in, I expect the US will announce something in the coming weeks/months. Would not be suprised to see Austrailia enter the mix as well. This will be wealthy country World Cup, other countries need not apply. As much as I would love to see the US get the Cup, I would equally love to go to England and watch the Cup live. Its going to be a very competitive bid and the most exciting since Germany won it even if tainted through bribery. It almost could come down to the final stadium Wembley vs. who we throw out there. Right now I name the new Texas Stadium.
